Grrrrrrr I wish it would warn you or at least a setting for it to do a pop up if the article is older than so long. I'm like why is the ATV+ price so much higher. Oh May 2022. But then why are the other two still the same as the article states?

For anyone that cares, I ended up not renewing AA. Got some non-AA games on iOS, along with others on Android that kept me plenty occupied. I was then gifted a Switch, so playing vg there instead.

Will resub to ATV+ when it's time to rotate back to that (so probably 2024. Or whenever the new season for Foundation and Central Park come out. Nice that See had its final season).

Are you able to pause your phone service? Internet Service? Cable Service?

At least you can make use of AppleTV or Netflix while you're on vacation.
Hulu lets you pause your service. It needs to be prior to your billing month, and takes into effect in one-month billing increments.

As for using ss (streaming services) while on vacation, that's when I would have it paused. When I'm on vacation, I often won't have time to use them since I'm enjoying being away from home, having other sights to see. I also don't want to go through my cell data, or beholden to having to find wifi. I will say that I did knock out a few hours of ATV+ streaming that one time since my free trial was due to expire, and I had free time waiting for my next event anyways (so we paid for wifi access, but got some good boba tea out of it ;) ).

EDIT: Oh, while on cruises, internet freaking costs $22 to $28 per day. No, freaking, way! For that case, I bring plenty of offline stuff to do (a book I've been reading, games on my iPad, phone, and I recently got a Switch), in addition to the usual entertainment on the ship.

I was gonna grab the Costco Apple News+ deal but now I can't find it on Costco site. Anyone know if this deal has evaporated? Thanks.

I checked too and unfortunately, in the wake of AA, ATV+, and News getting increases in price, Costco no longer sells discounted subs of these :\

The folks who managed to snag a year or 3 of Apple TV+ at $45/yr made out like bandits! It later got upped to $7/mo, $70/yr, or $63/yr at Costco, to now $10/mo, $100/yr, and no Costco option :(

Yeah - it is too bad. I think Apple News+ is expensive for what you get and would have purchased the annual subscription through Costco.

Torrents seem to work better lol
This really isn't an option for the public at large, and the masses. They're too tech inept to do the more basic stuff like setting up streaming boxes, their own computers (including tablets and phones like from Apple). Some are so awful in that regard that they don't really know how to go online (I know some elderly who are such prime examples).

Some have morale issues in doing so.

It's also not convenient. Pay $10 to $20 for a streaming service, and access a buffet of content at your fingertips.

Last but not least, you need to pay for a VPN, and some would rather just use that money towards the usual expenses anyways.

To each their own

I get the techy part being hard for some

But the $ side it’s hard to argue with the value

Ethics side, look into lots of these production companies, spend much time around the industry, google casting couch, and it’s hard to cry for a small loss of the production Cos revenue

One good example is those who like to watch some of the Star Wars tv series but don’t want to support the mouse

I purchased News+ and TV+ subscriptions through this Costco promo in 2022. When I checked my subscription info in the App Store app today, it shows both renewing at $9.99 and $4.99 per month, respectively, rather than at the current, higher rates. I was surprised to see that I'm grandfathered into the old rates, so I called Apple to double check. They confirmed that $9.99 and $4.99 are what I will pay when my Costco subscriptions expire.

Has anyone else noticed this? It's a fantastic deal, which I will hang onto as long as Apple honors it.

"Costco subscriptions" as you your membership to Costco? Or the subs to News+ and ATV+ specifically? If the former, that seems like you'll have it for the life of your membership. If the latter, then it should revert to original price once you use up all of your subscription codes, no? I do recall hearing that sometimes, it takes a while for Apple to revert prices to what they currently are, so dunno if the rep meant that, or you got some grandfathered plan going on.

I'm referring to the subs to News+ and ATV+. These were purchased directly from Apple by using gift cards purchased from Costco.

The Apple rep confirmed that $9.99 and $4.99 are what I will pay when my current subscriptions expire. I'll post an update when they expire. ATV+ will be the first, around Aug. 5. News+ is good through mid-2025. If the rep turns out to be wrong, and the prices increases, I'll just drop both.

My ATV+ subscription renewed today for $4.99.

Today I received an email that my ATV+ subscription rate is increasing to the current price. Weird that they didn't do that as soon as my old plan expired. At any rate, I won't renew it. Not enough on there that I watch.
