I never keep photos on icloud. I load them to Google photos where they are searchable. I am going to be getting my new iPhone X this evening. I might delete all my current photos on my camera to reduce the time for the new phone getting ready for use.

thanks for the pointless reply, appreciate it!

Same thing happened to me. My photos only showed up when I opened the photos app on mbp. Then my photos started appearing on my X

I love iCloud and use iCloud Photo Library and backup. However, I won’t restore from an iCloud backup unless it’s a last resort. I did it once and it took hours to get all my photos back. I learned.

When I have to restore after getting a new phone, I backup locally to iTunes first and then restore using that backup. Takes 20 minutes and I’m done. Everything on my phone.

I use iCloud backup as a failsafe and so I don’t have to connect it to my computer. More of a convenience feature.

Keep this in mind for future backup/restore.

I have found that iCloud Photos updates don’t sync at all until the X is charging. My 6s, my 7, and my iPad were never like that. Anyone else seeing this? When I delete photos from my iPhone X, or from my iPad, the two are not in sync until the X is on the charger. No me gusta.
