I'm sorry but white plasticky iPad 2 is an atrocious decision by Apple. Ain't buying one.

It's a case for the iPad. I does not say anything about the iPad's material itself. Is that so hard to understand? You have posted this now five times, gee......

The cut out looks rather large to be for an SD card slot, but it is a great idea to add one, maybe there is more to it then just an sd card slot.

I'm sure there are some owners of ipads that do not own a full computer, maybe they want those consumers to be able to have a direct internet connection to their iPad via cat5 cable and this is the position of the connection?

Seriously! Get mad all you want, tard. Like most other people commenting on this, I SKIMMED it, thought about it for a half sec, posted, noticed it was a CASE, and didn't even care enough of it to edit the post...

why let your emotions be dictated by such meaninglessness?

So, you care enough to go online, read 4 words, type a post in a forum. But you don't care enough to not look stupid.

I think we're on the verge of extinction.

So Apple is going down the same path as the iPhone?

1st gen aluminum back

2nd gen- plastic back

3rd gen- plastic

4th gen- glass

:p

Seriously, why are they going to plastic?

I hope this is a Chinese-knock off or fake.

This is a case not the actual IPAD 2

From what I can tell from these supposed iPad 2 cases, it doesn't look like the back of the iPad is nearly as beveled as the current design. It looks to be flatter, and therefore probably thinner (which thinner has always been a rumor for the next iPad). My guess is that the cutout size and placement is just to accommodate slightly relocated speaker openings. Maybe they had to rotate the speaker unit backwards 90 degrees due to the reduction in thickness of the iPad, and the speaker openings are located more on the back side than on the edge. Just my $.02

Bottom opening looks just like the original mba port hatch-

I was thinking about all the possibilities for the suggested sd card slot as seen in the case for the iPad 2.0. I have a feeling we're going to be seeing a USB port as well. If not USB... dare I say LightPeak?

Don't dare say it. Not happening in 2011.

This. That's exactly what I thought. Concealing the micro-USB port they may be obliged to include by international law... and maybe something else?
The iPad isn't a cell phone.

What if Apple truly dropped a game changer with a pico projector built-in? Could fit and could explain the rear facing cutout? 'Tis the season to wish big...

Display port would be cool- allow you to use a monitor and then the ipad as the input device/magic trackpad- or use ipad as a media player and control it with iphone, much like an aTV. Possibilities abound!

Sorry but there's no way Apple would ever put a Cat 5 connection on an iPad. I'm almost 99% against the SD Card slot as well. My thought would be that eventually, they'll make all their portable devices with a LightPeak port where there could be many different attachments available. Though LightPeak would be a huge leap for iPad 2.0 so I'd doubt we'd see this anytime soon. I can dream though!

Maybe it is a stretch to think a cat5 would be added; the sd card is plausible though because that is what the Playbook has, and we cant let BB have all the goodies.

A bit of dreaming is what created the iPad in the first place so dream on its good for inovation.

edit: I was wrong about the playbook it doesnt seem to have an sd card but the Galaxy does.

That would be friggin rad and certainly lines up with apples efforts to expand into business market- though still doubtful

I have a feeling we will see LightPeak sooner than some may think- Apple cant stick with usb 2.0 for much longer, and they have no intention of adopting 3.0, so gotta do something

It's the iPad "pro".

Now if it was a iPad Pro... why go with a cheap plastic body?

JUST KIDDING!

Really... someone else tossed a iPad Pro out there too... thought about it and could be an interesting line-up. Lower the prices on the current model, then offer a "Pro" version at a higher price point. Right up Apple's way of doing laptops so why not and then they'd really have the competition going nuts. Low cost entry level and higher end "Pro" level.

Now, personally, I hope not. I want the next iPad at the same price point or lower... not higher. Especially with the cheap plastic shell... ahhh... case! LOL!

Couldn't it just be an opening for the speakers?

Too big... has to be something else that requires lots of space. Ports, Antenna, or ????

I'm surprised that Apple lets this much of the advance design out for case makers. Sometimes you see early cases for new iphone models guessing but then again who knows how they got the templates.

Awww what? I'm one of these people, and I am just excited to have the first gen iPad come to me on christmas morning! Not everyone need the latest and greatest you know....

Well, the current iPad1 is the latest and greatest. So, it looks like you kinda do.
