Looking DOWN at the screen? How uncomfortable for the neck, head and eyes will that turn out to be?

Certainly looks cool and all, but it's totally useless imo.

The very title of this discussion implies copying.

Now. Read this :

The patent isn't about the design.

Steve Jobs would laugh your comment out of this thread.

Here's why: when using a touch display, how long do you think your arms can stand being lifted straight forward vs. resting down on a flat surface?

I sometimes wonder.. do people just bring down non-apple products for the sake of it or because they believe apple's execution of anything and everything is the only acceptable way of doing something???

Ever notice how the people that yell the loudest are usually wrong?

From Webster's:
Definition of BEZEL
1: a rim that holds a transparent covering (as on a watch, clock, or headlight) or that is rotatable and has special markings (as on a watch)
2: the oblique side or face of a cut gem; specifically : the upper faceted portion of a brilliant projecting from the setting — see brilliant illustration
3: a usually metal rim of a piece of jewelry in which an ornament (as a gem) is set

#1 is spot on.

PS, the word you were trying to use was "border"

Actually #1 is NOT spot on. The black border is not a rim that holds a covering in place. :D

Congratulations, you derailed the thread into another stupid 'copycat' thread.

Well considering a number of 'tilting' display all-in-ones exist (and have done for a few years now), they must be willing to let that patent go.

While most monitor displays tilt, not a lot go to a horizontal position and lower it closer to the table.

what stood out to me was the sluggishness of the touchscreen. that needs to improve 100% before things like this will sell.

its a good design and i imagine one day iMacs will be very similar to this and it'll be great. but the software and OSes in general have to catch up to it otherwise its just a hodgepodge of different technology not working well together.

This has to be the dumbest thing I have ever heard. IN MY ENTIRE LIFE!

Ever heard about tablets, books, smartphones and when you are writing or drawing??

1) Competition breeds innovation. Competition is why we got to the moon. It is a shame that we live in such a litigious society.

2) Edited: Turns out i need to recalibrate my sarcasm meter.

1a) I couldn't agree with you more. Usually I post the exact same response but...well they bash that concept here a lot.

2a) Bingo! You're right again... :)

True confessions ?
My post was a bit of humor & sarcasm just to see how it played. :) :)

So many here are dead serious with little if any humor. They love to twist people posts around to their agenda and bash any commentary just to vent.

For an enjoyable discussion or debate the computer sections are far better.

Seems that the rowdy-angry-judgmental crowd, hang out in the news & iPhone sections. That's my take on it :)

Yeah I am not the rowdy-angry-judgmental type. Not enough time in the day for that. I will have to check out these other sections you speak of. I am way more into that kind of debate anyhow. :) As much as I DO know about technology I KNOW that there are always people that know more than I. I enjoy a healthy debate because as much as I can share, there is much to learn from other folks.
Just an FYI you will NEVER see a neg vote from me in ANY forum unless it's outright untrue or abusive in one way shape or form. In matters of opinion I don't deem my opinion any more valid or important than anyone else on here. De gustibus non disputandum est. (There will not be a disputing of tastes) ;)
I find it interesting to see what folks deem worthy of voting down. I would be lying to say sometimes it makes my head spin. That's alright though . I am new here and I am sure I will figure it out soon enough.

Stunning pricepoint

If this thing is true capacitative multitouch (as theverge reports), it's an amazing price point.

In my academic lab I'm the proud user of 22" and 32" capacitative multitouch displays made by 3M (M2256PW and C3266PW). These cost $1500 and $5000, respectively, for the display only.

$1299 for an all-in-one with a 27" capacitative multitouch display with decent viewing angles is crazy cheap.

Do you have any links to any surveys that say there is substantial demand for a touch screen Mac?

Demand? When has Apple ever developed a product out of demand? They develop, then they tell people "you want this", and people do.

It's really tragic that no tech company, aside from Apple, can have an original idea.

I mean really....thank God we have Apple! Not only for the cool "toys" they make, but also for the great ideas they have that other companies copy.

Thank you Apple.

Yeah I'm sure no one has ever thought of a touch screen that can be shifted between horizontal and vertical before Apple did it just a few years ago...

Ummm why is it wrong to point out copycats when it's true? When I first saw that wallpaper I thought it was an Apple.

Really says more about you than Lenovo. I don't think someone who isn't as dedicated to Apple as you are would make that connection.

And what about your neck staring down at your desk all day? Have any of you done any ergonomics research at all?

Can you please provide a link to a tilting all-in-one that has existed "for a few years now" Please ?

Pretty much every all in one tilts. Bear in mind there is a huge difference between tilting (what the Apple patent covers) and going full horizontal (not covered by the Apple patent).
