Wasn't anticipating this, but I was able to change the shipping address prior to completing the order. Perhaps it's not a policy of Verizon's to have to ship it to the billing address. I had to ship one to my wife in another state and one to myself, worked out great.

Well I got through and the person said I can only change it on the website. I told her that others have done it via the phone and I've done it in years past but she said I can only do it online. I asked to speak with someone else so lets see what happens...

Keep us posted! *bites nails furiously*

Following up, the order status pages are back up and I can confirm that my order is now showing the changed shipping address I had requested over the phone. No change to the delivery date. I also got an email confirmation for the change. Good luck!

Did you just talk to a sales staff person?

When I asked to talked to someone else the sales staff person (who keeps seeming more and more incompetent) transferred me to some tech support guy who says I can only change it online even though I said I was able to do it on the phone before and when I referenced the error message about the wireless provider and changing the address. Now I am currently back in the sales queue waiting to talk to someone else. This experience is getting close to reaching my third worse experience with Apple and their support staff.

What carriers did the people have that were able to change their order?

I think I'm gonna try and take around an hour long lunch today and see if I can get through then. Won't be for an hour and a half or two though. Gah!

I'm just getting a 64GB 6 and that's not sold out yet. I changed AT&T's billing address on my account. I'm tempted to cancel and reorder but that just doesn't sound smart.

Pretty sure it was a sales staff. I chose the option to speak with someone regarding a prior order. I have AT&T

I literally must have had the dumbest sales rep the first time around. I got to a second sales rep (what I also directed the first lady to send me to for a second opinion) and he was able to change it to my billing address easily. Sounded like on the phone that it cannot be shipped just to any address though.

I'm hoping to ship it to my work. I've got a second order for the leather case going to my work address. Did the rep make it sound like the only thing it could be changed to was the billing address?

Called transfered 3 times took 20 minutes. I ask for a shipping address change and the CSR rep said changing the address will change the ship date? Heck no! I hung up and now I'm back on the phone.

Mine didn't say that, the second guy just did it easily. Took me two hours though.

It might be possible but his tone made it sound restrictive such as it is still limited.

a possibility though can't confirm. once you receive your tracking information, contact UPS or FedEx and ask for it to be held at one of their distribution centers near you? I did that when I had my sleep/wake button replaced by apple and it was being mailed to my home but I wouldn't get home until late.

This is a really good idea. I have done this before too.

Has anyone ever done pre sign for delivery? How does that process work?

I go through this with every iPhone order, and it is a pain. I purchased a house within a mile of the USPS and am required to have a PO Box unless I am elderly or disabled. I will never buy a house without a mailbox again; take note!

I was on hold for over an hour, the phone hung up; the norm for me. On hold again, but received an email from Apple asking to reply with a physical address as they cannot send to PO Box. I replied and should get a confirmation email in a day or so. That's how it worked las time anyways. I still like to verify by phone though.

I ask myself why I continue to torture myself with every release, but I think this is my version of S&M LOL; ugh.

The 2nd person did it easily. IDK where they get these crazy people. Took me 20 minutes for the 2nd call. 40 minutes total. IDK if I'm lucky but where are these hour long ques coming from?

They have hired some idiots, that's for sure. My times consisted of 40 minutes on hold and being hung up on, then another 20 to get to the first moron, then 10 to get to a tech advisor (because apparently that's another sales staff, what an idiot I can't get over it), 30 minutes with him sorting things, and then another 20 to do a 1 minute long change.

45 minutes on hold so far...
After being on hold earlier this morning for 30 minutes I gave up.

This is crazy...
