The rate at which they are posting OTA updates is encouraging. One could make the assumption they are more ready for prime time when released OTA vs us finding new folders. I’ll wait for OTA.

Got my new adapter today, updated it to 2020-08-29 via USB right away (before first use). Got the old interface as well.
Also interesting: the etching on the back is different despite them seeming to be manufactured around the same time according to the sticker that has the "7" marked.. Can't notice any speed difference or something like that to the old one though.

Later I activate my device from 08.27 to 08.29. I will confirm if I have gone from the new interface to the old one again.

The size of the firmware file is decreased back to 6mb. I'll try this one out today with my Accord.

Update:
The newest update wouldn't take via USB. Although I noticed within short distance that I didn't have any lock ups while using Compatibility mode/DVD/400ms. I just can not use Waze; both Apple maps and Apple Podcasts work fine.

hi I'm new here, but I have been follow this tread for quite sometimes.
anyway today I did the OTA updates to the latest OTA 8.22 version.

after driving for about 30mins, I actually notice the blue highlighted icon has disappear. it usually appears whenever I reverse or display camera for my lane watch camera. however it did not show this time, I was happy at first thought they finally fix it for sure, but somehow it reappear after 3 "return" menu during the ride..there is still bug thou. (it is not deal breaker to me as just like many bros here have been living with this issues- some actually like it thou.)

question is : they actually can remove it via the sw updates . so it is just they cannot solve it or to keep it there on purpose ?

as for the musics: the intermitter stutter is still kinda there...hardly noticeable but can still feel it. however it does seem after so many installments OTA, this time is the better version for my ride now.
BTW I am driving the Honda Civic 2019. using the USB-C carlinkits wireless 2.0

cheers.

Ah not sure, the ones posted are for CarLinkIt and CarPlay2Air. Please use at own risk, not sure on the other file you listed.

Can some one do a basic video on the initial process/setup (I can’t as never worked!), and I’ll post link in 1st post.

I’ve never had the setup screen ever stay up on mine. On initial setup do you plug in the dongle, the screen should come up, then search on Bluetooth?

Mine connects to the WiFi but see nothing on the car screen.

I was wondering what's your vehicle make and model? Also, were you able to find anyone or find info in forums about anyone that was able to get these dongles working in a Vauxhall Astra? Also, what about the saftware update for your R 4.0 Intellilink that you have spoke off before? What are the chances of paying a hundred quids and get the dongle working? Sorry for the many questions.

Went for an hour long drive today using 8.10 on my Chevy infotainment 3. Worked well with two stutters. Then about 45 mins into drive it froze and rebooted itself. Hopefully it will improve. Still happy enough and glad to have the wireless carplay option.

Vauxhall Mokka X. Haven’t found anyone else with one to try, or another similar model.

Mines not the R4.9, mines called Navi 900, I’ve asked Vauxhall about updates, and still waiting for cost and/or availability. If I knew would work, then I’d pay whatever it cost.

Someone much earlier posted to say was working on his, same as mine. But he’s disappeared, and hasn’t answers my PM or anything, he only had a couple of posts so not sure.

The freeze/reboot thing can be caused by WiFi or other 5GHz interference (which would affect genuine wireless carplay as well). I know this all to well because there is an intersection on my commute where my connection freezes up and drops. Firmware from July on has the auto-reconnect feature, so it eventually comes back.

Not saying that this was definitely the case for you, just throwing it out there as a possibility.

Hmmm, probably should have left well enough alone after trying 8/22 and being able to get back to 8/10. I'm now unable to downgrade from 8/27 to any firmware with either method I've used in the past.

I think this is another GM issue. I have never once experienced a freeze or a reboot. When it’s connected it is connected and it works. I don’t think it has anything to do with interference.

Quite probably related to the unsupported Mylink 3 system. I don’t recall our Mylink 2 users ever having this issue - just the startup timing and sound skip.

I had some stutters today with my pioneer but I expected them as I was also using Apple Maps and was in an area where all three major carriers have lower signal quality.

It absolutely is interference in my case, because it happens 100% of the time in the same exact spot in my commute (and I have a Ford, not a GM). I believe it has happened to @2018 Denali as well at a particular spot he drives by regularly.

the file Auto-box-updade.img its same of U2W_updade.img ?

Auto_Box_Update.img files are for the Android / WinCe HU dongles. Those dongles need an app called Autokit in order to function.
They come in two variants, the white one which is for wired connection only Carplay/AndroidAuto. Second variant looks exactly like the USB A version of the U2W, but can do wireless Carplay, and wired connection for both Carplay and AA.

If you cannot update your dongle thru the HeadUnit, install Autokit on an android phone or tablet, then go to Autokit settings.
At the very bottom of the settings menu will be two buttons to update the app and another to update the dongle.

Has anyone upgraded from 08.27 to 08.29 successfully?

I have tried and could not. It is not something that I am doing wrong, since I have previously updated via usb without problems.

When I introduce the usb with version 08.29, the carlinkit restarts but it does not apply the update. To discard I have downloaded the file again and tried another usb, but the same result.

It can be several things:

That version 08.29 does not detect it as an update and therefore does not apply.

What is something wrong with version 08.27 and does not allow updates.

Regards,

I think someone said you now have to wait for it to boot and then plug in the flash drive (instead of plugging it into power together with the dongle).

Regards,

Maybe try flashing back to an older firmware first, then upgrade to 08.29?
