MBP MB M C2D CD ....

I certainly hope there is more to life than this... seems like *some* are disturbed because *some* are trying to control something you have NO control over...

One can speculate, guess, and think about it...but to argue and fight over who is right and wrong over this just makes me feel sad.

In the end...just enjoy what comes from the high and mighty "APPLE"

Pertaining to the date of release, I did a little research.

The original 17" MacBook Pro was released April 24th. Six months later, on October 24th, they're released with the new Core 2 Duo processors. Exactly six months.

May 16th was when the MacBook came out, so maybe their aiming for an exact six months with that and heading for a November 16th release of the new MacBook's with the Core 2 Duos?

Just a thought, and it seems like a viable one, although I'd be particularly excited if they came earlier than that because I plan on purchasing one.

This could be true and since stores like Best Buy have 1/3 of the MacBooks sold out. IMHO, I say next week rather than tomorrow but the earlier the better.

I agree with you on the release date in a week; Apple's been doing pretty much a new product a week since the red iPod came out; with MBPs last week and Shuffles this week, I think the MB will hit the stores by next week. Supply-wise shouldn't be too much of a problem, since I'm guessing they'll use the 1.83 and 2 GHz chips (to help make another distinction between the MB and MBP). The MBP still needs a bit of extra time on the front page of Apple's site, too. :p

I would definitlely LOVE the idea of a graphics card in the MB. I think it's silly that the MBP is typically using the same card as most of the iMacs. They should put a better card in the MBP (after all, it is the pro machine) and put an x1600 in the MB. That would be sweet...

The Blackbook should just get an X1600, then the entire laptop line would make sense, as in you could see definate advantages moving from one price point to the next all along the line.

It also makes the 'black' model more of a pro model as opposed to a fashion one.

It would also fill the gap of a smaller notebook with a real GPU that is something I think they definately need

I'm close to laughing at all the professors that bought MacBook Pros last month. Don't make me start on the MacBook too.

They aren't that much slower and 64 bit is not "real" yet. Early adopters of Mac Book Pros have bought machines with considerable legs.

Even future Intel chip upgrades are incremental in the mid-term future. Minor clock updates, significant mask size reductions mainly to lower power and temperature.

But performance wise these are the real deal for 3 years or so.

Yes, even Yonah.

Possible reasons why they would upgrade to C2D

Just thinking about likely reasons why they would want to get C2D MB out sooner than later....

1) Possibly sales going down with everyone anticipating a C2D upgrade?
2) Seems like everyone with a C2D MBP is noticing improved temperatures. Maybe by getting the C2Ds in the MBs, they can reduce the number of heat problems in production?

Just a guess'n.

For me, I'm getting the MB C2D because:
a) I need it (3 months overdue).
b) Cheap.
c) Dying to dump Microsoft.
d) I'm vouching that this C2D can last for long long time since it's 64-bit. Better be prepared than getting the CD MB just to hit a 32-bit dead end (soon). And once again, I need it.

Isn't 64-bit completely useless for a laptop with a chipset that can't handle 4+ GB of ram?

Simple answer:

No. Not tomorrow. Not next week. Not next month. Next year.
I must disagree with you on this. Apple wants to appear ahead of the curve, not behind it. With pricing unchanged since its introduction, the MacBook is increasing looking uncompetitively priced. If Apple was planning to keep selling it for a while, a price reduction would be necessary, and Apple is not exactly famous for price reductions.

Look for new MacBooks on Nov. 7 or Nov. 14 (or less likely Nov. 21), in time to sell lots on Black Friday.

I'm pretty sure that was a typo of some sort and you meant to say "October."

This is a plausible theory even though "6 months" is still arbitrary and not etched in Apple's stone. For example, the last (G5) iMac (with built-in iSight and Front Row) was introduced in October 2005 and replaced by the Intel iMac less than 3 months later in January 2006 (with a dual core processor no less)...which is why conventional wisdom never expected the iMac to be the first to switch.

I wish the name of this thread wasn't called Core 2 Duo Macbooks Tomorrow? because if they don't come out tomorrow, everyone will be back over to the Full Laptop Refresh By the Holidays? ?

I'm just sayin' it might be cool if us macbook waiters had our own little waiting area now. :p

nov 7 an unofficial holiday

if not 11/7 then 11/8....i will use the excuses of jobs let everyone off work on the 7th because he wants all his employees to vote...

and of course if not 11/8 then 11/14...
and if not 11/14 well :(

I ordered macbook which starts the 2 weeks shipping tom

If they change to a core 2 duo would I get the upgraded version or would I be stuck with the existing order?

Also if it is shipping tomorrow why would it take another 12 days for the estimated shipment unless they are delaying it for the upgrade. Can always dream I guess!

Cheers

Macbook 2ghz white with 120 hard drive...

I just wish they'd stick integrated graphics back into the low-end laptop, even something like an x800. The dedicated graphics card in the MBP is the only reason why I'm buying it rather than the MacBook. Well, okay, there's also the aluminum enclosure, which I'm really loving.

If you are buying MBP (partly) because of the graphics card, this is EXACTLY why dedicated graphics in MB is not going to happen.

Look around the forums (or sales reports) how many people have black MBs just because they're cool. (IMHO it's the same with iPods.) If fashion sells, why bother with hardware?

Could anyone tell me about c2d MB.. i just wondering whether c2d mb will fully support 64 bit when the leopard come out or it can only work with 32 bit with the leopard.

yes the c2d mb will support 64bit. all c2d (aka merom) support 64bit. cd (aka yonah) is only 32bit. cheers
