Those prices are fair and are only marginally more expensive than I paid for my original iPhone on a 18 month contract. Not bad for anyone wanting to buy one to unlock.

How much did unlocking the old one cost?

I guess this will have an effect on second hand prices of the old one?

Now that I know the price, I am very tempted ot buy the original 16GB of eBay and save me some money.

Until they opted to sell cheap to clear old stock the 8gb handset was £269 so it's only increased by £30 and if you do use the o2 PAYG sim then that includes 6 months data.

How does the O2 PAYG work?

If I top up £15, I get the 500 free texts, does that mean I still have the 150 texts from the £15 I spent?

Yes you should still have your £15 credit to spend as you wish, the tariff additions are a free incentive.

I quote: "We have a range of Pay & Go tariffs to suit your needs. Each tariff gives you a free allowance of minutes, texts or both depending on how much you top-up each month. You also have the amount you top-up each month to spend however you choose."

QUALITY!

Ok im not going to be going to T-Mobile for the first 6 months then ha ha!

Quality :D

so if we top up £30
we get unlimited texts for that month + the £30 calling credit?

Lets clarify this:

FREE Data and Internet for 6 Months on PAYG.

No one has ever done this - its a huge thing and seems to have slipped out of this post - 3G and Wi-Fi access and no charge for 6 months.

Second of all you can put as little or as much credit as you like on the phone but if you put a minimum every month you get extra bonus minutes/texts depending on the amount you top up which is on the O2 page.

So we are talking £40 more for the 8GB than originally but it is PAYG and there is no minimum contract and I assume you get the same Apple warranty which lets you swap it in apple stores if something goes wrong.

I think this is a very good price and a really good deal. I am on contract so for me its not something I would use but if I was not sure about a contract that is a great deal!

Tempting to sell my Touch and get one.... Wait until after xmas, as i can get by for a couple months on P&G, then see if there is a deal after xmas.

You're excited about paying $600 for an 8Gig iPhone.

I don't get it, and it's still locked?

Yes, no contract, but you'll need to pay for service anyways...

im only excsied cus i've been using this phone for 10 years

I'd rather buy it on contract. I don't understand why so many people are against contracts. I typically keep a phone for around 2 years anyway and its not as if when your a existing iPhone customer you have to wait or buy out of your existing contract you can just upgrade. No penalties.

LOL come on guys wake up....

8GB iphone 3G = 299.99
minimum top up = 10.00 x 18 = 180.00
wireless net free for 6 months then 10.00 x 12 = 120.00

so on payg over 18 months the iphone will cost you 599.99 and you get rubbish tarriffs.

the 500 mins to o2 and landlines is ONLY FROM 1 LOCATION! they check your cell tower location so you can only call from home.

OR

300 TXT

OR

50 XNET OFF PEAK ONLY after 7pm

OR

Unlimited texts to O2

a pretty rubbish deal if you ask me!

or

contract

iphone 99
35 x 18 = 630

729 all in for UNLIMTED NET 600 MINS to however you like from wherever you like whenever you like AND 500 texts!

I'd rather pay the extra 130 quid cos on PAYG you are going to paying more than that in the extra credit you wuill need!

What about if I want to buy and put my current o2 Contract sim in, like i could do with any other o2 or unlocked phone?

Can anybody answer this? Will someone on an o2 SIMplicity tariff, or someone in a current contract with o2 be able to put their SIM (provided its one of their 3G SIMs) in the new iPhone or do we think it will be tied to the supplied SIM??

Tell me if I understand this correctly.

When I activate my iPhone and top up £10 I get to choose either Favorite place and get 500 mins to UK landlines or O2 mobiles, or I choose Text anytime, and get 300 texts to anyone. All that as well as my £10 top-up, with a call charge of 25p per min for the first 3 mins, and 5p per min for any consecutive minuets?

What about the talkometer, O2 unlimited, and your country bundles?

As well as that, I get free data for the first 6 months?

Its the "If you buy the iPhone online at o2.co.uk, you can choose to buy either the Text Anytime or Favourite Place tariff. If you buy elsewhere you'll be set up to our Favourite Place tariff. If you prefer one of the other tariffs, you can easily change tariff once a month." That confuses me.

It is NOT a minimum top-up!

It says if you top up the minimum you get EXTRA texts/calls.

If you want to not top it up ever and just get incoming calls and free internet for 6 months you can.

Read it carefully!
