As my post above from last year shows, I used FlipSwap then, and had good results. This year, Gazelle offered me more for my wife's 3GS, so I used them. I had a great experience with them. They sent me box to ship it in, and they sent me a check for the full amount almost immediately, even though I didn't include the sync cable or wall charger that came with the phone.

You should also check out http://www.buymytronics.com/.I sold my iphone 2G to them, and with a cracked screen and some other issues I got $65. They are legit, my sister's ex-boyfriend works for them and they are local here in Denver.

I have a 3GS in EXCELLENT condition in original box, earbuds, charger and was offered the PRINCELY sum of $71.00. Nope, that wasn't a typo: seventy one dollars.

I would like to know what these people are smoking

check out the website http://www.topdollarcell.com I sold my iphone to them. They had the best price and offered higher than gazelle and other websites. A lot better than ebay and craigslist also because you don't have to deal with creepy people, and fees. The price you get for the phones, may be the price you get offered to end your contract. You may even make money. I also talked to one of their reps during the transaction and they stated that the only time that they change their quote is if something was totally off. I sell my stuff to them now and don't deal with the rip off companies like gazelle.

You should change your font bro.

CNet had a very lengthy article on this shady company...definitely stay away

http://news.cnet.com/8301-30686_3-5...-old-iphone-ask-maggie/?tag=TOCcarouselMain.0

These places are ridiculous and that's why I still think Craigslist is the best place to sell your iphone. I sold my ip4 that I just got replaced from Apple (4.3.5) for $375 on Monday and you can't beat that with the ripoff amounts that these companies give. Just be smart and meet inside a Starbucks or something. That's what I've done for all the iphones I've bought and sold on CL.

Wirelessly posted (Mozilla/5.0 (iPhone; CPU iPhone OS 5_0_1 like Mac OS X) AppleWebKit/534.46 (KHTML, like Gecko) Version/5.1 Mobile/9A405 Safari/7534.48.3)

I sold my 3G to mazuma about a year ago and got the price they quoted which I think was about £200. To be honest I was actually expecting less than that as there was quite a few scratches on it and there was a crack growing from the dock connector up the back of the phone so was pleasantly surprised! Because of the good experience with them I would probably treat these companies with a bit less suspicion than I did before but it is only one experience. Clearly some people do get ripped off. I do think it's worth not writing them off straight away though. I think the thing is to do your research. Even though mazuma offered slightly less than most of the other companies I went with them because of people writing things like I just have. Judging by the last few comments in this thread I'd probably stay away from this one. I'm not necessarily saying mazuma is the one to go for as my experience is just one and that was over a year ago so I don't know what other opportunities there are now. But my point is that I would definitely suggest considering these companies if I were selling a phone second hand now and not just dismiss them for having dodgy sounding names or whatever. Just do your research first!

do not use cashforiphones.com

on the website i got a quote of $187 for my iPhone. After I sent in, about a month later i received an email offering $80. I called to inquire why and to ask for my phone back. They said i had 7 days to respond to their offer and it was now too late. This was over this past thanksgiving and i was not able to call until the 7th day. but they refused to do anything saying "too bad". I left 3 voice mails for "Darren" to complain and he never returned any of my voice mails.

Basically, it's a scam and they do not pay you anywhere near what the website says.

You're better off selling on ebay/craigslist or giving your phone to a friend.

Sounds like another shady site.
Reminds me of sites that offer cash for Gold using the mail.
Send in your stuff and then they offer you pennies on the dollar of what its worth. And when you refuse their cheap offer they tell you sorry too late, we already melted your gold:D

OP, any company that wants to buy your iPhone will rip you off. Sell it yourself and get what it's worth.

This company has an advertisement in google search to buy your iphone 4. It looks like it was a legitimate site so I tried it out. I told them what type of phone I had and the specs and condition of the iphone 4 and they gave me a quote. I mailed the iphone to them and they received the iphone4. They call me to negotiate the price and right then I new something was not right. They tell me now that the iphone 4 is not worth what they offered me. My iphone 4 was in excellent condition, I had it in a case and had a screen protector on it and sent it back with all the accessories and original box. They went down $100.00 less what they had original offered me. They did not even want to negotiate at all since now they my phone, when I said return my phone they told me it will take 3 to 4 weeks to get back. So I gave in and accepted what they offered because they already had my phone. Do not trust these people they are out to get over on you. I hope I get the money they did offered me. Beware !!!!!!
You are part of the problem. You and the other poster that "gave in". YOU gave them exactly what they wanted, they bait and switched you and you swallowed it hook line and sinker. Consumers need to start standing up for themselves or these companies will continue to rip you off.

lol don't know what. seems like other sites offer similar prices, These are the offers i got for my 3GS 16GB, in broken condition (Due to displays issues) from these three websites i tested the prices and here they are

as of march 9, 2012

$30.00 - http://www.Gazelle.com
$58.78 - http://www.CashitGadget.com
$42.00 - http://www.nextworth.com

Im not sure what working condition would give me, i could fix mine maybe and get more, but I'm still trying to decide.

Has anyone had luck selling to any of these places?

It's a touch more work, but you'll get much more money by selling it yourself via Craigslist, eBay, or an equivalent.

They're legit. I sold my 3G to them last year even though the quote was on the low side. Forgot the details but I got the full quote after a few weeks. My phone had no defects at all. It was always in a case.

I've heard that they will inspect the phone closely and deduct for every tiny defect they find. That shouldn't be a surprise to anyone though.

They are offering $485 for my 3GS right now! My phone is in perfect condition. I may go for it....

They are legit, but don't trust that "quoted" figure. they quoted me at $180, but after I sent it to them, they then decided that it was worth $80.

prices

I tried the quote link on the home page of Cashforiphones just for fun and they quoted me $435 for the 3GS 32GB with nothing wrong with it.

This looks like a old post, but the 3Gs, doesn't seem to be worth that much.

It always makes me wonder when they offer a really high price, i feel like i would actually feel better if the price was lower tp begin with, because i would feel they would hold to the offer.

Back to the old adage: "If its too good to be true, it probably isn't true" lol...

CashForIphones SCAM

The company is despicable and will try to get you to agree to a ridiculous price when they receive the phone. They are a bunch of scumbags and i have made numerous complaints to the Better Business Bureau (BBB.Org). The company's rating is a C currently so do yourself a favor and DONT do business with them..

You're quoting a post that's almost 2.5 yrs old.

Fraudulent Scam Artists cashforiphones.com

It's embarrassing to admit that you were scammed. However, in the interest of doing what's right, I need to make sure other people are aware of this scam and admit I was scammed. I’m writing this memo to keep you, your family and friends from having this happen to them. So here’s my story..
I recently re-signed with Verizon and purchased two new iPhones. Since I wanted to talk to Verizon about giving me a better deal, one similar to what they give new subscribers, I contacted them by phone. After getting a reduced price I ordered two phones from them and ask them if I could sell my phone to Verizon at the local store. They said that I could. I decided to look on the Internet and see what my two iPhone5s were worth. I went to cashforphone.com to get an estimate.
The website was a glowing report on how fast, easy and reliable it was, with all sorts of endorsements from the Better Business Bureau, Wall Street Journal, etc. Within a few minutes I had a quote for over $200 each and a place to print out a label to send them my phones postage free, with a promised turn-around of a few days after they received my phones. I figured that any company that had been in this business for 12 years would have to be a legitimate company with a good reputation to have stayed in business. I couldn't have been more wrong!
In retrospect, what I should have done was do a Google search on the company as a possible spammer and this is what I would have found. The company that was founded 12 years ago is named Laptop and Desktop Repair, LLC in Sparks, Nevada. Six and a half years ago this company formed cashforlaptops.com, cashforiphones.com, cashforipads.com, cashforsmartphones.com and cashforbarrys.com websites. Apparently to scam the public. The last three sites have been closed down and rerouted to ecyclebest.com.
A google search on any or all of these websites for possible scams lists hundreds of complaints, all telling the same story. They quote you a slightly higher price then the market value to get your phone. After they receive your phone they send you an email that tells you your phone is worth 10 to 15% of what they quoted you and then when you try and get your phones back they tell you that it's too late and you have to accept the new quote, there is no recourse. Not only that, it takes four or five phone calls to even talk to someone and they know why you're calling and they don't care because they get these calls all day long, so they're very rude and make it clear that you have no other options.
Here is the justification they use on practically every call. “When you agreed to send us your phone you agreed to the terms and conditions, which said you needed to notify us within three days if you did not agree to the new price”. (This is one line in a four page document of very fine print.) When you get the email with the bogus number, they don't tell you you have to call them on the phone to reject the quote; they tell you they're sending the check and when I emailed them back that I did not accept their offer, they probably didn't even read it.
Just for the record, the price they offered me was about half the price of an iPhone5 that wouldn't turn on, had a damaged or defective screen and had a bad battery (all of the things they list to use to determine the actual value). In their evaluations, both of my absolutely pristine phones had all of these problems and I guess more, to arrive at that price. Clearly, this company is extremely fraudulent and needs to be put out of business. So I’m on a quest. There are a number of places I plan on sending this email, such as the Better Business Bureau in Nevada, RipoffReport.com, STOPcashforiphones.com, scamadvisor.com, forums.macrumors.com, and PayPal.
If you still want to sell your electronics on the internet, Amazon and eBay both offer a way to sell these devices. These are reputable organizations who believe that it’s important to have a satisfied customer in order to stay in business.
Upon reflection, I lost a fair amount of money, which I never expect to recover. In order to accept that fact, I have to look at that money as an investment in educating myself on being a more informed, critical consumer. Hopefully, you too will get some education from that investment as well.
