Just wondering where do you carry your id's.

Some things are better left unknown. Hopefully he won't feel compelled to show us a photo of where he keeps it. ;)

I do tend to carry cash though. I shop at small mom and pop businesses and cash will save them a few percentage points on credit card fees. Every dollar counts in that world.

As we are increasingly becoming a cashless society with credit cards and digital transactions becoming the primary forms of money transfer, i am surprised and don't understand to see many people totally rely on their cards and phones to pay and never carry even a dollar ?!?!?

I still carry cash between $200-$500 depending what i am doing and also use credit card from time to time so i think i use both equally but never rely 100% on digital transactions.

Can't wait to hear from others. Is USA or wherever you are is becoming like Australia?

we are almost a cashless here (north europe) - and been for years. i dont even know (remember) if i have a money in my wallet or not... i dont either remember when was the last time i used a real cash...

it is ”wierd” to use cash nowadays - e.g. when travelling...

Hi @LizKat ! Thanks for the reminder to refill my prescription.

You are a brat. Point taken, and so you should buy extra for the rest of the week, I'm taking a vacation for the duration of excitement over whatever emanates from the Beltway and ensuing social media brawls this weekend.

Forgot to mention "cash only shops" if you came across one credit or debit card won't help. We have many cash only shops here.

In towns I frequent for supermarket shopping, there are a bunch of cash-only places, mostly pizza shops, laundromats and Chinese takeout.

Haven't seen one in ages.
Heck, once I used the "I don't have cash otherwise I'd buy four" excuse to a 7yo Girl scout selling cookies just to find out - at the price of four boxes - that they now take cards.

Interesting. Was there a day you wished you had cash with you because of technical problems using cards,?

Oh those Girl Scouts! I’ve gone back inside the market to buy something just to get cash back for their cookies. Who can say no to those little girls?

On the times have changed topic. I had a homeless guy ask for a couple of dollars once. I told him, sorry I only have a twenty. He replied, “That’s okay. I can make change.”

Okay, I’m done with the stories.

Even that, I was asked for money because the person said they were hungry. I was on my way to walk in to a restaurant, so I bought a massive $2.99 cookie, brought it back out to them, then walked back into the restaurant to see them toss it into the trash.

I realize not all homeless are this way but I've been burned by people asking for money, I have no problem saying no.

Girl scouts, we always make sure to use debit card so we can get a $20 in cash. Can't say no to those girls. :)

I rarely have cash. I only have cash when I'm paying for things at work (I work in an elementary school) and I don't want to wait for them to cash a check since that can sometimes take a while. I also will get cash when I'm going to a ball game so I can get things from the concession stand. I will be going to a game Friday night, but I'm going with my mom and she always has cash. I can always talk her into a cheeseburger and a drink while we are watching my cousin play some baseball. It's strange the things that she will buy with cash. She won't use her card at a drivethru, for example. She also used to pay for her groceries with a check, but got over that hangup when she saw all the rewards she could get by using her credit card.

My friends use Apple Pay at grocery stores (where available). But most other times, it's cash..

I, always use cash though,, but sometimes use card instead just for convenience. But i guess if Apple Pay existed where i shop, i would probably favor CC over ApplePay...

I'm not about to have a CC in an iPhone digitally.

I doubt it.

I always use cash. Only use my debit card when purchasing online. Don’t own a CC.

I draw out £200 and when it’s spent I draw out another. Easy.

What about change for parking meters etc?

Parking meters will be tap and go in 10 years time i don't think they will use cash. Things are changing very fast. In Melbourne central district you can pay by card or cash. Cash is a pain to the authorities. It takes space, counting is slow and heavy to carry from A to B.

Actually in the US checks are still used quite a bit. Probably because here they really don't have the same legal value they have in Europe (or at least, in Italy).

Wow really? In Australia its almost extinct. Very hardly you use it or see it.

Very wise, credit cards can be a trap avoid.

Christ. Like I'd never misuse cash by saving the homeless guy from possibility of making an error of judgment with cash that had touched my hand. No no, I'd head straight for the newsstand with my cash, because the truth might set me free... ?!

I'd rather see him/her with full stomach than smoke :)

Melbourne central district will adopt things faster than out of town places. They will still be around years from now.
