AUB vs FSU - Auburn full of tricks. I like their coach, no idea of his name. He is better than their former coach Chiclets(sp?) :p
The funny thing is, they're really not full of tricks. They beat Alabama running only 3 types of plays. They seemed to run those same plays last night as well - They're just that good

Auburn beat Alabama, there is no way that Alabama should be in the title game over Auburn. It doesn't matter that Auburn won on a fluke play, the end result is that they won.

Auburn beat Alabama...

And while that is usually my way of thinking, I just can't discredit Bama. Auburn was blown out by 14 points by LSU. I can guarantee, that if the Iron Bowl was earlier in the season, this discussion would be completely different.

Alabama has a good team, no doubt. But they couldn't win their conference, so in my opinion, they shouldn't even be considered to play in the national title game. From what I've been reading, it looks like Alabama will be playing in the Sugar Bowl.

It doesn't matter. Forget all the details, you just need to look at the rankings. Auburn beat Alabama and are ahead of them in the BCS rankings, there is absolutely no way Alabama could jump Auburn. Now, if Auburn had lost to Missouri, you might have a better argument but even then, Missouri would've likely jumped Alabama.

The Sugar has the first pick, so they'll take Bama, but then the Orange gets the next two. They'll likely take an ACC team (Clemson) hen the next best available (in terms of fanbase support, exposure, etc), which would be Ohio State, presumably. After that the Sugar gets to pick. They have a future tie-in with the Big 12, so everyone is guessing they'll take OU instead of Oregon. Bama will beat OU by 40.

Why isn't anyone talking about a FSU-Bama BCSCS game? Alabama was the defacto #1 team in the country for 11 games and 59:59. They would easily be in if it wasn't for one once in a life time play. I usually side on, well this team beat them, so they should be in. But in this case both Auburn and Alabama have 1 loss. If Auburn was undefeated, different story. But to say that Auburn is the better team, I don't know about that...

Not a fan of either team btw, more of an Oregon bandwagoner ;).

Auburn beat Alabama and won the SEC. They both have one loss. There's no scenario that gets Alabama into the BCSCG over Auburn at this point.

Well even though Auburn beat Alabama and that still stings but damn it feels good watching Ohio State and Urban Cryer lose. Even a few of Urban's players from Florida are happy to see this. KARMA.....

This is the only time of year when I go for Auburn, so lets hope they beat FSU and keep the bcs title in the state of Alabama for 5 years in a row!

Fair enough, I respect your opinions. I think we can all agree that we need the playoff system. ;)

Doesn't the Orange Bowl get the first pick of at-large teams and the Sugar Bowl gets second?

Yeah I had it a little wrong. Since both bowls lose their hosts, they each get to pick before the at-large selections start. The Orange gets to pick before the Sugar (since their host, FSU, is #1), but they may be contractually obligated (if not bound) to pick an ACC team, if one qualifies. The presumption is that they'd take Clemson, though I suppose they could give the finger to the ACC and the Sugar and take Bama.

That's what I was thinking. Traditionally speaking, Clemson would look like the first choice but what team would draw a more favourable crowd/ratings? That alone would make me think the Orange Bowl would take Alabama over Clemson.

So final AP rankings are out. Ranks 1-3 is what I thought but did not know Michigan State would jump that high. I would imagine the BCS is going to have a similar order. Even if this was a playoff, OSU would still be locked out and their fans would be complaining it isn't fair this/that. Can't wait until next year where we can hear about how the new playoff system is still flawed. :D

I think the Orange has too much invested in the ACC for that to happen, plus these bowls all make back room deals.

1. Florida State
2. Auburn
3. Alabama
4. Michigan State

That's exactly the teams/seeds I'd have if the playoff started this year.

The top four rankings are right to me - Auburn deserves to play FSU for the national championship, and Alabama lost only to Auburn. I just hope that Bama gets to play a team ranked higher than Oklahoma in whatever bowl game they end up in. Michigan State will be playing Stanford, so a team between #6 and #10 would seem to be a more worthy opponent for Alabama. I doubt if they'd face another SEC team, so that leaves Ohio State and Oregon if you go by the AP rankings.

Of course. But losses early on have always been less influential than late in the season

I'd rather see Oregon, but rumor has it the Sugar will honor the tie-in with the Big 12 a year early and pick OU.

It boggles me that Northern Illinois is still ranked. Lost badly to sub-standard competition.

Georgia

too many players hurt this year..they would have been in the running for NC

BAMA will destroy Oklahoma in this game

Anyone going to the Rose Bowl? Tickets are between about $800 and $1400

Nope, I will be doing my regular all day veg out and eat buffet while nursing any NYE hangovers with a few buddies. We'll watch the bowl games and the Winter Classic. Much cheaper watching in HD.
