The build is worth a lot.I don't understand why the heck it's supposed to be $999 - because the Mac part is a LARGE PORTION of the iMac - I think REALISTICALLY the new display should be around $500.
But if it's 7K, maybe it will be $999.

There is no MacBook Air coming tomorrow. That is a late Q4 2022 product.Crazy number of rumors now. iPhone SE and iPad Air seem to be locks, but beyond that... Mac mini? Mac studio? 13" MacBook Pro with M2? redesigned MacBook Air with M2? And now this monitor? Seems extremely unlikely it would be all of that.
Ofc I do, but we have joint economics so.Why? You don't have your own money?

A layperson can absolutely appreciate the distinction. Whether they care enough to purchase it is a different story.I specifically wrote “appreciate” and not “see” the difference between 4k and 5k. A vast majority of people won’t care if it’s 1080p or 5k for something like using Office, they just want to get their work done on a decent monitor.
Let's assume the monitor does come out tomorrow. I see a lot of people hoping in ProMotion (I do too). But how can the current generation Macs support ProMotion on it?
Name one decent 5k display (actual HiDPI 5k , not ultrawide) that you can get for $1,000. Outside of the LG 5k Ultrafine, I can't find one decent 5k display, period. For 1000$ you can already buy quite a decent 5k monitor which probably would have the same panel that apple will be using.

In the world of large displays, 27" seems small. And for a desktop, 24" is pretty much the equivalent of the first iMac. I went from a 30" ACD to a 27" iMac, only because the display, and my laptop which drove it, were dying. There were no options I could reasonably afford if I wanted Apple product design, which I do appreciate. The next Pro Display XDR is rumored to be 7K resolution and 36”. 24, 30, and 36-inch sizes would be so clean, as would 4.5K, 5.5K, and 7K resolution.
Keep it simple Apple, don’t introduce a 27” size to the mix, which fits oddly between your next-gen 24” and 36” sizes.
They could even have models with and without the XDR suffix (mini-LED option), for a $500-$1000 cost increase, until the mini-LED production capacity / cost makes it possible to make it a standard feature on all displays.
Sure, but those users already have dozens of other options as there are good 4K 27" monitors out there (I own two of them a Dell U2720Q and LG 27UK850). Apple would own the 27" 5K market as there is only one similar option out there currently and goes for $1299 and doesn't have near the fit and finish an Apple product would. It depends, right? If you’re a video editor or a photographer you want a high quality monitor with the highest resolution. But if you‘re Joe Mac user you‘ll most likely never appreciate the difference between a 4k and 5k 27 inch monitor while checking email or watching YouTube. If Apple is selling this monitor for $1000 then its mostly for the Apple enthusiasts and visual artists that can’t afford the $6,000 offering, not for casual users or users that do less visual work.
Why? You can get a 34 inch UW OLED for 1300 from Dell. Far superior screen.
So we are using unverified click bait YouTubers as actual news now?
Cool.I'm not single. I also don't believe in 'justifying' anything. There is a common budget we both contribute and the rest is for each of us. Neither of us is telling the other person what he/she can buy. I find it unhealthy.
Ofc I do, but we have joint economics so.
Probably because Apple fans like HiDPI. You can keep your 34" ultrawide monitor with 110dpi.Only 27 inch, don't understand why Apple's fans don't like large monitors.
