It's hard enough to take shots without accidentally getting a finger in the frame on my XS. I'd hat to think of what a pain this'll be.

for your hobby i hope, i would be annoyed that i hire a photographer and all he use is his iphone 😂
You’d be surprised how many professional photographers are using iPhones in the field. Will it replace dslrs for things like wildlife or sports photography? Of course not. But the line is blurring. If anything, it is a great secondary backup camera for photographers or for shooting b roll for videographers. No joke. Some big name Hollywood directors have used the iPhone to shoot parts or all of their movies on an iPhone. Steven Soderbergh for one.

That's a huge bump! With such large island, I wonder if it's better to just center it instead of keeping it in the corner. Center and a wider and skinnier island might look better.
Then you possibly risk scratching the lens with a ring on your finger as you hold the phone.

We need more, better and bigger cameras in the iPhone....said no one.

At what point is enough enough?
Never! Until the millennial dont have a DSLR shooter in their pocket that can record Cinema HDR quality video in 8K it won't be enough. TikTok and Instagram stories deserve the best of the best. They will buy a new iPhone even if it cost as much as a freaking iMac, and the image quality improvement is barely distinguishable from the last generation device.

If you look at the thread on here with photos taken by the 12 pro max , some of the examples are incredible , makes you question why anyone bothers with anything but a dedicated dslr

Camera phones have cannibalized that market long ago. What remains is enthusiast-type camera gear -- a market that camera phones cannot touch unless they figure out how to somehow defy physics.
Unless Canon/Sony etc. start putting computational photography into their higher end bodies, phones will catch up.

PS: Apple needs to make night mode able to be switched OFF by default. So hard to do fast motion shots as by the time you turn it off you miss the moment.

Why do you need a bigger or better battery tech, a faster CPU or GPU in the phone every year? ... you answer that and you have your answer about the cameras. It really isn't that difficult of a concept to grasp.
