Comex To Release Spirit Like Tool To Jailbreak iPhone 4, iPhone 3GS (New/Old Bootrom)

1. MuscleNerd & Planetbeing are doing the unlock, comex is doing the jailbreak.

2. No.

3. Using chpwn, MuscleNerd, and planetbeings iPhone 4's (and possibly a few others). Planetbeing was the one who got the jailbreak working on his i4.

But wasn't this done using proprietary Apple code?

If so, then for all we know it could take comex months to completely rewrite the relevant code from the ground up...

Yes, but according to Spiritjb:
What's up with 4.0? It's theoretically possible to chainload a 4.0 kernel on top of 3.1.x, which would allow the existing userland exploit to run a jailbroken 4.0 for devices with saved 3.1.x SHSH blobs, but quite hard. Instead, I'm focusing on exploiting a new bug, which is actually easier and should work on the iPhone 4 as well...

But comex isn't talking so hey, could be months.

I'm with Juiced, why pay someone for something they haven't done yet? lol I'm sure he's working on it but I need a final product before I donate any cash :rolleyes:

I hear you.
But again he's not the type to be collecting donations for something he will never produce like some other wannabe iphone hackers.
He did produce a nice spirit JB for 3.1.3 so if anyone was able to take advantage of it and use it to JB and unlock their iphones should throw in some money even if its $5-6 or whatever.
I didnt need to use spirit for 3.1.3 but when I do use his 4.0 JB for my iphone 4 I will.

You wont be able to unlock the iphone 4 with the same ultrasnow unlock.
That only works for 3G and 3GS models.
The baseband on the iphone 4 is completelly different and will need a new unlock tool.

So it looks like even with the Comex JB, we may still have to wait for a while to get the iPhone 4 unlocked :(

Yes, but planetbeing and MuscleNerd are already making good progress on an unlock. Not done by any mean, but they've been able to execute arbitrary code in the baseband processor, which is a big step.
 
Cant wait! Just bought my iPhone 4. For now I'm holding onto my Nexus but it wont be very long til I go back to my precious iPhone.
 
Yeah this wait is killing me also. But I'll be super happy once it's here... And it will be soon. Patience.
