That's the argument we're going with?

This pointless thread is ok because other pointless threads exist!

If that's the best argument to make then I really don't feel so bad about making fun of this one. Is this guy famous for hating Apple products? Did he say he'd never buy an iPhone? Is he a major stockholder in RIM?

Any of those would make this very interesting, but so far I haven't seen anyone mention anything like that. Instead, we get:

Uhm, good point, I guess, but I really don't see how that makes the thread relevant.

Don't be such a geek, this might be a board for mainly mac based topics but it has off topic areas for general discussion, or do you just have computers as an interest with maybe a sideline in train spotting or star trek?

A lot of us have being on here for over half a decade and have a life away from the keyboard (on the sofa for instance, or a bar stool, or a cinema chair...).

The picture of fat Kelly Clarkson is really funny. so I'll return the favour with the hideous picture of Chloe off holyoaks just to keep it way off topic the way you (obviously don't) like it... yuk :D

Just a thought; maybe Americans could accept that someone may be extremely notable in other places in the world without being so in the US! International homogenisation of culture doesn't have to start in California.

In Britain, Australia, and gearhead communities world-over, this man is the ever-popular host of what is regarded to be one of the best comedy-documentary (hard to really classify) shows currently on TV.

TG and Jeremy in particular is totally FTW. LOL @ their US roadtrip special.

As an american, clarkson is a big deal to me.

Anyway, if people knew how hard he is to please, they would see this as more significant.

Maybe we just don't care who has a iPhone or not. To own an iPhone really isn't special anymore - there's 20+ million out there. By those numbers alone, there are going to be a lot of very important people owning them, as well as a bunch of low-life losers too.

especially since it's not his first iPhone, he had a 2g docked in a car in some top gear video.
On the hard to please lines: he got a Ford GT twice, returned it the first time if I'm not mistaking..

Far from being another one of those "x celebrity has bought an iPhone" threads, this might actually get some naysayers buying an iPhone..

Oh really.... That's a pretty sad way to live your life. I feel sorry for anyone who does this.

Maybe you don't, but other's who are Clarkson fans might. Not everyone's a Star Trek fan but you don't see people complaning about the 6 page thread about it do you?

To be fair though, maybe this should be in the Community Discussion section

That's what this thread is about. As soon as I saw the title, I knew the significance.
If you don't know who he is, you simply won't get it. If that's the case, kindly forget about it, and move on to the next thread please. :D

By this logic, we should all be running out and buying Blackberrys because Obama has one. You know, he is a very intelligent person, so the Blackberry must be great. I best be selling my iPhone.

Really, why can't people just judge the iPhone for the great technological device it is? So what if Clarkson is a great guy (which I'm sure he is)? This thread just adds credence to the thought that all Apple customers are sheep.

OK, I'll play along. For those of you who were "on-the-fence", guess what:

It's not about 'playing along', or bigging-up the iPhone. It's merely about the fact, that Jeremy is the kind of highly opinionated guy who'd you least expect to have a 3G, because of his anal stance on things like that (take his 'cool wall' idea a few seasons back, where the most popular cars were considered 'uncool', because of their popularity and nonexclusive nature)and it's well-documented flaws as a phone.
It's almost as if he's contradicting himself by using a 3G, lol.

Clarkson is an absolute legend. Top Gear is the greatest show on earth.

Agreed! I just hate that BBC America edits about 15 minutes out of EVERY episode. So disappointing! Can't wait until I move to Manchester in September. I will firmly plant myself in front of the tv watching DAVE.

My favorite episode is the one across Africa. I love it when Hammond yells for Oliver when it is sinking in the river. Brilliant!

It's funny that some Brits think Yanks don't know about shows that air in Britain and even Australia.
I think it's even funnier that people give a damn if a celeb uses an iPhone or a wild dingo.
I think it's the funniest when people think someone might be inclined to buy an iPhone because said celeb has one.

BTW, for Aussies, the best episode ever of Home & Away was the one where Michael Palin did his walk-on while filming Full Circle.

For the Brits, Clarkson is awesome indeed. But I wouldn't let him and/or Palin influence my phone buying habits.

And in a Pythonesque conclusion, John Cleese's ex-wife and co-creator of Fawlty Towers was American. So Fawlty Towers was part-American!

love,

a Yank.

Just think how excited the couple are.

They had somebody using an iPhone AT THEIR WEDDING

such luck

Just a thought, maybe other folks around the world would realize that while accessible globally, this is a US-based forum. :)

Who the heck is Kelly Clarkson?

That's a fair point, but at the same time it shouldn't mean people berate someone just because it isn't a US based subject? While to many it's far from a great thread, there does seem to be some over reaction.
I mean, I know who Kelly Clarkson is :p
