In case of power loss, net connection or bad reading its always handy to carry cash. Even just for emergencies.
What about tipping , soda machines. Parking...
I carry $20-40 routinely in a wallet, but I buy everything with my credit card. We earn A LOT of frequent flyer miles. Infrequently that cash is spent. When we recently traveled internationally we carried a $100 cash. I remember a time when we used to buy hundreds of name the currency for a particular country, but no more.
I've been advocating for a long time that we should abolish cash all-together. Most banks offer free checking, so I don't understand why any law abiding citizen would be unable to obtain an account.
Not quite, but to open a bank account you must present several forms of ID to prove you are who you say you are. And if you can't even after you exhaust all allowed forms, then it becomes rather questionable as to why you can't.So, only criminals use cash?
So people who use cash don’t have bank accounts? I have several accounts thanks but still use cash when making a purchase in person. Not quite, but to open a bank account you must present several forms of ID to prove you are who you say you are. Where did you pull that from? I'm clarifying for the other member what the other individual said.So people who use cash don’t have bank accounts? I have several accounts thanks but still use cash when making a purchase in person.
Interesting. Was there a day you wished you had cash with you because of technical problems using cards,?
Depends where you live, NYC still has a pretty high "cash culture" where as here in Phoenix its card card card card, and then you'll hit one guy using cash. No cash only stores I can think of either ever since Square was a thing.Cashless only when shopping on the internet
Many stores in NYC still don’t accept Apple Pay as well as most restaurants. And then there are restaurants that are ‘ cash only
Gas stations also offer a better price for Cash
While a Cashless is coming there’s still a need for cash

As we are increasingly becoming a cashless society with credit cards and digital transactions becoming the primary forms of money transfer, i am surprised and don't understand to see many people totally rely on their cards and phones to pay and never carry even a dollar ?!?!?
I still carry cash between $200-$500 depending what i am doing and also use credit card from time to time so i think i use both equally but never rely 100% on digital transactions.
Can't wait to hear from others. Is USA or wherever you are is becoming like Australia?
We call those debit cards.I have to carry cash because many bakeries and small restaurants in Germany don't take credit or even giro cards.
(Giro cards are some proprietary German format that directly charges to your bank account)
