Not a Shuffle

Why are we all just assuming this is going to be a Nano? I really feel like they wouldn't make the Nano so small... It could just be a shuffle...

Maybe it's already been mentioned, but if it has a display, it won't be called a Shuffle. The Shuffle has no GUI. So, this would appear to be a new Shuffle-sized Nano.

OK, my bets for Wednesday

iTunes - Brand new, lots of features, including AirTunes for streaming over the cloud!

*Shuffle* no change, not discussed

*Classic* Minimal change.

*Nano* Old design is gone, replaced by this device. Wifi for AirTunes.

*Touch* New design, cameras. Supports AirTunes and Facetime (PS-The nano does too-but at a much lower resolution-perfect for spy-like communicating!)

*iPad* Update in time for the holidays! Will get iOS4, front facing camera for facetime (no camera on the back). A few other new features that are minimal

OK, that's all...wait, one more thing-

iTV! Smaller, no spinning drive but small Flash drive. Streaming your media and runs iOS4. Will be getting apps to run iAd supported content from TV stations.

If they drop the shuffle for any reason I'm going to buy one to keep even if I don't need it and already own an iPod Nano and an iPhone 4.

Im doing the same if they drop the Classic. Im heading over to Walmart and picking up a few of them since they would be the last of their kind and will be worth alot on eBay this holiday season.:D

My thought on the specs of the new ipod nano 6th gen.

3cm * 3cm touch screen-Displays mainly album art
32 Pin Connection
Shake to Shuffle
Accelerometer-Keeps album art facing right direction
Swipe Controls-Swipe left to go to previous track-Swipe right to go to next track
Clip
4GB-Model
Priced at 79

So now the questions are:

Apps?
WiFi?
Navigation?
Home Button?
Camera?
Etc...

Potential answers:

Some apps could work if specifically designed for this...
WiFi would not be needed since the device is too small for the internet, too small for a keyboard, etc...
Navigation with the iPod Shuffle style earphones with the 3 buttons on it, as well as swipe gestures.
No home button, maybe shake to go to the home screen or something... Or maybe no home screen at all!
Camera: Either there will be a small camera, or it wasn't very successful with the iPod Nano anyway so they're not putting one in.

There will be no wifi related apps, no home button, no camera, etc... if you wnt that in 2010 apple is saying get an ipod touch

There better be a wrist watch case and Apple better have a nice clock built in. These mockups are making me dream of wearing a wrist watch again...

Current iPod Nano is Perfect AS IS!!!!

Just up the capacity to 32GB.

If this is true it means that in their maniacal pursuit to miniturize everything the Apple iPod design team accidently miniturized their brains....

However, if this is the shuffle...ok.

I wonder if they will pull the camera out of the nano and move it to the Touch instead. (Yes, a camera in the touch is a given)

I would hate if the iPod nano becomes the size of the shuffle... i like the small pocket sized current gen ipod nano, smaller than a touch and larger than a shuffle so it's not too easy to loose.

i hope all this actually becomes the shuffle.

It seems clear that Apple is going to merge the Nano and the Shuffle. $99 price point?

I think this is the new ipod shuffle with a new touch screen, and the nano and ipod touch will be merged into one device, or ipod touch replaces the nano.

For those that keep saying apple wouldnt introduce the AppleTV at this event...See septemeber 2006

The iPhone sucks! The iPhone is just a larger iPod Nano!!!! :D

- iPad owner who thinks maybe people will understand now.

it looks like

a touch screen shuffle which doesn't make sense given how small the screen is. I don't see how anyone would/could surf Safari on that screen.

Screenwise, I'm going bigger not smaller (will eventually get an iPad). If I did get one of those it wouldn't be for watching/reading - just listening.

If iPods are all going click-wheelless, thank goodness for eBay and always being able to buy the older models. I can't workout if Im having to fiddle with a touchscreen all the time. Apple, I just want to listen to music on my iPod.

If anything gets wait, one thing at an IPOD event, it would be an IPOD not something unrelated to the word IPOD.

i don't think there would be an iPad nano. It will just be "ipad" and you choose the size. I mean do we call the 21" imac the "imac nano"? or the macbook nano? or even the 13" macbook pro the n"macbook pro nano"?
