How is vaccination in your City/Country going? Here where I live it's horrible. When we didn't have enough vaccines everyone was complaining and now when we have vaccines people don't want to get vaccinated

60% at least one, 54% fully.

Horrible.

We had 14 deaths this past Tuesday which is a lot for us.

The number of additional vaccinations per day is in the low hundreds. And that's with the kids starting to get vaccinated.

States and localities are going to have to be careful as far as "those vaccinated are the only ones who can enter" (Chicago, NY, etc). With the vaccine approved for those down to 5yrs old now, and where some parents are very hesitant to give it to their child, tell a family of 4 where the adults are vaccinated but the 5 and 7yr old aren't that they can't eat at a given restaurant and the folks in power are going to find themselves on the outs. If the tone and tenor play out the way it has been where people are going to start brow beating parents to vaccinate their kids things are going to take a wicked turn for the worse.

Interesting article from ABC News on the surge of cases in Vermont:

Note it says 1/3 of hospitalized COVID patients are vaccinated. Waning immunity likely a big factor. California, Colorado and Detroit have all expanded eligibility for boosters to everyone over 18.

Aside from Vermont, When I was at the gym last night, I saw on national news that Wisconsin is also on another dangerous surge, again. It’s like their third major surge in the last 12 months, the same mistakes that they continually keep making in that state is staggering. I think it’s partially because that’s a huge drinking state, and I imagine with bars, college campuses parties and of course full stadiums, it’s really not helping.

One of the differences is that Vermont blew past its previous high whereas Wisconsin has a lot of room to get to get back up there. The idea is that you shouldn't let it get back to previous highs.

Yeah, like many other places, it's politically motivated.

Could you please post the URL of the site those graphs are from? They're nice and clear, and some of the better ones I've seen.

@iluvmacs99

Haven’t seen you in a while. Any thoughts on the current trend? How are things in Canada, where I know it’s very strict with guidelines.

If this story hadn't happened locally to me, I might have thought it was vaccination propaganda, but...

A family of four (two parents and two adult children) lived together. The mother and one son both got COVID vaccinations. Another son and the father chose not to. A few weeks ago, the entire family came down with COVID simultaneously. The mother and vaccinated-son were a little under the weather but recovered quickly. The father ended-up in the hospital, as did the unvaccinated-son about six hours later. Both of them died (ages 57 and 27).

I heard this on the radio on my way home this afternoon.

A lot of people do not take this thing seriously and then have a lot of regret when they are in the hospital. The progression of this thing is insidious with people thinking that they are getting better but not understanding that they are receiving a massive amount of help by artificial means, to keep them alive.

Well, we are hosting 21 family members for Thanksgiving. The group is 100% vaccinated (all ages). Also, everyone over 60 has their boosters as well. Finally, we are testing everyone that is traveling from out of town. My main concern are the four grandparents (all octogenarians), but they would much rather take the aforementioned precautions and be with their family than miss another holiday together. I get it. You get to an age when every moment with your loved ones is precious.

We are not inviting anybody over this year again, being that not everybody is 100% vaccinated, however; it’s primarily because it’s still just not safe congregating. We have no problem making the sacrifice necessary to isolate, that’s partially because my wife is in the medical industry and she has a very proactive stance on following guidelines [As do I]. And we try to tend to ‘think different’ when it comes to being with family who refute the vaccination, and sometimes sacrifices have to be made for the future. It may not be the most favorable decision by many, but it’s a necessary move.

I hear you, and everyone needs to make the best decision for their family. I saw Dr. Fauci on the news a week or two ago, and he is getting together with his family for the holidays. I am sure they are all vaccinated. He is no spring chicken, but decided it was a manageable risk in their situation. YMMV.

If I recall, Dr. Fauci also made the sacrifice of last year not having spent the holidays with his family, because the vaccination wasn’t quite available yet, given the obvious risk. So the reward this year, is that he and his daughters are vaccinated, so he can safely do so.

That’s currently the divide. We have those who are taking precautions like yourself, and making sure it’s safe for everybody to enjoy others company, and then you have those who are woefully ignorant and choose to risk their lives, then so be it. The education has been available at a click with copious amounts of data, and at this point with the vaccine almost being available a year ago, there is no more ‘I’m just not sure’ hesitancy, it’s stubbornness that will carry its own weight in consequences.

I realize the holidays is a monumental time for families, and these same families have had ample time to prepare knowingly that gatherings would be a likely scenario, I wish more people would use sound minded strategy as you have.

83% of people age 12 and up here in Westchester are fully vaccinated. In my specific zip code, 92.6% of the entire population has at least one dose.

As great as all that sounds, my sister still doesn't want to get vaxxed lol

Agreed.

Actually, I saw Fauci interviewed again today on CNN, and he made it very clear that it is ok to get together with people that you know are fully vaccinated. Fauci also reiterated that he will be getting together with his family.

That said: I recognize that there is always going to be some amount of risk. We will just manage it as best we can.

Unless they close their borders, delta variant will be back.
Or the next variant. When you reduce the pressure from the current variant, then the host is available for the next competitive variant to gain hold and multiply. Thats how nature works.

Moderna Booster this morning. 25 ml. No line and the process was very fast. Doing all of the paperwork online makes the process a lot faster. Appointments are booking into the latter part of the first week in December right now and I expect the queue to get a lot longer as more people book.

I registered my vaccine info at another hospital as the first hospital that I registered at indicates that they are verifying my info. I submitted it a few weeks ago. If your state won't do electronic verification, then hospitals might as well. Our state recently accepted $22 million from the Feds for updating our vaccination site so that may get us State QR codes but it might take a while.

I went to Target (U.S.) for the Moderna booster. Did the registration online through a state health site. In and out quickly. Even got a $5 store coupon from Target.
