Apps CARROT Weather's customizable complications

i might be wrong but i don't think that's where we're looking for it? only in the large location complication rather than the app?

Asterisks are at the end, but it should show up as "Unk***" if the asterisks are going to show up. The data was probably just cached from the update before you installed the latest beta - next time, you can open the main Watch app to force the complication to refresh. "Current" and "Current Location" shouldn't show up anymore on the complication.

Yeah, this has been good because we can now confirm that the app is *trying* to update its location. watchOS 2 just has some issues with location updates (see other devs who have been having similar issues) that I'll have to figure out workarounds for.

Slightly different behaviour today. Arrived home from same location as yesterday, and large complication is showing Current (no ampersand/asterisks). I'm purposely not opening main app to force a location update.
Edit: now showing location of a town I passed through on the way home 15 miles away.
Edit: After 90 minutes, showing correct location with ampersand.
Edit: After 4 hours, still showing correct location with ampersand.

Have also had another current during the course of tonight.
 
Not sure how those "currents" are still slipping through ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

I'm getting this most of the time now.

Good signal area as well as strong wifi signal.

Complication hasn't updated for at least 1 1/2 hours.

The only way to get rid of this and get the correct reading is to tap the complication.

i was the proud owner of an & when i went for a walk earlier; since then it's turned to an Unk**.

Can i infer from this after a certain number of failed attempts the cache is dumped and the last known location no longer kept?

I'm not quite sure what's happening with the "unknown" and "current" locations, going to investigate that today and hopefully get another beta out this afternoon. In those cases, it *has* a valid location, but the name of the location isn't being fetched from Apple's servers for some reason - either because it's skipping the fetch or it's taking too long to return a response.

That's because I'm just dumping the location from the cache throughout the day because I don't trust that the last cached location is valid.

could it be that apple actually return "current location" as a location?

Not in this case, since you just feed them a set of GPS coordinates and they spit back a city name - they don't know that it's the user's current location or anything like that. I do, however, have "Current Location" come back as the result if the request returns an error. So that might be why it's still showing up.
 
I'm also noticing this:

Complication states one location but opening the app on the watch shows my true location, come out of the app back to my watch face and it still shows the incorrect location.

Also note that the feels like temp is incorrect

"&" showing on almost all locations now.

Also, I've both large and small complications showing the "feels like" temperature and you'll see they are reading different temperatures.

I honestly think if the developer wasn't so active in assisting I'd of moved to a different app by now.

Don't forget that Apple never intended us to use multiple complications for the same app. One complication can be updated at a completely different time from another - so there's no reason to think that they'll necessarily be in sync.

Working on the ampersand issue now!

Sometime I wish Apple would release some of the strict guidelines to their devises.

You can't do this.
You can only do so much of that.

And don't get me started on not even allowing us to change the background on the Modular watch face........

As mentioned, and I hope I can speak for all of us involved in this thread we all appreciate your continued support with the running of this app.

Agree with this 100%. I've never seen this level of interaction from a developer trying to get things working right. I will recommend this app for a reason no more than this. And it's a great app!

Just an update - return trip this afternoon and locations updating frequently and no ampersands. 5 minutes after arriving home, correct location showing. Massive improvement today ;)

Well if yours is working well it can only be related to location and signal as I've been getting the "&" for the last couple of days.
