USB-C cables not fitting. I have about 4 different USB C cables and none of them fit in this box except the short cable that came with it. The included cable fits in any other USB-C jack and my other USB-C cables fit in everything else but none will fit in this device ..... I have even trimmed away some of the plastic from the end of MY cables but they still don't fit. These are Apple and Samsung cables and a couple generic. Was trying to avoid using their cable with an adapter.

Even my Anker male USB-C adapter won't fit.

Interesting. My stuff may be going back.

I’m thinking of getting one of these Carplay2air devices. My only concern is how nicely does it play with 2 iPhones in the car? I know it will default to the most recent one, but what is the process to switch which iPhone is connected and how reliable is it at switching successfully?

Also, it looks like there are a couple devices floating around. I see carplay2air, carlinkit v1, carlinkit v2, and wirelesscopilot.com. Is there a consensus on which one is best?

Yeah what ever version works for each person is what is best. They claim 98% of cars but I think thats not with every firmware version, every phone OS. and car variability. I suspect they felt 1.22 was the best for most. Naturally not for us all. I was good on 1.22 till I was not. 3.04 is best for me at the moment. Not sure I would switch unless I have an issue. As to OTA versus memory stick upgrades the process is the same and has the same risk, Be carful don't pull things out early. Supposed to wait until you ahave both blue and red lights.

That's how I feel about 3.06...I will not be changing that unless something really compelling comes along. It works well for me in my car and the 5-minute static issue introduced with 1.22 was resolved.

To switch phones you would need to turn off wifi/bluetooth or turn on airplane mode on the phone you don't want to connect.

Everyhing is a carlink device, so just buy direct from the manufacture then a reseller like car2play. Carlink has two version, hence the v1 and v2.

Thanks for the reply!

Is there a way to specify which phone is connected at start up?

And is there a generally agreed upon best place to purchase a v2 carlink?

I assume this last JFK entry means it arrived at JFK airport and being handed off to DHL? Maybe a customs stop??

OR

It just left HK for JFK after sitting in HK since 4/27?

Have I mentioned that China tracking information sucks from a standpoint of understanding where it actually is. Arrivals and departure info blows. And what's up with the LAX arrival on 4/24? Mind you some of this backdated information just showed up today including the 4/24 LAX, the 4/27 Arrived at HK Hub and the JFK on 5/3.

I bought a CPLAY2air and tried it out in my 2018 Chevrolet Traverse. No issues getting it set up, but because the USB ports stay powered on I have to unplug and plug back in each time I get in the car. I listed it for sale on eBay if anyone is looking one for quick shipping.

Not to compete with you, but I have a CP2A that has been used for 2.5 weeks and as soon as my 2.0 USB-C one arrives, $100 bucks takes it - US only.

No worries! That’s a great price. If anyone wants mine outside of eBay I can go less - since there wouldn’t be all the seller and PayPal fees. Just send me a message through macrumors if anyone is interested.

I only paid $119 and they can be ordered for that now with a code, albeit with two months shipping. I will be watching your ebay auction though for sure! Good luck!

Ya I just bought mine from Amazon and they are quoting an August delivery lol. Hopefully iOS 14 doesn’t break functionality but I guess we should know that after the beta is released at WWDC.

I got the 2.0 USB-C off Amazon, but not Prime, so it's like ordering directly from China. I ordered April 14th and my deliver window per Amazon was - Arriving June 16 - July 13. It will definitely beat June 16th, I am thinking another week tops based on the convoluted tracking, so probably a 4-5 weeks.

iOS 14 won't be released until October, but good point. Hopefully the one hamster on the wheel at Carlinkit is beta testing iOS14, lol.

You really should have ordered it through aliexpress with dhl shipping. I ordered the USB-C variant monday afternoon, it shipped Tuesday morning and was just delivered here in St Louis 20 minutes ago.

I ordered a second one V2 from EBay Carlinkit directly this Tuesday 5-5-20. I paid 20 for DHL fast shipping and just checked shipping status shows it will be delivered tomorrow 5-8-20 in California.

eBay is not an option for me. Paypal refuses to process either my debit card or Capital One Visa card. So I basically said "screw it", closed my ebay and paypal accounts and moved on.

I actually like the warranty offered by aliexpress: You have a 90 day period from the time it ships to report an issue or not delivered for a full refund.

I KNOW, I KNOW!! Don't rub it in! I actually never dealt with Aliexpress and I honestly thought they were a European seller. I didn't think they delivered to the US. I would have have gladly paid the extra 10-20 bucks. Don't tempt me, I have enough of these dongles already that I don't know what to do with! I am in this for $400 bucks already for one car.

Should have just bought the new MBP:)

🤣 I really should have started the post by saying "This post is meant in humor" :). It was actually the first thing I have ever purchased from them. I was always put off by the whole "they are based in China and shipping times would probably be extravagant and nothing but counterfeit items" reputation.

Get a Surface Pro 7 or Surface Book 3 instead :)

I know how you meant it, I was being playful back. I live for gadgets. The surface is tempting, I am such an integrated Apple person at this point. I like how it all integrates seamlessly - phones, AppleTV, Mac's, iPads....I honestly don't do anything heavy on my old MBP, which probably supports saving a few bucks for the MS cheap and powerful offerings, but I have a Windows 10 machine for work, and some things never change......there an update and a SLOW reboot every friggin day.

Going back on thread, stuck @ work and haven't been able to test the new USB C carlinkit unit with my Pioneer DMH-C2550NEX yet.... hopefully it should be as problem free as other Pioneer users have reported with the older version.

Edit: Snuck outside on a quick break and hooked up my module. Works almost perfectly with the C2550NEX. Skipping songs using the steering wheel controls in my 2011 Cruze tends to keep skipping, but good otherwise. 3.18 firmware

Do you mind sharing the link? The only fast shipping I can find on aliexpress is $40 and it still takes a month.
