Caught up? Our rate is 42.4%. Those numbers are nowhere near ours.
They look pretty close to me:

Yuk, these new numbers in the Northeast look foreboding...

R(t) values from covidestim.org:

NH: 1.36*
VT: 1.01
MA: 1.34*
CT: 1.18
RI: 1.40
NY: 1.03

Maine is the only bright spot with 0.79. All the rest are rising.

(R(t) > 1.0 means cases are growing. See explanation.)

* 8-month or more highs

NH is not taking COVID seriously.

MA is but they have much higher population density and they are a travel hub.

It is hard to get a handle on things as each of these states has different regions and your region may be doing fine while another in your state isn't. NH is in a new range between 4,000 and 4,600 now. Things will get a lot worse if we follow what we did last year.

If you look at this article from Harvard Health in 2008:

They mentioned that people living north of the 37° North Latitude (Parallel) need to get more Vitamin D in winter to reduce being vulnerable to a number of diseases. Note this map from the article:

The places where we're getting higher incidences of COVID-19 mentioned earlier in this message thread are all located above the 37° North Latitude.

FDA says that those with J&J can get a booster of any of the three vaccines. They are also allowing mixed boosters for those in the category of 65 and over, compromised, and working in jobs which exposes them to more risk. They will likely make them available to more people in the near future.

The actual situation, though, is that anyone can get a booster (over 12) if they're willing to lie about their state of health. I fall under the CDC guidelines of compromised so I can get mine after tomorrow.

I'll wait until the Moderna booster is approved. The FDA is supposed to be making a decision about the Moderna booster some time in November 2021.

Am I missing something?

WASHINGTON (AP) — U.S. regulators on Wednesday signed off on extending COVID-19 boosters to Americans who got the Moderna or Johnson & Johnson vaccine and said anyone eligible for an extra dose can get a brand different from the one they received initially.

The Food and Drug Administration’s decisions mark a big step toward expanding the U.S. booster campaign, which began with extra doses of the Pfizer vaccine last month. But before more people roll up their sleeves, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention will consult an expert panel Thursday before finalizing official recommendations for who should get boosters and when.

Interesting with the Moderna booster: the original Moderna shot had 3-times the does of the Pfizer vaccine. That may be why there are some indications Moderna is holding up a little better than Pfizer over time.

But with the boosters, Pfizer is the full dose, and Moderna is a half-dose of the original (still making it higher dose than Pfizer).

I wonder if you got an illicit first-shot Moderna as a booster, how that would work out... ?

(Obviously not recommended since there has been no testing of such.)

Oct 19 New York (Reuters) - The U.S. Food and Drug Administration is expected to soon recommend that persons 40 and older receive a Pfizer (PFE.N) or Moderna (MRNA.O) COVID-19 booster shots, CNN reported on Tuesday.

I saw an interview of a guy that got pericarditis from one of the vaccines. High-level athlete with a heartrate normally in the 50s but his heartrate was in the hundred+ some time after the vaccine. He went to see a doctor and they got it down to 110. He went to the hospital several days later and they took him seriously and he has some remaining symptoms from it. So somewhat more severe side-effects are possible but they seem pretty rare to me.

I played tennis yesterday with the guy with the wife who tested positive. We skipped playing last Thursday because she tested positive. They both went back to work on Monday as they both tested positive. He's tested negative three times since she was diagnosed (he has to test twice a week for his job). She's a PT so she likely got it from a patient. I asked him if they did contact tracing on her patients and he replied, "Nobody seems to care." Apparently we don't do contact tracing anymore.

I'm at the car dealer getting a service and tires and I noticed only three others wearing masks out of about thirty. It's possible that we're just encouraging vaccinations and those that are vaccinated have very mild cases and that those that aren't risk illness, hospitalization and death and that our government otherwise doesn't really care. Our numbers broke out again yesterday. We were in a range between 3,500 and 4,000 for a long time, then moved to 4,000 - 4,500 and now we're in the range of 4,500 - 5,000. It is possible that everyone winds up getting infected where being infected can range from 0% to 100% severity.

This may explain why New England, a region that's fairly well vaccinated, is seeing higher numbers.

Contact tracing is an absolute waste of time for a virus that is likely to be with us forever. At this point death is the only statistic that matters. This idea that someone is going to completely avoid contracting the virus is a fools errand.

It's pretty amazing that a country like Germany, who drinks beer by the gallon and brot up the ying yang isn't fatter. Makes you think about how bad the crap is in the US.

My state is the worst in the country for WoW growth rate. Vermont is second. NH is 60% vaccinated (one-dose) while VT is among the best in the country. MA is well-vaccinated as well and doing quite well. People are generally behaving as if COVID isn't real around here.

Or have people decided to say "F it", we're all going to contract it at some point in time, so why not get it over with.

How is vaccination in your City/Country going? Here where I live it's horrible. When we didn't have enough vaccines everyone was complaining and now when we have vaccines people don't want to get vaccinated
