hey girl you make it back safely?

Yes! Finally I am back in the USA! Just trying to recover from the Jetlag:cool: I've been waking up, bright eyed and bushy tailed at 4:00AM, start dragging my butt by lunchtime; playing catchup slowly around here now. I see you've ordered yourself another case or two, hmmmmm?:p

UPDATE: See new post: https://forums.macrumors.com/posts/13203167/
Replacement is in hand and pretty awesome!

Figured I'd add my review as well.

I ordered the Chinao wheat case and got it on Friday the 5th. I left for vacation with it right after that. Sadly, I'm far from happy with it. The case looks & feels great. It would be perfect if it was made correctly but it's not. I've emailed to find out if my issues are normal (based on reviews, they are not) and am waiting to hear back. Unfortunately, I learned that I only had 7 days to return it and I just got back from my vacation early yesterday morning so that was pretty much impossible. I'm hoping the vendor will work with me but I'll update whether I'm screwed or not.

Basically, my problems are due to fit. The cover lies crooked when closed so that the bottom is further right than the top (bottom covers more of the black trim than the top). It wouldn't be as big of an issue except it causes the magnet to be in the wrong location and sometimes it doesn't work. Beyond that, it just looks bad.

The case is also way too loose. One of the reasons that I got it was because people complained about it being too TIGHT. I actually wanted that because I have no desire to remove the ipad. I'm in the construction industry and I want something that's going to hold it well & protect it. Unfortunately, it's loose enough that when I put it in the landscape position, the ipad instantly drops 1/4" (enough to block ports). The longer it's in landscape, the more it drops. I actually have to lift the black border so that I can put the ipad back in all the way because it drops enough to see between the ipad & the border. You have to set everything up before you put it in landscape or else pick the ipad back up because you cannot plug in headphones or the charger otherwise. You actually have to reach into the hole in the back to change the volume. Photos below show how much it drops as soon as it's put in landscape. It actually drops more than that.

Right now, I'm waiting to hear back. I'll update after that. I'm hoping that mine is defective and all the happy users aren't crazy. Beyond that, I'm hoping that the return policy is waived since I was on the other side of the country and couldn't do anything. I will definitely not be purchasing another one. I'd love to get a replacement that fits better as I think it could be the perfect case for me. If that doesn't happen, I'll probably just go back to my Switcheasy Canvas or smartcover/rear shell.

If anyone has any suggestions, I'd be happy to hear them also. I'd also like to say that I'm not calling the company out. Their return policy is their return policy. If I wanted to screw them, I would file a complaint with paypal but I'm being fair and I hope that they will as well. I just wish I had noticed it before I left town or perhaps didn't decide to try the case out assuming the issues would get better instead of worse after I first used it and contacted them immediately. I'm also not calling out the product itself yet. I'm pretty sure mine is defective based on the previous reviews. If the company tells me it's normal then I definitely will be.

*UPDATE*Well, that was quick. I just heard back from him and he agrees that it is a build issue and he's sending out a new one for me today. I'll either post a new review or replace this one when it gets here.

Wow! I am so surprised to see your issues with this case! I honestly think you just received an unusual dud! I have yet to see an issue with this case being too loose; most people find it to be almost too snug. I would definitely wait for the seller's response. If he is the same person as the one I ordered mine from, I am quite sure he will be very understanding about the time lapse due to your vacation. His Customer Service is usually outstanding.
Please keep us updated, and I hope you have a good outcome. My case is just fabulous. I used it on an extensive trip in Europe this past month; it was subjected to numerous bumps and falls:eek: and performed just perfectly, protecting my iPad, and keeping it in position. I used it often in the standing position to view movies, and the iPad never slid down or budged. The holes/ports are lined up perfectly.

I'm pretty sure it's a dud as well so that's what I'm hoping to hear either way. I did buy mine from the seller that must not be named like everyone else so it's good to hear about his customer service. Hopefully he'll be understanding but, like I said before, I am outside of his return policy and won't bitch about it if not.

A quick update, I just heard back from him and he's sending a new one out today. He also thinks that it's a build issue so I'm excited to find out how the new one is. I'll be posting an updated review once I get it and try it out. Until then, I have to say that his Customer Service is pretty outstanding. I'm outside of the return period and he's extremely fast to respond (I emailed him about 4-5 hours ago).

Great! That is exactly how I thought he would respond. I'll be looking forward to seeing how your replacement case turns out!:D

I want opinions of you folks on these cases that just have holes for the speakers instead of a full cut out to allow the sounds to flow out freely.

I prefer a cut out as I fear the holes for speakers might restrict sound output. Am I being paranoid or do the Chinao ones do a good job at allowing sound to flow out well?

This thread has lots of pages developed! This really a good case that is worth buying?

The way I see it is them holes not matching and quality aren't cosistance

The sound flows out just fine - very little restriction in all honesty.

and what do you base this on, what percentage of these are defects??? ALL products have a certain percentage of defects. So when i see people on this forum base their opinions on non facts it just gets to me. How did you research this, I read his feedback and see no evidence to support your theory What i see is that he has a lot of happy customers and nothing but good things have been said even the few that had an issue were happy with the end results.

um, this isn't a chatroom. and unless you're a Chinao employee, why get your panties in a bunch? it's just a case.

And your post is more relevant? and unless you're a MR admin, why get your panties in a bunch? it's just a forum.

Don't worry man, it's cool cause I actually was talking to you.

Next time you want to thread jack and complain about someone chatting in a thread, do everyone a favor and send a pm instead of doing the exact same thing and disrupting the conversation flow even more. Then you get people like me that can't stand hypocrites and have to respond and we end up WAY off course. Cause, you know.... Somebody was wrong on the Internet.

tabitha has been a knowledgeable resource about a lot of iPad cases.
mcdj is bringing down the thread, go back to McDs..

wow I'm sorry i asked, i was just pointing out that every product does have a few misfits that slip through the crack. Its the way the seller or the business handles it so you just can't judge a case by its cover lmao if we based it on a dud here and there no one would buy any cases on ANY forum. I just thinks it sucks that this seller has such a great reputation with his customers and a very bad rap with the powers that be on the forum. BTW his 10% storewide coupon code is back on. <10percentoff> and free yoobao screen protector on purchases of $30 or more <freeyobaosp> for those who like saving a buck thats good on ALL store items. And for you moderators I am just putting coupons out there chinao-usa.com yoobao cases as well

I totally second that!
Mcdj - it just so happens that some of us here, including myself, have gotten to know each other pretty well through this forum, and hence rely on each others' recommendations, opinion and solutions. If this place is not technical/clinical/detached enough for you, that is your issue; we are quite comfortable here. And in case you think I am also too "chatty", feel free to search out my more "technical" contributions in other threads.:)

wow were back lol, banned for a hot second but i can't let people know some good deals lmao wow gotta love this place.

I got my replacement Chinao Wheat case today and wanted to go ahead and post up real quick. After I emailed about the issues I had, he emailed me back within a couple of hours, apologized for the problems, and told me he'd send a new one out to me. I got a tracking number about 30 minutes later and it showed up today.

This case is pretty much perfect for me. The cover is square so I don't have the weird overlap and the magnet seems to work every time. It's also a lot tighter than the first one that I got. There's minimal movement when I put it in landscape stand. All ports are accessible on it. Basically, THIS is the case that I wanted when I bought it. They did a really great job on the case. The only real negative that I can think of is that the leather isn't perfect but I wouldn't expect better for anything under $100. For my purposes it's perfect though. It looks good enough to impress customers but I don't have to worry about small marks and stuff that will happen on a job site. The leather is thick enough that it will also offer good protection as well and it shouldn't degrade easily like the fake leather that most ipad cases are made of now.

Anyway, pics of the new one to show the differences:

Cover is now square and covers the entire interior:

Overall, I'm really happy with the case and I think I made the right decision. If you're looking at this case and not sure, you really can't go wrong. The case is great and if you happen to get a bad copy like I did, the vendor will take care of you and make everything right. I wish more vendors had customer service like his.

he really is a great person to deal with, its like the difference between shopping at Walmart and your neighborhood store. Only he is cheaper than Walmart.
10% storewide coupon code is still <10percentoff>
Free Yoobao Screen protector with purchase of $30 or more coupon code is <freeyoobaosp>
