Activate without the sim in the phone then. There is no possible way those sims are permanately tied to that #. They had to "write" the information to it to begin with, so they have to be able to "re-write". I know nothing about SIM cards and how they work, but we have to use a little bit of logic here.

i plan on calling in before i even open the box....i'm not doing anything until they have it switched over.

And if it does require a sim and they knew this, why wouldn't they send plenty out to stores? Everyone does this sort of thing by using an alternate upgrade line.

+1!!

If anyone has any luck with any of the methods posted here (activating with no sim in the phone, calling in before opening the box, etc), PLEASE post details of how you managed it for everyone else.

isnt this all just coming from one person at one store?? before everyone goes into panic mode has anyone tried calling verizon before even opening the box?

Doing this right now. Mine just got dropped off.

Word of advice, if they say no on the phone, call back...sometimes you get one that has no clue.

I was in our store yesterday and the guy said the iPhone has no sim whatsoever....yea I feel real comfortable putting it in his hands.

Trying to get my iPhone switched now. Having a lot of trouble. Doing it on the website, it says Device Change Transaction

I have a rep calling me back to help me out but she was having trouble too. She said she should be able to transfer it, but it wasn't working.

I think it has to do with the nano sim... I will update if I can get this figured out.

Gotta love how they all were saying just call in and how easy it would be. Do these guys have any clue at all?

im guessing you activated it first?

Guys....whatever you do, DON'T TURN IT ON until you call in and they tell you to. Once you do, it activates and that's the issue.
