I won't upgrade my father's iPhone for instance. He just can differentiate when a text is a text from when a text is actually a button.

All this hiper-simplified icons with no real meaningful message makes no sense to him e ther. He got lost when he tried to use my IOS7 iPad.

There are words underneath the icons though. Like no offense, but, i'm sure he can read. My 80 year-old grandmother is loving iOS on her iPhone 4s, she likes the icons better than ios 6 lol. It does take a little getting used to but once I saw all the new features I was and still am SOLD!!!!!!:D

Can't hate it more.

Much less intuitive. Full of bugs. Extremely slow. Irresponsive touch. Crashing and rebooting with frequency. Battery hogging.

All that for nothing in return.

Cook issued an excuse letter for Maps app inaccuracy, huh? That is because he could just blame someone else. I have many GPS/Maps applications with years in the market and they all have mistakes. The issues with Maps accuracy are nothing compared to this IOS7 mess.

Who also think Cook should also issue an excuse letter?
Not me. What device are you using?
I have a couple of iPhone 5 and they are working fine.

Under what icons? Most don't' have text, and many "buttons" are just text only and no icons or anything else.

Keep in mind, everyone is different, so the fact that some don't have any issues doesn't mean that others don't. And as soon as you have some others that do, that already makes something at least less than great (it might still be good and whatnot, but not perfect or great), if not worse overall, or at least for those who are having issues.

...

Second...would you like iOS 7 better if Cook issued a letter of apology? Would that make iOS 7 better?

...

:)
It would let those of us who are suffering through VERY degraded iPhone performance since upgrading to iOS7, know that Apple is aware and is working on the problems.

Right now, I have ZERO confidence Apple is working on the small % of us who's phones are a shadow of their former selves. Apple's done it multiple times in the past. My parent's iMac is FOREVER stuck at 10.6.2, because if they update, the SOFTWARE kext's will render the iMac useless with spinning beach ball after about every hour , which requires a hard reboot.

https://forums.macrumors.com/threads/1262891/

There are many other instances where Apple have let the small % pound sand.

For all of you claiming iOS works fine, please define your definition of "fine"... Fine for me is acceptable but not great...

So, only keep "I like <x>" threads? What's the point of forums like this one again?

Forums like this are helpful when you have an issue or have a "how do I" type question and you post a thread and someone out there may have a suggestion or a fix for you.

What have we been seeing lately? Nothing but complaints about iOS 7. It would be productive if they actually submitted FEEDBACK to Apple from Apple's website. Instead, they all gather here and make a hate circle and come up with all sorts of unproductive threads like "Should Tim Cook apologize?" "Should Forstall come back?". Seriously?

I certainly agree with a good portion of that. That said, I also don't see an issue with threads like "animations are too long" or "calendar is worse" or something along those lines where people discuss their issues and others can share similar feelings or perhaps propose some workarounds or alternatives. However, when most of those threads start getting filled with a bunch of people repeatedly and pointlessly putting down those who see issues here and there, that becomes even more worthless than even "who should apologize" or something like that.

Even those threads have a place in forums like these, just perhaps maybe in a more "general" discussion sub-forum or something like that. But, again, what's even more counterproductive and worthless is simply putting down others who are discussing issues simply because you don't feel those are issues, and that's happening far more now than even people bringing up issues to discuss.

While I agree with this, the initial launch was a disaster. It's definitely improved a lot over the months though. Something that apple does very well is that they fix problems very quickly.

I used the iOS 6 beta with maps to drive through rural Arkansas and it was great, actually beat Google that time.

Now, the 3D view can still be wonky....

I have nothing but good memories from the transition of IOS4 to IOS5 and IOS6.

Each time we got real improvements, better performance, less bugs, and much better experience.

Jobs would never have allowed IOS7 to leave to market with so many flaws. Text that are actuallu buttons, crashes at last once a day, bugs so stupid that resemble Microsoft lack of care... And it is NOT more beautiful, it is just different.

Then you obviously have rose tinted glasses.

Ever used iOS 4 on an iPhone 3G? That brought a whole new experience to the word slow. It would also crash on a regular basis.

iOS 5 meh it was OK but IIRC battery life was an issue. iOS 6 battery life again and maps. I had issues with maps and still do. But I actually understand what the application is doing and to do what they did in such a short space of time is remarkable.

All of them had issues upon release and every single time we had the prophets of doom demanding an apology from whomever.

I have news for you. Maps was the exception and not the rule. It's not going to change. The bugs will get fixed (like they always do).

Fine is fine. Fine. If something was broken I wouldn't personally describe it as fine.

For me IOS 7 is, genuinely, great. It works better on my iPhone 5 then 6.1.4 did. On 6 I had very spotty wifi, on 7 it's solid as a rock. The phone hasn't frozen, dropped a call or done anything else like to concern me, which for a major new version of IOS is good going - the worst I've seen is springboard "re-springing" once, and the Settings app crashing harmlessly once or twice. I like the new look and I love the new features. My battery is notably better. Basically there's nothing not to like about it.

For you, perhaps. A lot of people actually haven't had any Wi-Fi issues in iOS 6, or any crashes or resprings, dropped calls, or something freezing up. A lot had good battery life as well. So, none of those things have improved for them with iOS 7. Sure, many other new things might be improvements, but there are others that weren't improved and were either removed or changed to where they are worse as far as how a lot of people used them before, which worked great for them, and now they can either no longer do those things at all or the new way of doing them is not nearly as convenient, or fast, or that useful to those people.

So, for some it can certainly be an improvement, for some it's not really anything one way or another, and for others it can be worse in some way--depends on what your experience was like before iOS 7, what you typically use the phone for, how you typically use it, etc.--which is different for different people.

Now, as far as any apologies or campaigns or boycotts or whatnot, that's a whole separate thing that's not even really worthy going into. But, it doesn't take away anything from the reality mentioned above.

"Hey man, it's a beta, chill out."

(4 months later)

"Hey man, 7.1 will fix everything, relax."

(4 years earlier)

"It's not going to have any of the problems Windows Vista had. Trust me."

Except W7 actually didn't have any of the problems Vista had...

...why not expect the same for 7.1?

For you, perhaps.

For me, definitely :)

The thing is, you're comparing the final version of IOS 6 with the first version of IOS 7. In actual fact a lot of people did experience all of those issues with 6.0. Wifi was a particular problem area with some serious issues to begin with; these were patched and improved on over time but some, like me, were still suffering right until IOS 7 hit. Battery life? Terrible under 6.0. Again, it got better, but it's not like it was ever a great strength of 6.x.

Compare 6.0 to the last version of IOS 5. You'll find 5.x was more stable, had less wifi issues, and had major features like built in YouTube and Google Maps that were simply lost in the update to 6. You think none of those updaters complained? Is that why Apple still allow us all to roll back to 5? Oh, wait, they don't.

Didn't have any issues with iOS 5 or 6 as far as I can recall, nothing Wi-Fi related, nothing battery related, and the long outdated YouTube and Google Maps apps that Apple had made sense to go--Google's own Maps and YouTube apps are certainly no worse and for the most part are way better. iOS 6 was just like iOS 5 for me but with some new items/improvements that were introduced in iOS 6, so in a sense even slightly better.

So...see...personal differences make it a different experience for different people. I'm sure in your case you saw improvements with various things and maybe not so much with others, while in my case I didn't see a lot of those improvements because nothing had to be improved as far as Wi-Fi or battery or anything like that for me.

Yes they do. But I'm a little bit confused about how or when you feel I might have inferred otherwise?

How is it productive putting down those that share an opposite viewpoint just because they don't agree (I see lots of references to fanboy and troll and how is this helping anything or not being insulting)? So these threads are only supposed to be for those that agree with the complaints and all else should stay out unless they somehow come to offers solution or change their viewpoints to match the rant of the thread?
I see lots of these threads with nothing more than the intention of a modern day witch hunt and if your sentiments don't agree then stay out. How does that make these threads any sort of discussion? A discussion is an exchange of ideas and viewpoints and not a rally to gather the troops before the sacrifice.

I couldn't disagree more. Maps have seen very little updates where I live since the initial launch. And I have not gotten a single response from a map correction report nor has a single issue I have sent to Apple been fixed. There are a huge number of threads on this forum about this very thing. If anything Apple has a terrible system setup to make corrections (mostly because they don't own the data).
