Hey guys, here's a concept we have in mind for this device:

More info at our blog. Cheers!

Interesting, but what about the 3-finger (and a thumb) cartoon characters like myself, we miss out on 1/5 of the functions? :D

What about people who have to write or type something?

Pause, Play, Next, Home, Play, Home, Pause :D

Just a screen siZe change + touch cap.

I don't know if someone has though of this:
It could just be a slightly bigger screen replacement than the actual nano one + be touch capable and it would still be in the same casing as the actual nano, just a little bigger screen....If it's not then I want my iwatch :)

watches

Nerds? You're on Macrumors.com reading a thread about an upcoming iPod. Wouldn't that make you a nerd/geek? :p

There's nothing wrong with watches, some people wear them because they don't feel like reaching for their phones. I don't want to pull out my iPhone 4 just to check the time. It's easier to look down at my left wrist... :D

I wear a watch, i.e. slave to time (the imagined dimension). But seriously, I don't feel a smart watch is a bad idea except for surmounting the screen size dilemma. Hope this isn't too off topic, but who knows what ideas float around Apple Inc.

So is this the new iPod Nano or Shuffle? Apple seems to change the Nano every generation so this could very well be the Nano but does this mean they will discontinue the Shuffle?

Oh and I'd love to have this iPod Nano with 3G. Gotta love surfing the web on a 1" screen :) Give it a 800x600 screen and we are golden.

Oh come on. It's so obvious and no one has said it yet: This is the new apple TV!. It uses and HDMI connector for video and audio out. The touch screen acts as a built in remote and configuration terminal (720p vs 1080i, Stereo vs Surround). Optical audio out using the headphone jack. Volume buttons built in. Wifi and local storage for streaming video. Accelerometer to allow the new "shake for party" mode with trippy visualizations and a kickin' dance beat.
...
What?

It's not the new nano

To me, this is obviously the shuffle. Why would apple drop the 2.2" screen for this one? There would be no room for a video camera, and it would be a terrible screen for viewing videos or pictures.

YO GUYS! Look at the case it only cover the rim portion of the new device. They're going to use a similar industrial design as the iPhone 4 :D

Yeah, a unibody design!

They're gonna take a 2 pound block of aluminum and carve away till they get to that tiny body to house that tiny micro-nano. HA! :D

I can just about hear Jon Ive on stage describing the perfection of all the curves on the new tiny whatever it is using his unique bullcrap artistic perfection dialogue.

whos says it needs a home button? Better yet whos says there is not a home button?

Open your mind a little. You could double tap the screen to go home. There might be a button on the side

And what happens if the device freezes? With no physical buttons you're kind of screwed.

The new iPhone nano?

Maybe its neither the new Nano nor Shuffle, but the fabled iPhone nano instead.

If this is the new Nano, maybe they'll bring back the Mini branding to fill the hole left by the current Nano.

E.g., from biggest to smallest:

iPad

iPad Mini (the rumored new smaller iPad, smaller than the iPad, bigger than the Touch, great for carrying in a purse.)

iPod Touch / iPhone (and maybe later a hybrid of the Touch and the iPod Classic, combining a big ol' Classic hard drive with an iOS touch interface)

iPod Touch Mini (close in size to the current Nano and the classic iPod Mini; small widescreen iOS device); eventually maybe we'll see an iPhone Mini of similar size.

iPod Nano (the new watch-sized iPod being rumored)

New iPod Shuffle (to be released later; ridiculously small, no screen, priced realitivly cheap, so you don't feel too bad when you lose it with your pocket change)

Solar power?

Doesn't Apple have a patent on file dealing with having a solar cell underneath a lcd panel for charging? I wonder if they are going to debut that tech in this product?

WiFi on the SquarePod. Probably Not but I had to use my crappy Photo Shop techniques on something.

I think the little square pod is a new device. Not a replacement for any iPod. It will likely be $99 or less.

Other predictions:

iPod Touch

$199
3rd Gen everything with the addition of the Facetime camera(and Mic), new case, and 16GB of storage.

$299
A4 CPU, Retina Display, Front Cam and Mic, Back Cam(not convinced of this), Gyro, Microphone, 32GB.

$399
All of the above plus 64GB and a free post card from Steve Jobs on Valentine's Day.

Nano Will replace Classic, if 128 GB will fit. I think it will. Anyone know?

Just my uneducated opinions.

Sorry about the typo. I'm human, not perfect.

Wow. People are still on the watch thing? I didn't even bother replying any more since the concept that people don't wear watches or that a watch has no desirable functionality is not even close to being something that someone not addicted to meth would think up.
