It’s supposed to work as long as you have an Xfinity cable package, so I’m told. Internet shouldn’t matter.

Try to unplug the ATV and turn on again. I know some that got the error did that and it worked.
I’ve tried it all. Nothing is working. Updated the OS, unplugged and restarted. I guess the app just isn’t for me to use

I do not use an Xfinity DVR (using TiVo) but with this app I can record shows.
Where are the recordings being stored? Using this do I have a certain amount of GB of free cloud storage or something?

I don't know if Comcast has DVRs anymore, I think it is all cloud storage, at least the X1 is

I too am sitll a TiVo user. With my Xfinity stream on Roku, it looks like we get 20 GB free cloud storage. Higher amounts I think you need their cable box and costs more for more space too.

I would assume it works the same way, there are certain channles only available on home network
This I'm aware of, it works the same on the iOS app (it's mostly the big 4 local channels that are georestriced).

But IIRC, the Xfinity Streaming app on various smart home devices have different restrictions and are inconsistent. Some of the apps only work if you're in the home network, others are more lenient ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

I will just setup a VPN between locations then.

Have you also noticed that trying to stream the big 4 on macOS with private relay on sometimes doesn’t work?

I just checked, you can pause ff and Rewind
Seems that you can technically pause, rewind, and fast forward the live TVs buffer but the buffer seems to be only 1 minute long vs cable box where can pause and rewind whole show. Might have to set it to record while watching if want to rewind while live… on cable box you can do full rewind live without having to set it to record since the DVR is always going even when switch channels.

Looking for a bit of help/advice, post account login I get the following prompt on Apple TV:

At this time, you will not incur any equipment charges for using this device with your Xfinity service. All pricing is
subject to change upon customer notification.
By activating you acknowledge that Comcast may, at its discretion, provide complimentary access to TV networks
for periods of time and those networks may air programming with an R or TV-MA rating. You can always restrict access to programming using the Parental Control settings in Xfinity Stream.

So they may pull channels and reserve the right to start charging for the use of my Apple TV, then:

Terms of Activation
By activating, you agree that you want to enable cloud DVR technology to access your Xtinity Stream subscription on additional supported devices like computers and tablets, as well as the TV connected to your set-top DVR via Comcast's network. If subscribed to X1 VR with cloud technology, your acceptance also confirms that when you record programs on your set-top DVR you also want to save and store them automatically in Comcast's network in several formats to (1) enable you to play them back (and navigate within them) on additional supported devices like computers and tablets, as well as the TV connected to your set-top DVR, and (2) optimize the video and audio quality of your viewing experience during playback.

I assume “enable cloud DVR technology” is a gentle way of saying “your monthly bill will be going up again” - or am I just too suspicious of their shady pricing schemes?

We've had the same functionality on Roku for years. It's always said something to the effect of "Comcast reserves the right to charge for this app in the future." So far, they haven't.

If you previously didn’t have cloud dvr and want it, it will cost more. Most accounts have like 20 hours of dvr and you can upgrade from there.

So far none of the live tv channels work, I get a playback error, and the shows I checked out all said the same error.

One of the reasons I'm not as excited about it as some. It's cool, but unless Xfinity says, oh as long has you have our Internet and a subscription to cable we'll waive it, it's pretty much useless...
I think what you are saying is you have to have Comcast Internet to get their streaming TV. That's what I conclude from looking at their website. Unfortunate... because in Seattle CenturyLink's fibre is a much better option and price.

That’s what I was expecting there, standard CYA / reserve the right and less of a concern

Thank you - this is the part I assumed an immediate impact to my bill. I’m on an old plan that doesn’t include it so it looks like it would be $10/month extra from what I’ve found. And an easy thing to unwittingly accept.

I appreciate the help!

Classic Xfinity. Been waiting like 5 years for an app like this, they launch it, and nothing but errors. Playback Issue TVAPP-00249

Good to have the options when traveling with Apple TV. And when I’m too lazy to switch inputs ;)

One reason for the box is 4k content… if there were any :(
Bet like Roku it will have to be on the local network since it is not considered a mobile device.

I have to agree with many other posts, 5 years and kind of already outdated. It doesn't support PIP like channels, thats kind of big once you get used to it, and even Plex supports playing the show while you watch the guide. Plus Plex with HD prime saves on your monthly data limit when your on your own network, when that comes around to us.

I won't be giving up my HD Prime until xfinity kills support for cable cards, which i assume is coming one day. I could kill one more box, but saving $10 at this point isn't with it.

I guess it's just nice t have one more option in addition to channels and plex.
