Well after 10 days for 3 day shipping, I finally got my Carplay2Air adapter last night. Was frustrated at first as i would plug it in the USB port and the interface would not display on my 2016 Silverado. After reading through the post this morning I cleared out my personal settings in the MyLink and boom it connected. When checking for an update it said i was running the latest firmware 2020.03.18.1455. I supposed this is 3.18 as I thought 3.06 was the latest...

Agree with the comment of lots of issues with Chevy/GM vehicles. I’m intrigued with the fact you said you got it connected at least once manually. How exactly? I’ve seen nothing but the red LED and nothing else when plugging it in my 2020 Malibu and 2019 Equinox.
Reset newwork settings on my iPhone. Made sure I wasn't connected to my home wifi or any other wifi and bluetooth (Apple Watch). Started the truck first, put in dongle, it took like 1-3 minutes to connect without touching anything on the infotainment. It connected, but the last two days, all I'm seeing is red on the dongle like you. It will not connect like it did before, once out of every 10-12 times. Roxanne has been emailing me, now that I asked yesterday for a refund, I didn't hear from her. Sounds fishy to me.

You are the second one to get 3.18 pre-loaded. The other was a new USB-C model, so I guess 3.18 isn't just designated for that. I wonder why they aren't putting 3.18 OTA? I checked yesterday.

Try this from another user on here that it worked for. This is done on the truck not the phone.

Last week I posted in this thread about having issues with nothing at all happening on a 2016 Silverado, but having it work in 2015 Tahoe (with 2017 infotainment hardware).

The Tahoe always had issues with steering wheel controls totally not working with my wife's iPhone XS, but working with my iPhone 11.

I spent an hour in the Tahoe with her phone, and found "Settings -> Return to Factory Settings -> Clear All Private Data". Suddenly the steering wheel controls started working again with her phone.

So then I figured let me go try this in the Silverado and try the Carplay2air adapter again. Boom, it worked instantaneously!

Hi,
I just tried this and it didn't work for me. Prior to this what settings and or what did you turn off on the iPhone like home wifi any bluetooth devices etc?
After I tried, went into my 2016 Corvette and it always connects ASAP...No clue here at all and why.
Thanks, Jerry

On your phone search Settings/CarPlay then tap on the one for your truck and click forget it. Then start the process over.

1. remove the CarPlay2air dongle.
2. Start the truck and let the screen boot up.
3. Reconnect the dongle.
4. Open Bluetooth setting on the phone and search for the name displayed on the screen.
5. Let it finish the set up.
6. Allow CarPlay if it asks.

see pictures attached.

As soon as I get back home, I'll try this...thanks a lot

Hi, thanks again for trying to help!! Did what you said and all I get is a red light and nothing happens. Go back to my Vette works perfect. There has to be something stopping it from connecting. Any other ideas?
Thanks, Jerry

Just tried it on my son's iPhone 10, red-light only.

Here you go. Mine is a 2020 Malibu. My wife’s 2019 Equinox with the identical system also only results in the solid red LED.

It's coming on new Carplay2Air units that are arriving to customers. I've had mine now for a week and it came with 3.18 preinstalled.

Yes but they haven’t made it an available OTA upgrade for everyone which makes me wonder if they pre loaded it based on the car you have if you communicated that to them before shipping.

They asked me before shipping the new version. We shall see when it arrives.

I got my unit a couple weeks ago, it's never worked (tried it in 4 different cars - all on their list of supported models) so I don't know what came on it. I've already refreshed it.

I just got the USB C model direct from their factory. Paid the $20 extra for express shipping and had it in like 4 days. Wasn't working too well in my 2020 Kia Soul EX but I just did Kia's map & software upgrade and now it is working great.

The "final" firmware after update was 2020.01.22.2233

TB07 thats actually Jan 22 the only OTA we all could get if use OTA update method. Others were given links to manually download March 4, 6, and other dates to their computer for copying to a flash drive and update that way. Though on this forum the only archives we have are March 4 and 6. Initially for me Jan 22 was good but an Iphone update made it crappy car drift off maps gps issue and audio skipping music wise.

March 4 for me works really well in my Palisade with my Iphone running current IOS. March 6 was not good for me. The updates if you download them all have the same name so unless you use the OTA updater to check the loaded version or poeple keep careful track of what they downloaded its easy to get confused... Note that at the moment no one has found the ability to download newer versions then January 22nd as Carlinkit/Carplay pulled them off their servers. Not sure why they did. For many various March updates are the only thing that makes device work well again. Fortunately some saved their updates before they were pulled off the Carlinkit site.

Hey all just a side note about getting things set up in any car. All the directions here are good but a few have been left out..

1. Change your wifi settings and have it forget your HOME Wifi network. This is a big one it can cause issues because the device needs to use both Wifi and and bluetooth to get things hooked up at least initially (and still uses both once set up). Still can be wanky for some once set up if your Phone prefers home wifi over carlinkit when your too close to home. Crazy that it is Apple does not have a manual way to choose Wifi priority. The phone tries to guess your preferred priroty and may guess wrong.

2. You may have to have your phone forget both its carplay, and bluetooth connections to your car and vs. versa, remove all connections from your car to your phone as well.

2. Be Patient and try a few times, especially after having all bluetooth and wifi forgotten as above. The handshaking process can not be rushed, especially the first time. The instructions the manufacturer provides are not that lucid when you have never done it before. It took me about 4 tries on my phone and only 1 try on my wife's (Both Iphone 8 plus). I just knew the process better after.

3. For some it may pay to use another car to get the firmware updated and then return your own. Or you can download March 4th or 6th from here which may be more likely to work then whatever shipped or Jan 22. ** We do not have enough experience with March 18 that some have shipped with and I would only downgrade if its not working well for you. I would try harder first with March 18 because we don't have it.

Good Luck

For those with the March 18 firmware, does it say “you have the latest firmware” when checking for OTA upgrades? Just curious, you would think so but since 3.18 is not on the server you never know. I guess I’m wondering if mine come with 3.18 and I check for updates will it think 1.22 is newer. Want to be careful to not overwrite 3.18.

Unrelated, I think they pulled the manual updates to stop people from bricking and returning like me.
