Wow this thread really did go somewhere else haha, but I honestly didn't know much about Geohot until now, and how much he really looks like Frodo. Interesting stuff! How old is he by the way?

Hey don't even waste your time on this guy, he didn't even know who Geohot was 2 days ago and now he's bashing him like he has been against him the whole time. The guy really needs to grow up. As soon as he finds the next jailbreak, then he can call people douche holes. Lol

Do the Spirit JB guys normally announce a release date for their JB or does it just come out of the blue?

Fair play to them though to donate their time and effort to this for our benefit.

I love the speed etc of my IP4 but I'm really starting to miss my JB features - epecially LockInfo.

Chances ae they'll only announce it when it's ready, because they don't like setting deadlines.

it is usually out of the blue, but I believe this is ready, they are holding it back until apple release the first minor update to iOS4 so apple don't have the chance to fix the hole.

So with this JB Comex is going to release, can we use the existing Ultrasn0w unlock to unlock iPhone 4 or it's likely just benefit 3gs with new boot rom? thanks :)

MuscleNerd & planetbeing are working on the unlock for the iPhone 4. There's no telling if comex is waiting for them or the real reason behind it. People are just speculating that theyre waiting for the apple update.
 
Just donated $20 to comex. Maybe some of you will do the same to support his efforts.
 
A few miscellaneous questions...

1) Can anyone clarify where the mythical "universal exploit" fits into all this? I'm assuming it's not relevant to comex's "Spirit-like" jailbreak. Is it related to MuscleNerd and planetbeing's current work on iP4 unlocking? If not, who's actively working on it?

2) Has comex even made an official announcement? Everything I've seen has been from MN/planetbeing and, if I recall, they all indicated that comex was working on something. Where have you guys seen confirmation that his jailbreak is a done deal?

3) Last I heard comex didn't even own an iP4. Any idea how he tested his jailbreak tool?

Negative.
You wont be able to unlock the iphone 4 with the same ultrasnow unlock.
That only works for 3G and 3GS models.
The baseband on the iphone 4 is completelly different and will need a new unlock tool.

Comex has not made any announcements, but as far as I know MuscleNerd and PlanetBeing have jailbroken their iPhone 4's using comex' new userland exploit. That's how they've been able to work on the unlock. While this says nothing about a new release by comex, it indicates that it's really only a matter of time. As far as details, that's all speculation.
