Hey there... Just registered to answer to your posts.

I got an Opel Astra K SportsTourer which is the same as your Vauxhall and got pretty the same behaviour as your carlinkit. Also try to get it working, but already tried a lot. Do you got any further ideas?

I thought about updating my Intellilink 900, but don’t know if there is a new version available...

I’m out of ideas.... I’ve tried everything I can. In the OP so had it a long time now, updates to it etc and nothing.

Apparently there is some upsets to the Intellilink 900 though. I’ve spoke to someone, he says Vauxhall will charge about £149 for the updates as there’s nothing wrong with it, as such. Not sure if this would fix it either, it’s just @phantom25 has a newer version and it works so wondered if was this.

@phantom25 maybe, there is a setting to switch off WiFi as it also has a personal hotspot thing on the car, separate to OnStar. I’ve switched this off but searching on my iPhone it still “see’s” the name so not sure really if it is off.

I will try to get a new update... My local Opel seller has a relatively good service, so I will ask them if it’s possible to get anything ;-) I will let you know when I tried it.

That would be good. There is someone local who specialises in Vauxhall’s and can do this sort of stuff I think. Maybe able to get it cheaper from there, but not sure if would work.

Giving that @phantom25 has, but looks wise, the same system and dongle works has given me a little hope!

Yeah, I was happy that I found at least something that let me know it’s not just a faulty dongle.
I will call them the next days and see what they say. Would be nice if there is something possible about updating.

Anyone had luck to get a bricked CPLAY2air , to work again , i was trying to get the new firmware on it but now it is dead , my car cant see it as a apple carplay

I have never ever seen a bricked device. It's more likely the new firmware isn't working with your vehicle. I've seen it before. You can downgrade using the USB method.

i have tried 4. usb all format in fat32 , none of them give me a blinking blue only blinking red.
Did you do the firmware OTA since you had the device, or USB?

The first versions required a USB update to get the OTA updates.

It is *very* picky on what type of USB you use. I ended up using an 8Gb MicroSD in an adapter as all of my other ones didnt work.

You said "to work again" which means it must have worked at some point. What vehicle do you have?

Hi everyone. This has been a great read but I just can’t keep up with what the general consensus is in terms of which one to get. Carplay2air or carlinkit. I was hoping you wouldnt mind if I just asked outright for your opinions. I drive a UK model Seat Tarraco with CarPlay built in. Do you guys have a consensus on which ones more reliable and easy to you use out of the box?

CarPlay2Air and Carlinkit are the same device. My advice (from experience) is to buy the one that offers the easiest returns and protection. For me, I ordered both. CarPlay2Air from China three weeks ago and it hasn't left China, Carlinkit from Amazon Prime coming tomorrow. From this thread, CarPlay2Air will leave you high and dry if the product doesn't work with your car, so be prepared to eat ~$130 bucks. Amazon will take Carlinkit back. I don't know if it works on your car or not.

Hello everyone- Is there any way we can get important information stickied at the beginning of this thread? I for one would like:

1. USB flashing procedure and links to updated firmware versions
2. A list of usb drives that people have been successful using
3. Anything else you can think of :)

Happy for others to write it and I can copy and paste though

This would be helpful but I think it's too late. This thread's activity is pretty much limited to a handful of people trying to troubleshoot their car/device issues.

Would someone mind posting or pointing to the USB update procedure again? I want to try 2020-3-6 to eliminate to 5 minute sound degrading effect. Thanks!

See new stickies on my OP

People can message me now (easier than getting lost in posts) with cars that works with, and ones doesn’t and I’ll add to OP as well if want?

What's the advantage if any updating USB vs. OTA? FWIU, OTA works?

The OTA is the way it should be updated, according to manufacturer, someone found the USB files and so can be done like this.

The update to v2 as manufacturer classed it as, has to be done via USB.

Thanks, my Carlinkit that is on it's way is categorized as "version 2.0"

That’ll mean it has the v2 firmware already on so really should just be OTA updating needed.

However we’ve found that the OTA updates were behind the USB method, but the download link now doesn’t work.

Thanks for this. I am excited to finally plug it in tomorrow. As you may know, I ordered the CP2A almost a month ago, gave up on it and have the Carlinkit coming via Amazon. At the time the CP2A was running at $119 and the Amazon's were still $159.

Version 2.0

That's the last official one. The newest inofficial one is 2020-03-06. Download it here http://112.74.112.110/download/2020-03-06/U2W_Update.img, copy it to the root of an USB stick and stick the USB key into the Carplaylink units USB port, afterwards activate ignition or start the car. It should show the update procedure on the cars screen. You can find out if the installation worked by going to 192.168.50.2 in your iPhone browser. There you'll see the installed Firmware version number. These instructions are also in the OP.
