It makes me wonder if Apple will try to win the listing, lol. That would be hilarious if the winning bidder request the device to be sent to Cupertino.
They wouldn't have to. They could just demand that eBay shut down the auction and cancel all bids. Grounds, there are two possibilities
1. Facilitating the sale of stolen goods. They could even use that to demand the sellers personal details.
Why do I say stolen goods? It has to be, if it is legit. Because the prototypes live and breath at Cupertino but the stores etc are feed stock out of Foxconn in China. So there is zero way that anyone could have gotten sent a prototype by their carrier so it would have to have been stolen from Cupe
2. Fraud. it's a fake. Apple tells eBay this and gets the whole thing shut down before someone is scammed.
lack of FCC marks could be because we are looking at a fake back. note there is nothing in the photo that confirms there is any hardware, especially working hardware on the other side.
The screenshot can't be confirmed to be running on the same phone and could be a cleverly done photo.
the lighting port isn't red, it's white, with a red sticker around it (easy to fake)The user has been on eBay for like a year, did auction about 2 months ago and now suddenly has this. hmmm. curious at the least.
But more curious is the 110% guarantee it is legit. And yet there is the hinky provenance and the lack of details that would show that she has any real knowledge. Like mentioning what the heck those apps do. I mean if she knows its a prototype she should know that.
My guess is that it is NOT a prototype but either a clever scam or simply a regular photo that someone accidentally picked up and put in the box before iOS was loaded the markings etched on the back. Given the number they are running through every day this could happen once in a few million.
