You bought our car. The a/c only works part of the time. Buy a fan. Problem solved.

I don't want a case.

IMO cases belong in the 1990s.

I'm not convinced that a bumper (or other case) really solves the problem. I've seen too many mixed reports, and the only person I know with a case hasn't seen an improvement (although they wanted a case for protection).

Maybe it's a European thing, but when I buy an expensive product (or any product for that matter), I expect it to work without having to buy a clunky extra.

I bought a $5 case on ebay, didn't help. $30 speck case, completely solved the problem. So buy a Speck case.

Yes, it is a bit of an inconvenience to buy something you weren't expecting to, however, you can't so easily fix the problems in the alternatives.

Its a trivial issue because you can solve the problem forever with the right case. Speck 3D, that is what did it for me.

Also, Apple'/AT&T will give us a voucher soon.

Alright - I'll bite.

The ONUS for the fix shouldn't be on the consumer. Period.

Now I'm sincerely done responding to your drivel.

There's a difference between profiteering and investing.

People will always take advantage of the market. And then they will sell it off when they feel they are maxing out their profits. So buying behavior in wake of a disaster is not at all surprising. It's still very risky and depends on how quickly people believe that "bounceback" will be. It could be 6 months. It could be years.

Yup, but fact is, they will recover, then they'll keep going strong. This isn't even the first time BP has done something like this, it just so happens the recent incident was a perticularly bad one. But the demand for oil is constant, and BP can supply it, so they'll do just fine.

That's like saying you can solve a broken leg with crutches.

It's better to not have a broken leg.

I don't want to buy a case for my iPhone 4.

I have no intention of doing so.

I said in light of the flaws found in the alternatives. Put a case on your phone problem solved. I did.

YOu can't solve Droid problems so easily. You make my point for me, thanks.

You didn't say "in light of the flaws found the alternatives, you said their "shortcomings". Those are two different things. What problems or "flaws" does the Droid have? And how did I make your point? Your delusional thinking that the iPhone 4 reception flaw has no "weight".

I'm perfectly relaxed. Sincerely. I'm enjoying watching what will be a PR Case Study for students to learn from for years to come.

Consumers are only one aspect of the equation. Stockholders - a whole other. The press can and no doubt is wreaking a bit of havoc on people's decisions whether to buy, sell or hold.

Apple will survive - that's not a question in my mind. But bad press is bad press is bad press. Their IMAGE is being tainted. What the long term effects will be - only time will tell. And only time.

I think we're just disagreeing semantically then. As a marketing person, I'm sure your definition of "bad press" is much different from an outsider's! It's probably way different for me as a former lit major-- we have tendencies to overly complicate words.

Anyway, things will work themselves out in time. Before you know it, it'll be June 2011 and people will have opportunities to direct their wrath at the iPhone 5. O, humanity :p

YOU CANNOT be for real! ........YOU FANBOYS do not realize that you are doing as much damage to the product as the actual product is doing to itself. Everyone having a problem does not hate Apple, THEY ARE JUST HAVING PROBLEMS WITH THEIR PRODUCT!

Sorry that you getting bashed by your EVO loving friends and not having anything to say has turned you to the dark side.

It really is not an issue, buy a case, it solves the problem.

They will give us a voucher for $30 and you won't even remember the days when your beloved phone dropped calls.

You are perpetuating the problem with you rants. You have bought into Apple being evil for their mishandling of the issue originally. YOU NEED TO GO VISIT YOUR DOCTOR!!!!! ask for help.

It's totally mob mentality and the stupid media.

No one holds there phone in a death grip to use it. I have a iPhone 3GS that has never had an issue, when i heard about the "death grip" i tried it and the same thing happens on that phone.

In the real world 99% of the time this is a non issue. People just have this stupid placebo effect now that they KNOW you can kill the signal if you hold it a certain way and will blame that on every dropped call or other issue which is usually the fault of AT&T's horrid network.

Oh well.

i do.

Because you are egocentric. I'll explain it to you.

YOU solved YOUR issue with a case because that's what YOU wanted. And it works for YOU.

Other people might not want to use a case or might want the device they bought to actually function as it's supposed to without a jury-rig.

I saw this analogy - it might make sense to you.

I buy a car.
The car works fine - but darn it - the gas take has a whole and leaks gas. I can drive - but my mileage is really bad
The manufacturer says "no problem - use duct tape"

Yes - the duct tape will "solve" the results of the issue - but it doesn't solve the PROBLEM itself. The problem is that there is a hole in the gas tank. No one is arguing that there might be a fix/band aid. What people want is a gas tank without a hole.

Please don't use duct tape to fix a gas line leak.......;)

Apple definitely has an issue here. This is probably one of the biggest design faux pas they've had since the Apple III.

They'll cope with it. Their coffers are vast.

What really sucks is the fact that everyone assumes because the media says "iPhone can't make calls, faulty antenna" everyone that has one, has the problem.

I won't deny the fact that a problem exists, but it isn't every phone... Mine works fine no matter how I hold it. So because "x" amount out of 1.7 million + phones has an issue, people start demanding some sort of justice... It's just human nature.

Yeah i don't find those words materially different in this context.

EVO
A massive disappointment in design of its appstore, i tried it, I know
A massive disappointment in its do-everything UI, I tried it, I know
A massive disappointment in its stupid touch controls, press and hold for everything
A massive disappointment in its battery life. SERIOUSLY one charge lasted 40 MINUTES!!!
A massive disappointment in how it fits in your pocket, every person I met wondered if I was happy to see them
A massive disappointment in its reliability, apps hang constantly, restarted EVO at least a dozen times in three weeks, lags terribly
A massive disappointment in its touch technology, just doesn't work like an iPHone sorry droid lovers (LAG), Iphone owns touch

For that to be true, Apple's denial of the problem is false.

That means they're lying to customers.

What you are suggesting is that Apple has shipped defective devices that they aren't accepting are faulty and not allowing customers to get them replaced.

I don't see that being the case

LOL. Indeed.

I'd love to know what problem (for the OP) we're perpetuating. If there's no issue as far as he's concerned - how can we be perpetuating anything. Unless - wait for it...... there IS a problem to be perpetuated LOL.

Mwahahahahahahha. Yes, our plans to bring down apple are coming to fruition. After several years of work, us stonecutters were able to unite all those trampled by apple's success. We devised for years how we were going to attack. In the Internet we found our delivery system and after we got all news outlets on the same page, we decided to execute against apples most recognizable product, the iPhone. Once it was released, we launched our spy bots to post on made up reception issues on every comment and forum section we could find. Once it was established and people started to belive our nonsense, we hit with the tech news sites. After this point, most of the technogly inclined citizens believed in the antena issue. All the was left was to turn the general public against apple, and that is where consumer reports came in. After we had them publish that article we made sure all other news publications would bring even more attention and our plans of destroying apple are almost complete! Mwahahahahahahahahahaha!

Blame the iPhone's autocorrect, not me. Typing in Safari with iOS 4 also isn't a good experience.

Typing defective doesn't auto correct to defected I'm also typing from my ip4.

I was gonna say grab a dictionary.

Maybe the media is starting to hate Jobs for his cocky attitude. It happens when you're at the top. No one will care if a Nokia smartphone has bad reception.

Apple has put themselves on a pedestal of the elite. With the Premium price and those get a mac ads, they need to live up to their claim of excellence.

Honestly, all of that is their bread and butter. They need to do something to protect the image they spent millions and years creating.

The phrase I am seeing most is.. Welcome to Microsoft. This is not good.

Whatever happened to the Apple slogan 'It just works'?

Should it be changed to 'It just works. Once you put a case on it'?

For years Apple has been touting the perfection of it's devices and how they could basically do no wrong. Now that is coming back to bite them in the ass big time. They wanted to be a big player on the block, now they will have to deal with everything that comes along with it.
