This has happened to me on two series 0 watches way outside of their coverage and apple replaced them free of charge, including express mail.

The display of my Apple Watch Series 0 (original) detached. It seems the battery expanded pushing out the display.

See that’s the thing. All 3 of my Watches had no battery swelling and I was always given a Series 0 never a Series 1. Watches never had any damage either. Kind of ridiculous.

Right now Cook is going a great job for shareholders but a terrible job for customers.
Based on what? The numbers don't support your statement. People are buying products in record numbers and say they are satisfied in record numbers.

When you sell hundreds of millions of products, there will be problems with a relatively small number. Apple takes cares of their customers.

Nearly all customers are happy, just look at the satisfaction results. A small number of issues are going to occur when you have millions of customers let’s not blow this out of proportion here, yea we are on Macrumours and i know a lot of people like to bash Apple and claim they are doomed or they are no longer invested in things like the Mac and blah blah blah....but this really isn’t a major issue.

I am a customer and I am very disatisfied. Get out of your bubble.

Your one person, not being funny but most people are happy so maybe it’s you who’s in the bubble.

This happened to my wife. It was a result of a swelling battery. She was told the screen displacing was actually a safety feature and resulted in less damage to the watch under those conditions. They simply exchanged the watch on the spot even though it was no longer under AppleCare. The first symptom was unresponsive force touch.
Probably better to separate than explode when there is a problem with the battery. I guess the lawyers will decide.

I recently woke up to find my Apple Watch (the most expensive one) cracked shattered and unusable while it charged throughout the night. I called Apple and they said it was just over the warranty and could do nothing about it. Called the store an they blamed Apple. Called Apple back and they said I had to get another one. Didn’t even pay off the first one. Now making two payments! What happened to Apple standing behind its products! Livid here. How can I get information on joining in this lawsuit?

On my fourth Apple Watch. Went thru 3 stainless Series 0. Two were replaced for free, because of faulty power buttons. The third I sold, and bought a stainless Series 3. Anecdotal, I know, but I have never seen any trouble with the screen popping off. The power button, on the other hand, has been a bit of a curse! Maybe I should file a class action about that?

Wowwww so it isn’t just me! I got the original Watch in June 2015 and am on my fourth one. I’ve had the screen detach THREE TIMES. Crazy.

Apple said if it happens again they’ll replace it with a Series 3.

Luckily all of them were replaced for free. Only 1 was replaced under AppleCare. Other 2 outside of AppleCare.

Hasn't happened to my original Apple Watch which I've worn nearly every day since I bought it about a month after launch, nor has it happened even once to any person I know with any model Apple Watch.

From my perspective, either you have awful luck, or you're doing something to those watches. That said, hope you get a Series 3 out of it! :)

This has happened to me twice and both times Apple gave me a brand new Apple Watch at no cost to me.

Dunno what's worse, the product itself, which has been glued stuff with crappy battery since first gen, or people buying it and then complaining it breaks.

My Series 0 detached while I was playing on my Switch, it was only held on by a cable thing. Took it into the Apple store (almost exactly two years to the day after buying it) and they replaced it for free with a Series 1. Took a few days but it arrived at home. Incidentally I can see a sped difference between Series 0 and 1. Happy customer.

*edit. It didn’t have a swollen battery

I love my watch (Series 3), but Apple has a ways to go with it, the wheel is sticky, buttons don't always know when being pressed, and if the glass pops off all I'll say is Cupertino we have a problem (I don't get it wet, don't abuse it, etc.). I'd like to think that Apple will be a responsible vendor if this happens but knowing Apple it may take this lawsuit to nudge them to do the right thing.

It always seems I get mail or email about these. Is there a mechanism that prevents my contact info from being disclosed for these purposes?

I’m guessing a judge has not granted the lawsuit a class status or even accepted it. So it’s very early in the game and it may come to nothing. I don’t know what the threshold is for gaining class status and all but I suspect it will take more than a few anonymous complaints on forums to get action. They’ll need more proof I suspect.

The screen came unseated on my Series 3. I sent it to Apple for repair and they sent it back with a note that said they couldn’t find anything wrong with it. However they apparently fixed the problem because the screen didn’t move anymore when I pressed it during normal use. They didn’t acknowledge there was a problem at all. I sold it about a week after getting it back since it still had 9 months of Apple Care left. I just didn’t want to deal with the headache of having to send it off again if something happened. I’ll wait for a Series 4.

Is there anyone not suing Apple these days? Good grief. I had a series 0 and currently own a Series 2. Have had zero hardware issues with either.

What is eating my data plan is Instagram. Those stupid videos of Golden Retrievers and Samoyeds are addictive.

Lmao I swear I don’t do anything to them! They have zero damage too. Just scuffs and scratches. Every few months I’ll knock my wrist into a wall or table by accident, but that’s it.

I think I am just really unlucky with the Watches. I’d rather get a Series 4 this Fall though haha.

That doesn’t make any sense. The only way to do a great job for shareholders is to deliver on financials and the only way to do that is if people are buying your products/services. Last quarter Apple sold over 65M devices (not including Apple Watch, Apple TV or HomePod). That doesn’t happen if you’re doing a terrible job for your customers.

I have a series 3 and I love the damn thing so much I'd pay to have it repaired if this happened. I had a refurbished (from Apple) series 0 and had no issues except a cracked back case (unsure how that happened).
I can imagine heat is a component in the display separating - the watch can get hot at times and the display is probably attached with glue.

I wonder if this isn't due to the charging puck over-heating the watch. I know on my SS series 3 I charge it over-night and a lot of the times when I go to take it off the puck, my watch is very warm and even hot. So much so, that I now DO NOT charge my watch overnight. Instead I leave it off the charger, and charge it as soon as I get up while I am getting ready. It charges so fast that this isn't a problem for me but feeling the watch so hot was scaring me. I also wonder if Apple knows about this and that is what is causing the delay on the AirPower mat???
