CarPlay CarPlay adapter to convert to wireless CarPlay?

How did you get it to work. I have same screen. Some Batch number and account settings.

You have an older dongle that needs to be activated. You must contact Carlinkit support. They will have you send a log file from the 192.168.50.2 site and they will give you the login info.

But how do I get in touch with them. Could not find any contact info.

Yes but they haven’t made it an available OTA upgrade for everyone which makes me wonder if they pre loaded it based on the car you have if you communicated that to them before shipping.

They asked me before shipping the new version. We shall see when it arrives.
They did not ask me about my car.

For those with the March 18 firmware, does it say “you have the latest firmware” when checking for OTA upgrades? Just curious, you would think so but since 3.18 is not on the server you never know. I guess I’m wondering if mine come with 3.18 and I check for updates will it think 1.22 is newer. Want to be careful to not overwrite 3.18.

Unrelated, I think they pulled the manual updates to stop people from bricking and returning like me.
Yes it says it's the latest firmware.

I can’t remember, did you get the new one with 3.18? If so, what was your ship date?

Others with 3.18, what was your ship date?

Trying to figure out when they started loading it.
If I remember correctly mine shipped on April 11th and it has 3.18

We crossed. Thank you. That’s took a while to get to you.

Edit- check that, shipping time wasn’t bad.

April 11th to April 29th. 18 days. I would have thought that was great but I paid the 10 dollars for "2 to 3 day shipping". They blamed the virus but did not refund my $$

Yeah, when I quickly replied I thought it shipped 3/18.

I probably would have paid the $10 too even though I would be highly skeptical it would ship any differently. There really aren’t any $10 2-3 day shipping options from China to the US, UK, etc.

I got mine off Amazon. I can’t remember if expedited shipping was an option.

Mine has said En Route to DHL e commerce for a week. I assume that means it’s on the way to the states. Maybe I’ll get it this week if it doesn’t get stuck in customs.

That was my problem too. It ships from the factory in Shenzhen on a Friday. It sat there at the airport for days and days. It was to go routed to Hong Kong. After I asked, they told me they there were no planes to send it on (Virus) ...It shipped a few hours later. I had it 3 days after that.

Mine shipped April 27 from China by DHL Express and I received it on May 1st (paid $20 extra on eBay from their eBay store). They had told me my 2020 Kia Soul, (or ANY 2020's) was not supported but I took a chance since the 2019 was. As I mentioned before it was 1.22. I do have a zip of 3.06 but since it seems to be working fine I haven't installed it. If anyone needs it LMK.

Thanks for this. That is quick shipping but I’m really surprised your unit came with 1.22 shipping that late. Seems to be on rime or reason. Maybe 3.18 is the same as 1.22. Yours is the usb c one right?

Thank you. I will get back to you if everything works out.
So, everything works now. Communication was great they answered very quick. Needed to upload the log file and information about model and country. They answered with account information and now it works. Thank you also here for the support.

LarryJoe33 the Update Check intelligently checks the firmware update. Even if you have 3.x and the server is 1.22 it will report back that you have the latest that is the message that you see on our screens when it says you have 3.04 for example. It will report that you have 3.04 and that you have the latest relative to what is available over OTA. If you have 1.22 it will say the same thing. If you have older then 1.22 it will offer to let you update to that.

Thanks for this. I am hoping I get 3.18 as there will be no way to manually install it and I bricked my CP2A trying to manually update it to 3.06 so I am not going there again. Not to mention, everything is working fine under 1.22.

Great, having dealt with both Carlinkit and CP2A support, I find the former much more responsive with quality answers. Glad you got it unlocked.

I use the old donglewith Audi A3. I only have one issue. It’s delayed sound when talking. Does the new dongle solve the issue ? Any chance for a software update for the old dongle to fix the issue ?

Yes, USB C and (knock plastic) working great especially since I updated the vehicles firmware. After the Kia update I get an almost instant connection and CarPlay screen after turning on vehicle. Next thing I want to do is get a longer USB C cable and route the dongle out of the tray where the USB plug is and stick it in a hidden place with velcro. The new Kia formware gives me split screen so I can have carplay on 2/3rds of the screen and something else (for me XM Radio) on the other. It's a 10" display so there is plent of display room. Before the CarPlay screen was full screen.

Yeah what ever version works for each person is what is best. They claim 98% of cars but I think thats not with every firmware version, every phone OS. and car variability. I suspect they felt 1.22 was the best for most. Naturally not for us all. I was good on 1.22 till I was not. 3.04 is best for me at the moment. Not sure I would switch unless I have an issue. As to OTA versus memory stick upgrades the process is the same and has the same risk, Be carful don't pull things out early. Supposed to wait until you ahave both blue and red lights.

Sounds like an ideal set up. I too already have an alternative USB C cable to assist with hiding it. In my scenario it’s behind a dash door under the head unit. Right now with the CP2A, the usb sticks out so the door won’t close. I have a flat ribbon cable. Knock plastic too, the CP2A is working close to flawlessly. An audio skip every now and then, and trouble connecting once in a while after a quick stop. The new has to be a little better and faster.

After using the CP2A for three weeks now, I can definitely see the permanently affixed cable breaking at some point in my case. Mine is at a 90 degree angle coming out of the port.

I bought the USB switch from Amazon that you see us GM owners using due to how our USB ports are powered, but one of the other reasons that I got it was to keep from having to plug in and remove the USB cable, once as you get into the car and once as you get out. I was sure that was going to kill that usb plug and cable and as you noted it's permanently attached. The new adapter with usb-c on a plug is a big advantage. Sadly I have a CP2A and we don't have that yet.

Thanks, I did see the posts on this switch and the modifications to it to make it work. I searched Amazon for a USB-C switch and couldn't find it. Fortunately, I am not plugging and unplugging too much, but I do feel when I have to I am putting stress on the connection and it will eventually break which will be bad because you can't replace the affixed cable without soldering.

I am sure I can source something to create a power switch if I need to. At the moment it is not a big deal. I also don't want more crap in the dash tray.

This is my solution to enable me to close my dash door where the inputs are behind. Included behind this door is a phone tray that slides in and out so the phone could be fully pushed into the dash. The dongle will sit on the phone tray and the plug is right next to it. My hope is that this flat USB cable will allow me to close the door. Currently the plug sticks out too much including 90 degree plugs.

None of my USB-C cables not fitting in the adapter. I have about 4 different USB C cables and none of them fit in this box except the short cable that came with it. The included cable fits in any other USB-C jack and my other USB-C cables fit in everything else but none will fit in this device ..... I have even trimmed away some of the plastic from the end of MY cables but they still don't fit. These are Apple and Samsung cables and a couple generic. Was trying to avoid using their cable with an adapter.

Even my Anker male USB-C adapter won't fit.

Edit: I figured it out. EVERY USB-C cable I have is too thick (the plastic protection above the actual connector itself) to be inserted into the adapter. I originally cut the plastic on MY cable SHORTER but it was the thickness not the depth. I took one of them and filed it down and it now fits. The "hole" in the case where the USB-C goes is exactly made for the included cable but not any of my others including a DELL from my laptop, a Samsung from my Samsung phone, an Apple cable and 1 generic cable.. Not sure if this cable is out of spec or my other 4 cables are but in any case I was able to get it to fit with some filing and was able to hide the box inside my glovebox..
