No indication of either of those. And IR is pointless.

No, no it's not if you live outside of the US, in a country like Japan where every single phone manufacturer includes a 50 cent IR/RFID sensor. The iPhone fails here, and that's part of the reason. Having to type in contact information in this day and age is pathetic, everyone here just transmits it to one another via IR--except those with iPhones.

lol the screen isnt bigger the black bezel is people.

I love how when rumors of smaller mbp's and iMacs come out people freak and say they'd like for it to be a little thicker with more power and function.

Then when apple makes the iphone bigger to possibly add a longer lasting battery, verizon radio, front facing camera or whatever people flip!

100% Fake

This is so obviously a fake.

1) The new iPhone is almost certainly going to follow the usual June launch cycle so do people really think that they're shipping spares to repair companies now? Apple is probably still working on production and I doubt that they have FCC approval yet so no spares can be considered production-ready yet.

2) People have died (commited suicide) for breaching unreleased iPhone security. Would a repair company, that presumeably values its participation in the iPhone ecosystem, really leak so blatantly as to have its business card in the photo.

This is viral marketing, either for the repair company or just possibly, if you want to get conspiratorial, with Apple's approval to start the rumour mill spinning itself up to a frenzy in time for the launch.

I saw Jonny Ive doing a q&a after a screening of the film objectified. To quote him, 'Good design is about less design'. The iPhone is already near perfect, there is no point of changing/adding something for the sake.

Realistically the only things that could potentially change would be the back casing (maybe thinner) and the bezel, so I wouldn't wish for anything more. Any drastic changes are going to be internal.

Think about the square iPod mini, silly idea and only lasted a generation.

That's my view anyway.

Two words: Carbon Fiber

okay, for the people who want the next iphone to be made of aluminum or some metal...im sorry, its not going to happen.

aluminum interferes with the 3g signal...which is why the iPad 3g version has a plastic strip across the back...
which would look ugly on a phone...

there is a reason why the 1st gen iphone was half metal and half plastic...and why the 3g model was all plastic.

sorry but if you want an aluminum iphone, you will have to buy the original .

But... I have been brainwashed to believe that any non-unibody case is a crap. What should I do? ;)

Are you talking about curved back of the iPad which makes it look thiner that it is but makes it very difficult to type when placed on a table?

The thinner edges are so that you can actually pick it up when it's lying flat on a table. I would imagine that typing on the iPad when it's lying flat on a table would be uncomfortable. Also it seems to me that there is enough surface area that is full thickness that corresponds to the thicker bezel, such that it really wouldn't wobble.

Yeah..I call BS, might be a part for one of the many Chineese knockoffs. Unless the display technolgy is changing (higher REZ), I don't know why they would need to make it taller. But that "reflective" slot is too small for a camera and not even the right shape.

I like this comment, perfect explanation. I would think Apple would push the screen closer to the edge before they make if bigger. They already increased thickness, but they compensated with thinner edges.

EDIT: Looking at the pics and we assume this is real, the "reflective" part may actually be clear (similar to iSight on iMac, etc). Once the camera is in it looks blackish. Also, I am so sick of the current phone and UI layout I really hope Apple redesigns the Case and UI for 4.0. I think they will as everything else sees some kind of refresh every year or two (except ACD's and Mac Pros). I haven't gone through Apple's product history, but I just got the new iMac because I liked internals as well as the sleeker exterior. If it has the same case, I will probably keep what I have as I already jumped from 3G to 3GS and it does everything I need.

I disagree... Apple's not one to have thin borders, especially lately. Just look at the iPad, and the MacBooks for that matter.

But I call fake as well, regardless.

I like that idea. Although Apple seems to only care about colors in their iPod line. I can't get a 4th Gen. iPhone because my contract with T-Mo won't end until next March, but whatever Apple throws out for the 5th Gen, I will DEFINITELY buy.

What if the iPad is an example of the future, visually similar to an iMac and a MacBookPro? Indications of the future, years in advance.

Why the thick edge? Games holding rim. Do I like it? Nope. Is it the future? Nope. But it is the present.

iPhone 4G with thick edges top and bottom, an uber gamer iTouch clone as I see it.

Hey Steve, the compromises are getting visible. Warning, warning, danger, danger, Will Robinson.

Very interesting

Its very interesting to see the 4th Gen iPhone will be little taller than the current version. But, why would it be taller? Is iPad not tall enough?

why

Forward facing video camera? Please? Please Apple! Please!!!!!!! Just on WiFi, At&T. I promise. PLEASE!!!!!!!!

Come on, nobody really wants to see your ugly mug when you call. :D Though I do second the motion, just because they've has this stuff in Japan for like 12 years. If we can't keep up then we'll be toast when godzilla finally arrives.

Haven't read through all the replies, but didn't similar images surface around the same time last year and turned out to be a logitech device?

Why are we even talking about this fake? It makes no sense that this company would have any access to the next iphone. And if they did, why would they admit it, considering apple would never deal with them again. Analyzing the details of this fake demeans us all.
