Hello

I was wondering if you could help please MOC?

I bought your app for my recently purchased AW2 and I've got a problem with the location. I've got carrot as a complication on my watch face. When I first downloaded it, it was correctly getting my location as Ipswich (i'm in the UK). I work in another town half an hour away, Bury st Edmunds. When I got to the office it located me at bury, but since then it can't seem to pick up that I'm back home in Ipswich!

I've tried refreshing my location to no avail.

Thanks!

Sure, send me an email at support at meetCARROT dot com. Oh, and check your Settings app, then go to Privacy, then Location Services, and make sure CARROT is set to "always" instead of "while using".

Someone actually just brought that up this past week with me - weird that no one mentioned it before! I agree and will be changing that for the next update.
Thank you! I noticed that sometime over the past year but just learned to look at the hourly forecast - here in Virginia it can start off at 72 and then end up in the 40s by the afternoon .....it can be a little tricky in the fall and spring here :)

How big of an impact does this make to battery life on phone/watch by using always instead of while using? I bought the app and subscription and like it so far but am worried that using always will destroy my phone battery life. Not as much worried about the watch since I usually have 50% life left at the end of the day.

If app is in dock on watch wouldn't it be pulling the updated data if the phone app was while using and it was active?

I use a special feature on iOS called “significant location change monitoring”. Rather than keeping the GPS on all the time, it just updates via cell tower triangulation when you’ve moved a significant distance from your last monitored location. This shouldn’t affect your battery since it doesn’t actually turn the GPS on at all, but Apple does keep the location arrow in your status bar so that you’re aware an app is using this feature. Normal background usage is 1-2% of battery if you check the battery section in the iPhone's Settings app.

Awesome that is very smart. Thx.

Just wanted to add - this is probably the best apple watch app so far and makes good use of the complications in all different types of modes.

A real shame most of the other watch apps are so far behind.

I say only half jokingly that a lot of the input MoC has gotten here has contributed to this in a meaningful way. As a developer, you have to have a vision of what you're trying to do, but you also have to listen to your customers, too. MoC does a great job of that!

WOW! Is all I can say about CARROT'S new fitness beta app. I won't say a lot as it is a beta version. The integration with the Apple Watch is as GOOD as the Weather app (better than 98% of the WatchOS apps out there) you can tell the passion that Maker Of Carrot puts into his Apps.

I power walk between 4 to 5 miles a day as well as ride a recumbent exercise up and down a mountain program so I am in pretty good shape.

My core is weak and this is where the CARROT fitness app is great!

What stands out is the level of CARE put into the Program and the WatchOS program. I run a ton of apps on my Watch (I have 3 Apple Watches, 2 series 0 watches and a Series 2)

This is in the top!

I wish the big name Fitness companies would put 20 percent of the effort into their WatchOS App!

WOW!

Ps. I am NOT connected to CARROT just a big fan!!! I was able to beta test the fitness app through the same process used for the weather app.

I posted this here as I understand that this is off topic a bit but you guys all know the level of care Maker of Carrot puts into his other apps.

My battery drained on my watch and when it came back on I can't get the carrot complication to show anything but blank lines. Is there a reason for this? Do I have to resync my complication again in the app?

What happens when you tap the complication to open the main app? If the app doesn't open after 5 or 10 seconds, just restart your watch and that should take care of it.

I uninstalled and reinstalled after restart didn't work. Resynced complications. No change. Opened app on watch. No change. Went in and picked my city again on iPhone app and it updated. Not sure why it didn't default my city again but could've been something I did. First time my watch had actually drained since getting carrot. No issues now. Thanks.

Widget in 10.1.1 and your latest beta is not working correctly

I get a blank widget (no weather info)

If you're having issues with the widget or complication in the beta, just restart. Bug in iOS 10 / watchOS 3 after an app updates.

Not sure if it is a bug or a feature. But I see units in small complication randomly. Sometimes "kmh" is is displayed another day not. Showing just the number and the direction of wind looking good. So I got idea about choosing to display or not of units in the settings.

Feature request: maintain past hours' temps/conditions in memory so that you can time travel backwards in Carrot. Tried to do that this morning to check low temp this past night. When you try to do that, the complication dims (to be fair, not just Carrot's complication, but also others (Apple Stocks app).

Ah, I think the units don't display in the second case because the text is too long, so it removes the units to prevent the text from getting truncated. I'll look into just removing the units in a future update.

Will look into this one as well.

got to say, i love the improvement in legibility with the white text instead of the grey text on precipiation chance and temp+conditions... but is there some reason it can't be done for the precipitation chance on the temp + precipitation chance complication? :)

Sadly, you can only "highlight" one line in the small complications - so one of them has to be dimmed. :(

looks like i've got some hard choices to make then :( the beta of carrot fit has allowed me to have a large conditions next to the temp&precip chance... but the readability of the white text has made me switch to precip chance next to condition & temp. i was hoping i could go back eventually :(

is there no way to represent the temperatures pictorially rather than textually to get around that? or would it be too big a file size for all the different permutations.

Yeah, the file sizes would likely be too large to handle ~150 different temperatures :\

i imagine it'd be a lot more than 150, with the different colours (purple, red, yellow, blue) and both celsius/Fahrenheit... back to the "crazy ideas from beta testers that might just work" drawing board i guess
