Hmm, the site on Costco.com to purchase these services is under the section called "Apple Movie Tickets & Streaming". Is that a typo, or fare they going to sell discounts to ATV+ one-off purchases?

Can you view News+ content through a web browser on a PC? Or is the app absolutely required? I have an iPad (no cell), but if I'm at home, I prefer to do so through a 26" monitor is all.
Apple News+ requires ** drum roll ** the Apple News app.

Just connect your Mac to a 26" monitor and open the Apple News app.

Costco also has the MacBook Air M1 256GB SSD for $849.99 (cheaper than Amazon, Best Buy, and others).

That’s a darn good price.
I also notice they offer a 13” MBP M-1 with Touchbar? Is that a thing: M-1 + TB?

Edit: oh wow. I forgot it was the 14/16” launch that dropped the TB. Huh. Costco’s price on those is similarly darn good.

For a company that invests so much in services lately, Apple is really dropping the ball, iCloud is the worst of all the major cloud services available, it took them years to add something as simple and useful as drag&drop support, and it is still well behind in features, the only reason I have it is because it works well with the ecosystem.
And they know this.
The only reason any of us tolerate it is ecosystem integration. It does just enough to be tolerable. But barely. 🤪

The WSJ (biggest paper on news+) is normally $39 a month. If you’re fine reading from the news app, it a great deal even for that one paper. Throw in access to select local papers, pop-mech and pop-sci, Time, Times of London, plus more; and News+ is sort of a bargain at $9.99.

The service isn’t targeted at people who get most of their news from cable networks, YouTube, social media, and bloggers.
Thank you for this comment. Yes, News+ is not as widespread as Apple would like I'm sure, but if one was to buy subscriptions for even a few of the 400+ magazines and newspapers available there, they'd be paying a hell of lot more that ten bucks a month. I'm a news junkie and I love News+.

I used to pay for Texture just to have material to read on my flights. I justified it by being cheaper than 2 or 3 magazines from the airport news rack a month. A year of news+ is cheaper than my wife's monthly magazine habit.

I stand by my question considering that you can watch Apple TV+ on a Windows PC through Firefox. I've been doing that ever since I started my trial period. The only "wrench in the works" is that the free trial needed to be redeemed through the Apple TV+ app on my 9th gen Ipad.

And no, I don't have a Mac. It's iPad or bust, so I'll pass up on News+ for now.

Apple One is the best deal out there. I have the Premier tier. I already paid $15/mo for Apple Music Family. And I already paid $10/mo for 2TB iCloud Storage. For an extra $5/mo I get Apple Arcade for the kids (who use it a ton on iPad and Apple TV using an old Xbox controller so I never have to buy any games), Apple News+ which I don't use a lot except to get past paywalls for some long form pieces, Apple TV+ which has some really great shows now, and Apple Fitness+ which my wife uses occasionally and I've been thinking about using since I've been on a workout kick again lately since I recovered from an injury. And since you can share it with up to six people in your family, I added my grandparents and they use the iCloud Storage and Apple Music. If I ever saw discounted Apple One subscriptions I would buy as many as they would let me.

All the other services (News+, TV+, Arcade, etc.) are either garbage or unappealing. After multiple free trials offered to me I could not sensibly justify paying for any of those services.
Service is led by Eddie Cue. What do you expect? He is the true bottleneck of Apple.

I will say, however, that News+, TV+ and Arcade all have potential to be great if a right person leads them. Below are some of my thoughts:

News+: needs better UI (I really wish Apple could add Economist…)
TV+: needs more movie catalogs. There are other OTA service providers charge dirt cheap price and offer a ton of movies. Just having original content would limit people’s interest because many people think TV+ just has no contents
Arcade: acquire some game developer / publisher (similar to MSFT’s acquisition of Activision, or acquire old school catalogs such as Neo-Geo, Capcom, Sega or something similar)

Who in their right mind would pay 9.99$ for News+????
I have it as part of Apple One but it replaced my Wired subscription and gave me access to a couple of magazines I used to pick up every now and then. Plus my fiancée has access to her faves as well. It’s a decent value IF you take advantage of it. $10/month isn’t bad for access to so many magazines.

The news sites are ok, but some people might value those over mags too.

the only reason I have it is because it works well with the ecosystem.
And, while it may behind other services, that’s why THIS is the only thing it really has to do. Those with the tech savvy to build a workable solution out of the less expensive services might save themselves a few bucks and endow themselves with a more robust feature set. Those with more money than tech savvy (or just don’t want to spend their spare time troubleshooting every incompatibility in the solution they would build) are just happy that it syncs the way it does.

When it initially rolled out, weren’t there a lot of restrictions on what articles you had access to? And I did not like the interface for News+, has that changed at all? My WSJ is $20/mo, but worth it to get all the articles I want, including older ones (N+ limited to last 3 days?).
You’re naturally restricted somewhat by today view, but if you go to their “channel” then all their articles seem to show up. I don’t know exactly how far back they go, but articles 3 years ago are available.

If you find an article online, you can also usually select ‘share -> open in news’ to get past the paywall; so you’re not limited to the articles you can find through the app.

One is limited to reading in the News app, so if you wish to use a PC, then the service probably isn’t a great fit.

I fully agree. Especially Arcade feels like it's on life support with all the + releases recently. It's in need of more games especially games that can up the level (no pun intended). I really enjoyed Ocean Horn 2 but unfortunately I've seen very little games with similar console level quality. It's the most important reason I left the service.

Are you able to pause your phone service? Internet Service? Cable Service?

At least you can make use of AppleTV or Netflix while you're on vacation.
Yes. AT&T, Verizon, Charter all offer options to suspend service for up to 3-6 months for any reason: financial hardship, vacation/travel, and usually up to a year for military deployment.
