Nice, I am planning to buy my first next year, a 12 inch iPad Pro. Hope it includes features such as 3D Touch, True Tone and a optimized iOS for the large screen, accessible file system, even if its integrated with iCloud.
Already exists, enough of this tired nonsense.

I'm getting excited about the 10.5" model because I like the idea of higher pixel density with the work space of the 12.9" Pro in a smaller form factor. Pair that with 4GB RAM and an A11(X?) chip and I'm sold. If it debuts at WWDC and just has an A10 or A10X, then it's going to be a tough sell for me, especially if Apple insists on only updating the iPad every 1.5-2 years. A newer Apple Pencil would be nice, especially if it has those features from the patent such as hover mode and pinch gestures for contextual menus, but not necessary for me to upgrade from my iPad Air 2. If they can't swing the A11 quite yet (they've unveiled the A4 and A5 before the iPhone versions in the past), then I hope they just wait until the autumn and update after the iPhone as I think it's pretty dumb that my new iPhone is faster than this "Pro" machine. Hopefully they also bump the base storage since even the iPhone SE starts at 32GB now.

Not quite the workspace of a 12.9 inch iPad Pro - 2.4 inches less in fact. So not really the same.

More or less. "Improved iCloud Drive" might be a more realistic request. A bit more Finder-like implementation in the app (able to move documents from one App folder to another for example).

For iOS 11, I'd like to see pointer support for apps for "laptop mode". They can always refuse apps that don't also work 100% with touch to prevent "abuse".

If those are accurate, I guess it shatters my dream of having an extra lightning port in place of the headphone jack. Lots of "pro-ish" situations where having an extra Lightning port is more useful than a headphone jack (since the port can be a headphone jack too if it wants).
Assuming of course they won't be using USB C :)

There's a new Bluetooth product called AirPods that may solve your problem.

Lol, no. If you need this, you need a laptop. Stop trying to make the iPad into a laptop. It is not.

People that NEED laptops for work, don't understand that it is not "their work" that iPad is intended to serve.

In computing, it's quite common to refer to the work space (or desktop) as the resolution of the display, not the same physical area. For instance, Apple used to ship the MBP with a 1440x900 display, but also shipped a 1680x1050 "hi-res" model that had a larger work space, even though it was the same physical area. This is everything to do with fitting more content on the display and less to do with how big said content is. Given the slight increase in size and the retina resolution, I find this to be an excellent trade off to get the same exact resolution as the iPad Pro 12.9" in the smaller 10.5" model.

I have a 9.7" iPad Pro and the one thing that irks my OCD is that the top speakers are not symmetrical with the bottom speakers. They are with the 12.9"

So it will be a big iPhone 7, probably with solid state home button, and available in black. Will probably have 3D Touch. Meh. Not enough for me to upgrade. I'll wait for the bezeless OLED version with virtual home button - probably 2018 :/
Its a tablet so personally I find the bezel and a non-onscreen home button to be better for handling the device.

I find that on Macs it doesn't matter, on phones it only really matters when playing games or holding while watching a video, and on tablets it matters almost all the time.

Personally I think this is enough to upgrade, possibly even from something like the 9.7" Pro (although that's very dependent on what 10.5" features materialise in the final product). I always see the same thing saying 'it's not enough to upgrade' - some people have been saying that for years. However there's truth to that from generation to generation (the only exception in my mind is the Air 2, which was a great Air sucessor), and it shouldn't be expected that the next generation is enough to get the prior gen owners to upgrade. That doesn't even happen with Apples favourite product, the iPhone.

Honestly, I'm surprised there are not multiple microphones to support dimensional and directional sound. It's about time that iPads could do that.
There were initially intended to be 4 microphones but it looks like they've gone with a dual microphone design unless they've relocated the other 2 microphones. It is something I would like to see though, espwdially now we have truly stereo speakers to playback on.

No, if I want this, then I want some laptop-like functions for my device that is primarily a tablet. You might be ignoring the dedicated connector on iPad Pros for an external keyboard if you think "turning your iPad into a laptop" is such a crazy idea & that Apple wouldn't consider it. And it's a function that Apple's primary competitors do have (Chromebooks on the low end, Surface Pros on the high).

It gets worse, the camera design aside, if you have the rose gold 9.7" model the smart connector inner circles are SILVER! I can safely say, 'that wouldn't happen if Steve Jobs were alive'.

Yes, the existence of AirPods means that Apple could have replaced the headphone jack with a second Lightning port. Along with the Lightning to headphone adapter.

My point was that there are a few "pro" reasons to want more than one device connected to an iPad. A single USB C port would resolve them, but if they are sticking with Lightning, it'd be cool to have two ports. For example, HDMI out and Ethernet at the same time. Or digital i/o out and a midi device etc. Would just make it more versatile and either port could always be turned back into a headphone jack.

Eek. I never noticed this but you're absolutely right. That's something I can't unsee.

Looking forward to the new 12.9 with bezels or 'without' bezels I don't really care. Just would like the bigger form factor.

For iOS 11 I hope to god they fix the page forward swipe in Safari on iPad. It's only been there for the whole of iOS 10. Very poor on Apple software team's part.
Works perfectly on iOS 9 on old iPad 3 and perfectly in iOS 10 on iPhone.

Those cases look yeah.... will be interesting to see what they do to the 13" model to update it. May have to take a look at one.

What forward swipe issue are talking about? I'm curious
As I have an iPhone 6S and iPad Pro 9.7" so I'll give it a try.

To be or not to be a bigger iPad than a mini depends on iOS 11. If we only get some new Emojis, an iPad mini is still enough. It does have the same pixels as an iPad 9.7.

If iOS 11 is again an Emoji-Release and iPad mini won't be sold anymore or being updated, I think about selling everything, even my iPhone 7+ and using Samsung S8 with DEX Docking Station. This is the way to go. My Personal Computer always with me. No need to sync data from a Cloud anymore. Everything in my Pocket on one device. This is one device. Steve also said "one device" when presenting the iPhone.

Yeah I read about this shortly after I got mine. Thankfully I always go for white/silver apple devices since the iPhone 4s and iPad 2

Sorry about that :)

I hope for iOS 11 there are a whole bunch of iPad specific feature/optimisations as it still feels like a big iPod Touch

In Safari you can swipe from left to right to go back a page. You used to be able to (and still can on iPhone) swipe from right to left to go forward.

It still does work but only if you are VERY precise. You can use a flat finger right underneath the address tab and you can make it work.

Not the biggest issue in the world but annoying nonetheless.

How is this getting any traction? To my knowledge, Apple doesn't release the specs to the case manufacturers before the model releases. This case vendor is taking a guess based on leaks, not on actual specs. It makes for a good size comparison but it's nothing more than guesswork.

I think it's really a combination of everything. The initial leaks, confirmations by reputable sources, the wallpapers in the new beta, and now case leaks. It's just a lot of smoke for no fire. Yes, guesswork, but supported guesswork.

These case manufacturers develop a Prototype based on rumored specifications and what it potentially has the ability to resemble when the iPad releases. They don't know first hand what the iPad will ultimately look like, but once the product releases, they make a mold and immediately manufacture and mass produce the cases. With the capability of etching/cutting machines in today's technology, they can produce mass amounts in a days worth of time to meet the demand and compete with Apple's OEM cases.

I can swipe from the right just fine. You simply have to stay away from the middle as that invokes Slide Over.

No, these are accurate for the new iPad Pros. You'll see when they're released I guess, if you're a 'don't believe until they've announced' person?

Where is the story about the beta wallpapers?

Interesting. iOS 10 on iPad? Which model?
We have 3 here - 2 iPad Air 2's and an iPad Pro 9.7 and all exhibit same behaviour.
It simply doesn't work and never has in iOS 10 unless you specifically swipe right under the tab bar. It doesn't work anywhere else - simply invokes slide over as you mention.

Yeah totally agree the iPad mini is the best Size tablet, i too love the 7.9 form factor.
---------------------------------------------------------------
For the smaller-screened iPad mini, recent rumors havesuggested that Apple might discontinue the devices :- Macrumors quote

Why not Apple discontinue the 9.7 ipad as it will be similar to 10.5 form factor, and keep iPad mini alive for those who don't need bigger iPads

They will. They will phase it out over ~2-3 years though, like they do with all products they discontinue.
