I think the train of thought that the click wheeled nano is gone is wrong. There could be 2 models the nano and the nano touch just like the ipod classic and ipod touch one is always going to have more space then the other. My fingures are crossed that they at least bump the base model from 8 to 16gb especially if it has video capabilities!

Yeah I was talking to Steve Jobs today about those 3cm touch screens... said he was announcing something not too magical but really revolutionary this wednesday. As he walked away this photo fell out of his pocket!

The watch idea isn't a bad one I just hope it has 2 batteries or solar or a REALLY good battery. I do not want to wear two watches and/or charge my wrist watch every ~3 days.

This thing could easily be a merged Nano/Shuffle, supplemented by an entry level Touch that does everything the current Nano can do.

If it's goodbye Classic, it's hello 128gb Touch, which would be great.

:confused:Im still very confused about this being a NANO. I mean why would they introduce the camera as early as last year, only to make that obsolete. I'm thinking this will definitely be the new shuffle, based on the hardware and software issues of the previous shuffle. Just my opinon though.

me too... but it's going to reveal the riddles real soon...

Why are we all just assuming this is going to be a Nano? I really feel like they wouldn't make the Nano so small... It could just be a shuffle...

Unless it has the voice control system like the current shuffle it will be the Nano. The shuffle's main selling point is that you can use it without looking while working out/being active.

The shuffle had sense by being as simple as possible and small as possible, this has nothing to do with a shuffle IMO.

I'm going to go out on s limb and say this now. Not a nano or a shuffle, this will be a completely different product, quite possibly replacing one or the other of the previous series but called something completely different.

Maybe they will call it the iPod mini?

Why are case manufacturers any type of reliable source... They feed of the rumors just as much... Do you think Apple tells case manufacturers the specs?

As far as this design goes... its ok...

TINY touchscreen... So no safari, no games, or apps like on your phone... It will have iPod only functions most likely. I could see the shuffle being removed, it was a dumb idea from the start no buttons, and I could see the nano getting changed in design and gaining a touchscreen but to make that tiny touchscreen work it could cause problems... It seems unlikely Apple would hold a event to keep the same design as far as the iPods go and just upgrade storage. I bet the touch and nano will be the only iPods after September 1st.

*Upgrade list and other notes.

**The Nano -

New design
better battery
touchscreen
smaller

**The touch -

$199.99 model

A4 processor
512Mb ram
16 maybe 32Gb capacity
No retina display.
Front facing camera.
Along with a slight design change.

299.99 Model
Same specs as above but
64GB capacity
Retina display

*There is no way Apple could put a A4, 512 Ram, front-facing camera, and retina display all for 199.99 thats why I say retina display only on 299 model.

**The Classic

-If they keep it...
-Design change to go along better with all the rest of the apple products, but still keep the classic look.
- 250GB?

I highly doubt the classic will be kept.

** Apple TV, no announcement will probably be done at another event dedicated to it.
***Notes on how many iDevices sold, how many songs downloaded, iPad success, iPhone 4 success, and iPod success.

These are my bets...

Apple were really pushing the fact that last year's nano doubled as a video camera and that it was great that you only had to carry around one device. I really doubt that they'd get rid of it after only one year. Unless this new design is actually a shuffle, but I doubt that.

That's what I am thinking. I can't imagine this being over $100, but you never know. A visual shuffle 2G that is a kinda mini-Nano is a good choice, if they bring down the iPT to $149 & up.

I'd buy one for sub $100, unless a low end shuffle is made which will cost sub $50.

I agree. I think they will bring this in at a sub $100 price and lower the Touch to $149 to make room for the 7" iPad thats been rumored. I also feel the Classic will be discontinued this year.

the shuffle and nano will become one. the classic will get a big camera, front camera, maybe and wifi. maybe a speaker too. and a mic if it comes with a camera obviously. this is what will happen

First one to make one of these (that actually looks good) gets a stack of my money.

Meh...

Smaller doesn't always equate to better. I have big hands and love the current iPod nano. If this is getting down to shuffle size, I'll be disappointed. Also, I think it is a mistake to get rid of the physical buttons. People use iPods for weight lifting, running and all sorts of physical activities. If I am listening to a song I don't like, I can move on to the next song without even looking. I can feel my way to it while it is on my arm. If I have to put more effort into changing a song, it is bad device for weight lifting. Otherwise, I would have bought a touch.

Why can't anyone see that this is going to be the shuffle!? It's the same form factor and lacks a camera....

Isn't it obvious?

Today it's:
$60 Shuffle
$150 Nano
$200 Touch

Next Week it's:
$100 Nano
$150 Touch

There you go, that covers it. You can tell me why you might not like that setup. I'm sure there are many people who'd prefer the old way. But from a business perspective it makes total sense to try and make the touch cheaper and cheaper and combine ALL the "lessor iPods" into one small, cheap unit.

I'm betting this is Apple's new position:
"You want small and cheap? Here buy this stupid little thing. Everyone else, buy an iPod Touch, please. You know, the real iPod."

Also, I think it is a mistake to get rid of the physical buttons. People use iPods for weight lifting, running and all sorts of physical activities. If I am listening to a song I don't like, I can move on to the next song without even looking.

Don't all those little iPods come with the earbud controls now? Those are far better than a clickwheel if you're working out and don't want to look at the iPod.

I'm guessing that "gym-goer" is the ONLY market for this new little iPod. And with those earbud buttons, it's still just as good for that as any other iPod.

No, they'll just introduce a new iPod touch at the nano's old pricepoint, and spin it so they can say "now for the same price you get all of these features!".

Jon Ives: "Steve, I shrunked the iPad."

It looks so cute! iPad pico!

I'm betting money that a watch-case will be an official accessory.

I think it's a step in the wrong direction. My wife has the current nano and I think it's great, just needs more storage space.

I have the old clip on shuffle with the real buttons and it's great for the gym, but with the size of it I'm always losing it. I wouldn't want it to be my general use ipod.

Then again I didn't think the ipad made a lot of sense at first, but after playing with it for 30 minutes in the store yesterday I want one!

Thank you! I just don't see that as a Nano either, definitely (hopefully) a Shuffle...

Most certainly the Nano will be still there. Why should they remove it from the line and insert an small, tiny thing...

Hopefully it is only a replacement for the shuffle.
