It may or it may not be. I think it is impressive that a $27 device essentially looks like an iWatch, and offers at least some of the most useful features offered by an iWatch.

I agree that the more you pay on a tablet the better the performance. Why? Because, the difference in tablet performance scales with price because component decisions (and software decisions) make a much bigger difference on something that can, potentially, do a lot more.

Because you think this $27 piece of garbage is comparable to Watch. It's like saying don't buy an iPad or a a Nexus 9 because you can get tablets at Walmart for $50.

I just logged in to say that your comment just shows how ignorant you are of how a final product such as the Apple Watch gets its final price. The price you pay includes years of research, development, which again intrinsically include design, prototyping, machines, countless man hours, the very same again for the accompanying software. Potatohead thieves can blatantly rip these off and sell inferior plastic junk (eg. Samsung) for 1/20th the price, because they didn't have to do any of these.

If you don't understand product development and business management, I'd suggest you refrain yourself from making ridiculous comments about it.

Everything you said is correct, but then you had to put the "eg Samsung" comment in there to remove any credibility your comment may have had. If you really think Samsung just copies Apple (or others) you are the worst kind of Apple fan. An ignorant one. Samsung pours tons of money in to all the things you listed above, just like Apple, and they do it for a much larger variety of products. You don't have to like Samsung, but give credit where credit is due.

Looks like a good replica, keep up the good work! I give you my thumbs up!

How about giving credit to the universities, funded by the Federal Government, whose research created most of the technology being used by Apple

I actually think this is funny because it has the main functionality that a lot of people want and it is so dirt cheap that you don't even care if you lose or break it. So this could actually sell quite well. It is of course nothng like the iWatch.

The only concern is that products like this cheapen the image of the iWatch and this can and will harm Apples sales and therefore down the road jobs.

If something like this with a different design at that price gets released I might be interested. With a different design it would not hurt Apple and technologically it is just a simple bluetooth linked gadget like a car stereo or any of the bluetooth speakers out there.

Why is it an embarrassment? Because a company has managed to produce the product for $25 that Apple will be charging 20 x that for?

Because it makes CES come across as a flea market for cloners that blatantly rip off the IP of others. What's next, fake luxury purses?

it doesn't take an apple fanboy to hate on samsung and call their mobile/tablet divisions out for what they are. great hardware/component manufacturers? sure. but they're notorious in the industry for being thieves and unethical pain-in-the-arses. for you to imply any criticism of them immediately pegs people as 'the worst kind of apple fans' is ridiculous.

Shouldn't this be in the sidebar?

How does this make the front page? It's just a knockoff smartwatch. Pretty much any in demand product you can think of gets knocked off. Cars, watches, purses, guns, money, shoes, etc. The overarching discussion of counterfeit items has importance, but a $350 watch is small potatoes... imo, of course.

I can't be impressed by a clone from a no-name company most people have never heard of. I saw a tweet from someone who apparently bought this thing and it can't even tell time right. Below is a post on Engadget from someone who recently got to see the Watch in real life:

http://www.engadget.com/2015/01/08/the-big-picture-this-is-not-the-apple-watch/#comments
I wasn't impressed by the apple watch from all the photos, but I actually met an Apple employee recently who was wearing a test version, and it's much smaller and inconspicuous in person than I thought it'd be from the super zoomed-in photos. I didn't even notice it at first on this person's wrist, even though i knew they worked at apple and happened to be wearing a watch, until someone else pointed it out. It's waaaaay thinner than I thought. About half the thickness of the watch i was wearing. And from the brief demo i got, it was pretty cool. Not sure i'd get one, but i'm definitely considering it more now that I've actually seen a real one in person.

Awfully brazen, especially to brag about it CES, but at least these guys have figured out a more realistic price point for these smart watch things.

This thing probably has hardwired in code to send your personal info, passwords, etc to Chinese data scammers.

No thanks...

Just because the nano predates the Pebble doesn't mean it got people into smartwatches (which I don't feel you can really call the nano).

It had something like 12 watch faces, a pedometer, an accelerometer and played music. There were about a 100 different watch bands for it. Rumors of an "iWatch" surfaced within days of its announcement...

Hell I even wore it as a watch, own a pebble as well. the Apple Watch only has a handful of features over the Nano 6, it's more of an evolution of the device than a new one. How you don't think its the birth of the Smartwatch baffles me.

The fact that anyone thinks smartwatches are new baffles me.

wow $27

I know where my next holiday will be :D

This may be a fake Apple Watch, but i don't get something...

If Tim went to China in talks of how it can sell the Apple Watch, and China is where the bigger market is for Apple, then why do they turn round afterwards , thumb their noses in Tim's Face, and bring out fakes anyway...

Cut of ya nose to spite ya face..... sorta thing...

Obviously, no one can wait..

I'm not wearing that on my wrist.

That's a fancy calculator watch. I didn't have THAT particular one (I had a Casio) but I mentioned calculator watches in an earlier post... not quite the same thing as a smart watch... . :p

I wore something similar in the late 80's/early 90's
