They processed a return so I could get a new retail phone. It's from the exact same batch and factory (F17) though. I did get Applecare+ with this replacement just in case. If it doesn't get better or I don't get used to it I'll just send it in for repairs through Applecare. Rest of the hardware is just fine so don't want to risk an exchange then.
Never understood the fuzz about refurbs, if a refurb performs better than a retail unit, then I'm more than happy with the refurb.
Sorry for your rough luck with screen lottery. Isn’t it possible to just get the screen replaced using AC+ now? It would count as one of your “incidents” but could be worth it if it ends up bothering you after awhile?
