Hmm... so we've said 2pm as the 'start' but assume that the 'hardcore' should be there slightly earlier to find space and get things set up. So I'm guessing we should be there between 1-1.30 which would mean being at Waitrose somewhere around 12.30?
Suits me. We'll leave Richmond around 11.30.

Edit: Actually, I'll probably do my shopping in Richmond and just pick you up from Marylebone High St around 1pm. I'd recognize Lau, and probably dcv, but BV has been too coy to publish her likeness within living memory, as far as I know.

There are a number of tube track closures planned for engineering works over the summer. It looks like it's the turn of the Hammersmith & City, Circle and Metropolitan lines next weekend. Regent's Park station is unaffected as it's on the Bakerloo line but anyone planning on coming to Great Portland Street, or Baker Street via the H&C/Circle/Met may have to change their route.

* I'll post an update on this next week when I get the latest email from TfL. *

Good point. For next weekend The Met line is running in as far as Baker St, but the H&C is virtually out. Also the Northern Line is only coming in as far as Camden Town, but if you get off at Camden Regent's Park is only a short walk away (come out the station and walk straight up Parkway).

As an extra possible, the Victoria Line comes into Warren Street, which is only a few hundred yards walk from Great Portland Street station. There's no planned works on the Victoria line next weekend.

No, he just sits on the sofa, while I get the bean bag on the floor :D

I'm up for turning up early if you need an extra pair of hands.

Great... I suspect the 2-6pm times are the 'guaranteed' points at which some people will be there for definite. It's likely that if things are going well and the weather is good that it may start a little earlier or run a little later (or a lot later!) ;)

I've been to a picnic in Oslo today and I hope the London picnic will be just as good. This one was part of a bachelor party, so I don't expect all parts of it to be as spectacular, but I expect the London one will have its own merits. I'll run with the London picnic gang as long as people are up for it.

I feel partialy guilty for BV's mail qualms... in that respect don't worry about me, there's still plenty of time before the big day :)

With regards to dogs... as long as I don't have to face crazy Pit Bull like breeds I'm happy... (I had an encounter with an Amstaff recently, they seem just as bad as Pit Bulls)

Unbeliveable. I live in Oregon but I will actually be in Europe on Saturday. In Amsterdam. Or on the train to France, not sure which. Gah! Londons a bit out of the way, but I will be there in internet-spirit. There should be a live feed, like there is for Macworld!

Something tells me the headline in the papers will be Drunken Mac Nerds Evicted from Park after Bart (and Hector) the Dogs went on a Wild Rampage and Destroyed much of London.

Ok, so maybe its a bit long for a headline, but it would be somewhere in the article at least. :D

How about "DOGS BITE BACK IN BOOZY MAC ATTACK!"

Perfect tabloid headline :D

Oh, don't worry about it. I'm such a terrible procrastinator outside of work and sometimes like things to gel a little. Wouldn't be surprised if certain events are spontaneously improvised on the day... at the moment, I'm also just trying to tie down what my other friends are doing before I can say with any certainty what my movements on the day will be.

The forecast is shaping up well but we all know how accurate they can be especially when it's still a few days out.

Just a note for people aiming to get to the park by Tube...

I'm getting conflicting information... a pdf tube map I downloaded from Transport for London suggests Regent's Park station will be closed from June. But a more recent BBC report states it'll be closed from July.

The journeyplanner.tfl.gov.uk site is giving out routes to Regent's Park for the 24th of June, but if I crank it up to the 31st, it doesn't return any routes. So, it really looks as if Regent's Park will be open for next weekend (woohoo!).

I'll be giving tfl a call before I leave, just in case :)

Since there's no 31st June perhaps? :D

I think we did go and have a look and it is now open until end June.

Bah! Only the weak will let that stand in their way! It's clearly my God-given right to travel on non-existent dates! It's all a conspiracy by that commie Livingstone! The sky is falling! Hand me my copy of the Daily Mail! :D

(d'oh.... I just scrolled to the bottom of the dropdown list, assuming the tfl website would account for my stupidity.)

*grin*

Regent's Park station is still open, they just buggered up the tube map. It'll be closed from the beginning of July.

Travel Update...

OK just to confirm tube closures for this weekend:

Circle line
No service between Baker Street and Liverpool Street.
Anyone planning to use the Circle Line (clockwise) to get to the park should still be able to travel as far as Baker Street and walk up from there... I doubt the service will be very frequent though!

Hammersmith & City line
No service on the entire line.

Metropolitan line
No service between Baker Street and Aldgate.
Anyone coming in from NW London should alight at Baker Street and walk up from there.

Northern line
No service between Camden Town and Kennington on the Charing Cross branch.
(This might possibly affect some people's routes.)

So there will be no services at Great Portland Street station.

Regent's Park on the Bakerloo line (or Baker Street) is probably the best bet.

Another option is Warren Street, but only the Victoria line will be stopping there.

Link to Tube Map for those of you not familiar with London.
NB: Regent's Park station will be closed from July, not June as it says on the map.

Link to Streetmap for Regent's Park area.

I like the Jubilee line, it makes funny noises. :)

:D hehe

So it's probably just me who's majorly inconvenienced by the closures then? grrr.

OK not really 'majorly'; I just thought I'd add some drama cos it's Monday morning and I'm bored ****less...

yep i'm going to be :

12.35 Kings Cross Underground
Take the Victoria Line towards Brixton

12.46 Oxford Circus
Take the Bakerloo Line towards Queen's Park
or Bakerloo Line towards Harrow & Wealdstone
or Bakerloo Line towards Willesden Junction
12.48 Regents Park

Alight at Oxford Circus for the Apple Store Regent Street
Go and mess around in there for a bit, then jump onto the Bakerloo line to Regents Park
