I'm surprised that Apple lets this much of the advance design out for case makers. Sometimes you see early cases for new iphone models guessing but then again who knows how they got the templates.

This is why i think iPad 2.0 is sooner than we think. January announcement, Feb ship.

If there is an SD card on ipad 2 I would be so happy!!!! Would by hands down my favorite new feature of ipad 2.

There are a lot of photos of these cases, that means it is quite likely true right?

so like 85% probability that this is true? what do you think

I think it's odd that they all surfaced on the same day.... Why all at once?

My guess is they are genuine. Too many similarities.

cheap plastic?....terrible! i'm waiting for the 7" carbon fibre version with retina display, 8 mp rear camera, and 4 mp front camera for $299

Cameras

I may be wrong but I would not use a camera on my iPad much, especially front facing, I rarely skype to begin with, only with my brothers family on the east coast about once a month, of course that's me. Plus I have yet to even use FaceTime, maybe it's my generation mid 30's, though the business world may like it, and of course the big time FaceTime fans.
Just would feel odd using the iPad as a camera, I'm sure I would use it a bit. When I first got my iPad I tried to feel how I it would feel as a camera and again just odd. USB or SD would get some use, of course with an iPhone for I'm use to synching.
As long as they they make the iPads better all around then great, I love mine, and don't want anything to make them go downhill. Though it will be a long time till I upgrade, time for other apple products I need more.

so many more jailbreak opportunities too with an sd card, an sd card would probably just be used for music and movies right... no apps, or could you run apps from an sd card? either way it makes upgrading storage so much easier,

Looks like the frame of an iPod Touch 4gen, it should be really thin. Rear facing camera? Don't think so, unless its a 5mpixel like the iphone4.

If the iPad has a rear facing camera, I hope Apple updates the Camera app because taking photos on the iPads screen with that tiny button is hardly desirable.

The Home button cutout seems way low, which means the gap between the glass and the edge of the iPad is smaller, so the design may very well be iPod Touch 4Gish

No way there is an SD card slot- makes zero sense.

I'm of the same opinion on the front facing camera and facetime. I'm sure it will start to become the norm over the next several years starting with the younger folks - guess I'm just over the hill for that. The rear video camera is what would make facetime a truly useful --- being able to show someone what I'm looking at while talking to them about it could be a huge plus in many situations.
I know the iPad would never be my go-to device for photography, but I'm glad the backside camera will give me the ability to take a picture with it. Pictures can be a tremendously quick and efficient way of gathering information. A simple snapshot that you could take in a fraction of a second can convey all sorts of layers of meaning and information that you could literally spend hours worth of typing trying to describe.
Glad to see it looks like backside is coming up!

Seriously?! A SD Card Slot?! Apple established Micro SIMs and puts a "BIG" SD Card into the iPad?! Why not Micro SD???
I know this is all just a rumor, but a very stupid one.

SD makes a lot more sense, so I could just drop the SD card out of my camera and into the iPad for review. I haven't seen cameras using Micro SD. SD is plenty small for something as large as an iPad.

This is actually a feature I really like, so I really doubt it would happen. I don't give a crap about rear camera, so that will probably be coming. :D

So Apple is going down the same path as the iPhone?

1st gen aluminum back

2nd gen- plastic back

3rd gen- plastic

4th gen- glass

:p

Seriously, why are they going to plastic?

I hope this is a Chinese-knock off or fake.

I think these are supposedly aftermarket shells.

Let's be sensible :)

If you are going to fit only one memory card slot into your device, then it makes sense to fit the one that's the most popular in most devices, camera's which would be an SD Card slot.

Yes, they could fit a Compact Flash, they were popular in the early days and still in use in some DSLR's

They could fit an XD Card slot for Fuji's or a hold for Sony memory sticks.

But those, whilst pleasing some would not be the logical one to pick if you only had to pick one.

But then why Micro SIM if the iPad has that much unused space?!
And I'm using only Micro SDs with an adapter. Almost every SD Card is sold that way.
For me that would be very disappointing. Just wasted space for the battery.

Fingers crossed, but April 1 makes more sense: (1) Apple usually launches its consumer products near the beginning of a quarter (to get good quarter-over-quarter sales metrics, I suspect, but I've never seen anyone say that); (2) April 1 would be closer to the one-year refresh cycle that Apple has been following the last few years with iPods and iPhones; and (3) the sooner iPad 2 launches after Christmas, the higher the irritation factor will be and the likelier people would sit out next Christmas assuming the refresh will launch a few weeks later.

But I'm ready to buy one the day they go on sale.

I don't get why you want a rear-facing camera in an iPad. still think you will be looking up people nose's with a front one and facetime.

Agree. A rear camera seems odd given the size from the unconfirmed case images. Don't see a Flash.

Then again, Apple may see people using this in the same manner as an iPhone.
Sitting with the Pad, Face Timing with Mom, then a quick switch to the rear camera a junior crawls by on the floor?

I could see myself using it in this way. Not for stills however. :apple:
