New US iPhones are always locked. So it was your failure to buy an US iPhone from beginning. Return the phone and look for European iPhones which are factory unlocked (at least the ones purchased in '11).

Why has no one told this guy that apple nor AT&T does anything about stolen phones in the united states.
Because he wouldn't listen, anyway. He's convinced he got cheated, and nobody is going to convince him otherwise.
this is why I won't sell my iPhones on Ebay anymore just not worth the hassle. meet somebody local in public get cash say goodbye.though the seller did get some good money.
There is no piracy involved here so you don't need to go searching for the software at sites like that.
Just as a side note, the dev team distributes their software via torrents on piratebay, which is what the OP linked to. distributing data via torrents has nothing to do with piracy.
Hi theresome consider torrents a piracy but in russia 99% of internet users use them ... i know its prohibited in some countries .. not here yet
Hi there
This might be a silly question, but you said earlier that iTunes shows the message "there is a problem with your Internet phone"
And later you said "you can activate in the subway with no network". This is not true at all. You do need an internet connection to activate your phone.
Are you sure itunes is not telling you "there is a problem with your internet connection"??
i meant you dont need any carrier network not internet ... sure you can't do anything without internet ... but in order to activate you need:
1. internet
2. itunes
2. correct sim card
NO CARRIER NETWORK COVERAGE (metro was an example where there is no carrier coverage - at least in Russia its like this)
The warning states YOU HAVE A PROBLEM WITH YOUR INTERNET PHONE. Told by knowlegebale people that exactly this type of error appears ONLY when someone tried to activate the phone before. Tried different combinations of SSN and ZIPs, failed to enter the correct one for several times and itunes blocked the activation permanently.
Someone here also offered to go to DFU mode, do restore and use my activation sim - this wouldn't work because Apple server already contains a record that someone was tried to guess codes for this product....

I knew you tried to save money, but again, WHY didn't you go for the west european market? Its more expensive but factory unlocked and WAY cheaper than russian prices. I think european unlocked iPhones go for 500 the 16GB (to save money, do not go for the 32GB).
But you've already bought it, that is the problem. Get our money back, get rid of the phone and buy a more expensive but WORKING iPhone.
No hacktivation no trouble. Whats your time worth? Mine is to precious to think about saving 100 and wasting a day of work.
Think about it.

That's what I thought. If you google that exact phrase (with quotes), there are no hits at all which means that no-one in the world has ever used that phrase ever on the internet. Somewhat surprising, if it was an iphone or itunes error message, message boards would be full of people asking about it.
To use a good Scottish phrase, I smell ***** ...

It's pretty easy to avoid selling your iPhones to a Russian.
i was excited to get one ... paid same day ... decent person ... have a decent job and university degree ... money don't fall to me from the skies ... scam is not my way
if the phone was indeed unused i would simply activate it with activation sim card and be all happy ... i didnt know he sent me phone, which was turned to brick before

I don't think you are understanding... The phone was not and is not bricked.
I can only speak for myself, but selling something on ebay to someone in Russia always tends to be a giant pain in the arse. From the language barrier, to country restrictions, etc, it just tends to be a gigantic hassle for both parties.
