- iPhone 5 is a rumor, but in any case 4" is not much more choice. Android offers up to 5.3" (there is an ipad for that yet android phone as you said! Why not switch brah?)
- iPhone retina is still old tech backlit LCD with old its shorcumings ( cereal again?!)
- What's "airplay"? New Apple phone? :) wtf cereal?! Airplay=wifi direct
- Sure, iOS doesnt need as much RAM as android, cause it can't multitask :) (trololol yea sure! I do much more stuff on my ipad aka running ios than a 10.1" transformer android tablet with a PHYSICAL keyboard and running real multitasking !)
- iOS7 is viporware
- iphone hi res front facing camera, NFC, LTE are only rumors, while Android phones had this for a year ( yea sure, but is it going anywhere from a year ago?) INB4applemakeitworktherightway).

When you hold the phone in one hand with the bottom corner of the device pressed into the middle of your palm (that's a fairly standard way to hold something like this), you'll notice that the joint where your thumb joins your hand is basically level with the bottom edge of the screen. This means you can reach down and across the screen easily, accessing the dock and other buttons that will be low on the screen. Now, try to reach lower than that. You'll probably find that, even if you have decent motility in your hand, reaching much below that point starts to take some effort. It feels less comfortable and, more importantly, a thumb pulled so far down is far less mobile and can't easily be used to interact with the screen. If that space below the screen wasn't there, that's where you would have to reach down to in order to use your phone - and that would be a very bad design.

Which is why they decided to put the Home button, there...

The only reason parts are being leaked or at the very least 'allowed' to be leaked is to generate buzz amongst the tech community and online for their upcoming flagship product.

It's not likely a secret ruse to put everyone off the scent. It's marketing - if there were no leaks or imagery we'd have an approximatey date and nothing more, nothing to discuss and nothing to argue about.

We're all just living proof that what they're doing and/or allowing - works.

I hate this dumb phone update here, but I'm buying it on the 12th. I love the previous post....It's the "iPhone 4S-long"

Then the CEO Tim Cook shouldn't have come out with a statement like, "double down on security" because it makes him look like an idiot!

Another, much more likely reason in my opinion, is that there is a high demand for leaked parts. Look how much traffic these images create. What site wouldn't want more traffic? Maybe the workers sneaking these parts out are getting paid to do so by someone looking for the latest on the new phone.

I'm glad I got in before the "even bigger is better" craze hit apple phones. I avoided android and american released winmo phones because of this. Just too big for my tastes.

It's very hard to find a phone with 'flagship' features or SoC on anything under 4.3" these days on android, and I think 3.8" is the WP7 min.

A single, physical button is not the same as a wide range of soft buttons, toggles and sliders. Not only is it easier to press and provides physical feedback but there are no other buttons around it to be accidentally pressed.

Not only that, the home button is far less frequently used than the touch screen itself.

Come on, if you're going to be sarcastic, at least give your comments a few moments of thought. Otherwise you just look like an idiot.

Sometimes people like you need to relax and take a chill pill rather than jumping up and down in the forums and calling people you don't know 'idiots' because they have a differing opinion to yours.

If you are an expert in ergonomic design, then maybe I'd take your hypotheses seriously. As I suspect you are not, then I don't. I'm allowed to disagree with you, you know.

I see no reason why having a slimmer bezel could not be done - and I expect it to be done in future iPhone revisions. Maybe even the iPhone we'll see next month. Just as I have no problem pressing the Home button in its current location, I suspect I'd have no problem tapping other buttons, sliders, or toggles that were located a few milimeters lower than they currently are.

I'm not an expert in ergonomic design, but that's my opinion. And you may not agree with me, but I certainly don't think you're an idiot because of that.

Have a good day, now!

Yeah because having a couple of prototypes in the lab and a product being manufactured in millions are the same thing each having the same chances of being leaked.

And, yet it happened in both situations, so what exactly is your point?

It blows my mind how much discussion and anticipation people have for this "magic box".

LTE isn't in my area or I'd be all over it for that...

Gary

Here's the deal, it's not that anyone is expecting some new "magical box" innovation. Most that are complaining and I'll include myself in this even though I haven't said anything yet is that we are looking for a TALLER + WIDER iPhone and not just a TALLER iPhone. Taller doesn't make sense but Wider and Taller does.

I myself would prefer a larger screen iPhone, Most Android phones have moved to that level including Microsoft phones and soon to be BB10 phones. If it is only taller then it's going to be a laggard and I myself will have to look elsewhere to make it easier on my eyes.

Apple is known for pushing ahead technology and innovation and now it seems to be playing Microsoft as catch up. It's embarrassing

Diagonal stretch from 3.5" to 4" is not some huge change as measured in a purely vertical scale. The landscape screen will not be 0.5" wider.

Diagram a rectangle of that screen size in something like Pages at the new dimensions and print it. Cut it out and lay it on your existing iPhone. The difference is relatively minor- nothing like some people are imagining. The virtual keys on the keyboard might expand at a very minor scale and/or spacing between the keys might increase by a few pixels. Again, print out a scale mockup and lay it on your phone and any imagination of an unwieldy expansion will quickly dissipate.

Here's my analysis! :)

Basically it seems like scaling it up would make it take up 60% of the screen instead of 50%, so I think that's highly unlikely. If they just scale it horizontally it looks a little funny to me, but not too bad. If they don't make the keys bigger, there is definitely space to add about one key per row.

Interesting, my guess is that keys will get a tiny bit wider and spacing between them will be a tiny bit wider too. In short, the keyboard keys will probably stay about "as is" (no new column of keys) but they'll scale up just a tiny bit to take advantage of the slightly wider screen in landscape mode.

Whether that's a great guess or a poor one, we'll all see soon enough.

iPhone 4S-Long in the flesh!

LOL, yeah, why couldn't they make it a tad bit wider too. It does look weird but I will get one.

These other trolls saying android is now better are just dreaming. S3 might be nice but guess what? It's running android, which sucks. Apps on the android market are mostly crap too.

Do you want a mercedez(iphone) or do you want a Ford(android)?

Even if this is a rumor i hope it isnt the real deal, if Apple only makes the phone taller i think they will loose many buyers, me being one of them. I have bought all iPhones but now i feel the screen is just damn small. Even Galaxy S2 has 4.2 from last year.
This new iPhone need to be atleast 4.2 or bigger screen. Instead of having huge area on the top and bottom i hope they can use the are for screen.
I'm so close on jumping to GSIII but must resist.
What i mostly hate is that Siri isnt even supported in my language which is Swedish and Google is adding this to their list. Apple is making damn enough money so why they play cheap is making me very sad and disappointed.
