Looks OK - There is just the feeling of nothing 'fresh with this update'. The things that 4.0 should have also had is;

-BT file transfer
-Abilty to lock screen rotation - this is annoying when in bed
-Que downloads in the App Store - so when you quit App store 3 Apps will download
-A dropdown bar in the homescreen to toggle on/off 3g BT WiFI - it is such a bind to turn these things on/off
-A screen to see all the apps that have a notification as when an App is on the 4th screen you cannot see the badge

That would have made me a happy chappy

Hello,

why is there no change to the lockscreen. I mean so that you can see missed cals, mails and SMS, etc

That was one of the big things that I thought was in the new OS 4.0

//E

Actually it is possible to see missing calls and SMS since iPhone OS 1.0 (?). But I'd also like to see a new lockscreen.

The amount of moaning in this thread.…:(

4.0 should've had bell animations and whistle sound effects".

I can't edit in a quote before 4.0 in that sentence. Keyboard bug.

EDIT: you're not asked to rate an app after deleting it.

The iPod remembers your last song after a reboot. I'm not sure if it remembers the position in the track because it started the song from the beginning when I hit play.

BT Keyboard?

I was hoping to be able to connect an external BT keyboard. AFAICT that's not in 4.0?

is this the same for podcasts as well? i assume it would be... i hate it when i plug my phone in to my car, hit play, and it doesn't pick up where i left off the previous day.

Closing apps

I know SJ said something about it in the keynote. But I want to know from the people holding the beta: Is there a way to close the apps that are in the multi-tasking bar?

You can remove them the same way you can apps in launchpad - by holding a finger over them for a second and wait for the wobble.

Why don't the folders look like folders?

I appologize for the rough edit, but...

You're telling me you find this:

folders3.jpg

...more useful than this?

folders1.jpg

Why? Using actual folder icons seems far less useful and a lot more confusing. I have to imagine your're just about the only person who would want that sort of folder-view.

I think Apple should have made the way to quit apps is to drag them off the Dock. It seems quicker than a long-press.

But let's hope what Scott F. said was true about users won't even have to worry about quitting apps (as in, preformance should always be optimized).

- Ability to accept iCal events through my phone, and send calendar invites (this is a must for business use IMO). I find it crazy that I have to be in the office/home to accept my calendar invites.

- Name search on the 'keypad' within phone book. So I type the name on the numbers and it searches the contacts (like smart dial).

You can definitely send calendar invites. I've never tried to from my phone, so I don't know if it is actually new for 4.0 (Invitees under the event edit page). No sign of being able to accept invites like in iCal/most calendar programs.

I tried the phone number search first thing. It's something I really wanted but sadly doesn't seem to be there :(

Double space for a period has been modified. It only creates a period now if you double tap fast, and not if you simply create two spaces.

i added all the recent ones to the front page.

one feature that's missing, that NEEDS to be implemented is having the option of displaying 'emails' in the messages app.

when i type someone's name, their email address comes up too, i do not want that in my messages app, only in mail.

Can somebody a screenshot of in App SMS - why has this awesome feature been overlooked?

Thanks,

Shawn
