From COSTCO FAQ: https://subscriptionredemption.com/US0222APL/faq

Q: Can I still redeem the 1 year subscription of Apple TV+, Apple News+ or Apple Arcade if I already have a subscription?

A: Yes, your 1 year subscription of Apple TV+, Apple News+ or Apple Arcade will be added on top of your current subscription. Your next billing date through Apple will be 1 year from the date you redeemed the subscription purchased from Costco.
I wonder if they'll let you pause the subscription. Probably going to be like Netflix where if you have a balance from the gift card, you cannot pause the subscription until the balance runs out which is annoying if you go away on vacation for 2-3 weeks. ?

Because these two are the only two services people really want.

For a company that invests so much in services lately, Apple is really dropping the ball, iCloud is the worst of all the major cloud services available, it took them years to add something as simple and useful as drag&drop support, and it is still well behind in features, the only reason I have it is because it works well with the ecosystem.

Apple Music is very good, however, I find the catalogue to be much better in Amazon Music (which I get for free) and YouTube Music (which comes included with my Premium subscription), you can get titles from other countries that Apple Music doesn’t have.

All the other services (News+, TV+, Arcade, etc.) are either garbage or unappealing. After multiple free trials offered to me I could not sensibly justify paying for any of those services.
Yes... iCloud and Apple Music...

What I like about Apple Music is it has PV [promotional video] of some Japanese artists/singers/bands that are region-locked in YouTube/YouTube Premium... The only video available in Spotify are podcasts so it is out of the question... I have stopped using [and no longer subscribed to] Apple Music for I prefer Spotify and once my subscription expires I will keep the free account and use VPN for region-locked music... My YouTube Premium playlists are like a carbon copy of my Spotify playlists...

I am offered free trials of Apple TV+ and Apple Arcade but I am not using them for I already have Netflix and I am not interested in mobile gaming... I used to have iCloud subscription but since I do not use the iCloud backup nor iCloud Photos, I went back to the free 5GB storage... I currently have Google One for cloud storage but I am thinking of switching to Dropbox in the near future...

It's nice to have lower subscription rates but only iCloud storage and Apple Music are useful to me...

Are you able to pause your phone service? Internet Service? Cable Service?

At least you can make use of AppleTV or Netflix while you're on vacation.

Huh... rather impeccable timing! My AA and ATV+ trials will expire in the next few weeks! I'm going to ignore ATV+ for now since I want to finish out my Amazon Prime (Video) sub (don't feel the need to renew this year). AA is something I'm on the fence about, but could get behind. It'd be $3.63 per month if I use my Costco Visa card (I'm on the $60 membership, so it's 3% rebate, as opposed to another 2% for that).

I wonder why they aren't discounting the iCloud and Apple Music subs.
AFAIK, probably because they're the most used/popular services, and don't need that boost. Reminded me of how a couple decades ago, Microsoft gave out out free copies of Visual Studio. Yes, it's a nice thing, but dig into the weeds of it, it's their way to get that platform out there, make it more popular, add more users, so that gives them more options down the line (charging for it, etc.). If Microsoft wanted to give out really useful stuff, they'd do so with Windows and Office, but back then, those were their cash cows.

The WSJ (biggest paper on news+) is normally $39 a month. If you’re fine reading from the news app, it a great deal even for that one paper. Throw in access to select local papers, pop-mech and pop-sci, Time, Times of London, plus more; and News+ is sort of a bargain at $9.99.

The service isn’t targeted at people who get most of their news from cable networks, YouTube, social media, and bloggers.
When it initially rolled out, weren’t there a lot of restrictions on what articles you had access to? And I did not like the interface for News+, has that changed at all? My WSJ is $20/mo, but worth it to get all the articles I want, including older ones (N+ limited to last 3 days?).

I agree. I have the family one plan but the only service I care for is iCloud and apple music. ATV+ and Apple Arcade are not worth paying for. I wish Apple dropped both of those and put that money into offering more iCloud storage at a discount or the same price. Instead, I’m subsidizing services few people actually want.

Yes. Yes, I can.

Going on vacation and need to suspend your service?

Let us help you…

There are many reasons why you may need to suspend your service. You may be going out of town for an extended time, remodeling your home, or spending time at your summer home. If you’re not going to use your services for an extended period, it may be worth it to put your service on Vacation Suspend. It can help you save money and allows you to keep your telephone number.

Details:

  • Your service can be suspended between 30 days to 9 months.
  • You need to have the service for 90 days prior to it being suspended, and you must have at least 3 months of active service in any calendar year.

Verizon's not alone in offering that ability either.

If I can do the above and I can pause a Netflix subscription as well (if the monthly subscription fee is deducted from a credit card that's saved with them), then why can I not do so when the subscription fee is taken from the balance of a Netflix gift card?

Best Buy currently has an even better deal on Apple News+ where you can get six months FREE then $9.99/month which would mean $59.94 for a year. It's for new subscribers only.
Here's the link. While the page says new subscribers only, I was able to redeem it for 6 months just fine. I also recommend cancelling it immediately after to prevent auto renewal.

A bit off topic, but I wish Apple offers annual subscription for Aple One Premier… $299 per year would be good enough for me (of course cheaper the better).

Does anyone really subscribe continuously to Apple TV+? I haven't found enough content to warrant a full year subscription.
There are, but seems to follow these cases...

A) Some people sub to Apple One, use enough of other services that ATV+ is "free" at that point. They still count as subscribers, even if they aren't using it (or using it anymore).

B) ATV+ is only $5 a month, or $50 for the whole year. For some, that's "chump change", and don't mind keeping it on even if they're not really using it enough. I'd reckon some of these folks do a poor job of keeping on top of that (although TBF, life gets in the way!)

But yeah, you're not the first to comment about that. Others say they've been able to binge everything in a month or 3, cancel, and just resub when new films and seasons come out.

Has anyone tried Apple News? It has access to some decent business publications like WSJ and Bloomberg, which are pricey by themselves separately.
If so, can one keep buying the Apple News card to use to continue the subscription or cancel it?
Thanks!

Anyone know what happens if you bank a year of each of these services and then sign up for Apple One? Do you get credit for the remaining prepaid service? If so, how much? The discounted price prorated for what time is left or the regular price prorated?

Can you view News+ content through a web browser on a PC? Or is the app absolutely required? I have an iPad (no cell), but if I'm at home, I prefer to do so through a 26" monitor is all.

We do. My wife keeps saying she’ll watch the new season of shows we started watching when it was free. Then she decides she needs to re-watch the old episodes first but doesn’t have time to do it right now and proceeds to watch a new show on Netflix. I really should just cancel it.

Interesting. I current subscribe to AppleTV+, Apple Arcade and a 200GB iCloud plan. I considered going Apple One but just don't use Apple Music. This might be an option.

Yep..
You could give me all three of those -- for free (as Apple has done numerous times) and I still wouldn't use them.

TV+ is the closest to being "worth something" to me, but even then, I'll just binge whatever looks interesting during my next round of free access from someone getting a new device of some kind.

..and if not....not much has been lost
