No its not. Look at its design - metal, just like every other pro device

Horrible reasoning. That would mean the Mac Mini is a professional product. Plus, you can't buy external iSights anymore from Apple. (Though I hope they debut some new ones tomorrow)!

Why would iSight be included in MacBooks (a consumer product) if it is intended for professionals only?

I predict that the banner holds three things...

The meaning of life,
An Apple multi-appliance device (iMicrowave, iFridge, iOven, iSink),
and an all new Apple gaming console...

ARE YOU GETTING IT PEOPLE?!?!?!

THESE AREN'T 3 DIFFERENT THINGS!!!

IT'S ALL ONE DEVICE!!!!

TBF, on topic of iSight, they do always say, "video conferencing right out of the box" or something of a similar calibre. This would seem to imply they are, in fact, designed for the pro market. I think they are far more than that, and Apple realised that when they released Photobooth beacause, "It's so fun! It's great, you'll really love it"

I think it's a PowerBook G5 under the cloth.

Oh, great! I'm in the market for a new display & iMac. If the ultra-portable makes its debut, I'm also interested :)

And Leopard + other software goodies ... Ooooh, this is gonna be good! :D :D :D

NO.

It's a developers conference.

A few excerpts from the CNBC link above:

2003: Apple and IBM announce the PowerPC G5 processor, and Apple announces the Power Mac G5 desktop computer. Also, Apple previews Panther, the next major release of Mac OS X and introduces iChat AV and iSight

2004: Apple previews Tiger, the next major release of Mac OS X, and launches a new 30-inch Cinema HD Display

2006: Apple previews Mac OS X "Leopard" and launches Mac Pro desktop computer

what were you trying to take a picture of? and why wouldn't you be allowed to take a picture if stuff is covered?
It was just the regular Leopard banners hanging in the main hall. Nothing that big. In our stuff we got we received a paper that said that we can't take pics, or audio/video of the conference. We are only allowed to talk about the keynote. When I checked in they only told me about I can only talk about the keynote.

Bleah. Who cares about the prosumer/consumer desktop/laptop matrix? It doesn't exist to anyone but Apple and its entourage of nerds. Apple knows (or should know) that WWDC is just as valid a launching point for a new product as MWSF or whatever. They're even a nice distance apart temporally. Using it as a place to announce only expensive tools seems a bit of a waste, especially with the increasing number of fanboys each year that look to WWDC with the awe and worship that we normally associate only with Monica Bellucci.

I think one of the banners will have the new Leopard Finder on it - maybe something like this:

(Apologies to those who already checked this out on the other thread)

Another suprise will probably be that FrontRow is phased out in favour of Apple TV - built in to 10.5.

I'm a bit worried that Apple's marketing team are starting to mix their metaphors on this one - I'm starting to imaging Leopards in space suits :)

The iSight was announced at a WWDC as I recall. There are no rules to follow. They can announce whatever they want.

I have a very good feeling about this event. I think we might see a new Printer Setup Utility !!!! :) Take that, Redmond!

That link is broken, here's one that works.

I don't think the banner will say anything to take the surprises out of Steve Jobs' keynote speech. So nothing about new this or new that which he might announce during his speech.

So somthing to excite those attending to a higher level about what they are already expecting!

My guess it will say "OS XI The Future just landed"!

Leopard is a big update with something particularly special cooking under the hood - so maybe different enough to get its own roman numeral!

In WWDC's history, we have never seen any consumer-intended product launched.

What's your reasoning for no iPod? Just curious...

-=|Mgkwho

Because they aren't developing for the iPod. There is no 3rd party development for the iPod besides for add on devices and the select companies that develop games for the platform. But in general, it is not a developer platform, at least not the developer base that is addressed at WWDC.

But consumer desktops that run OS X ARE platforms that are addressed by the developer base seen at WWDC.

Now I know that in WWDC history we haven't seen traditionally consumer oriented products announced, but I wouldn't count it out 100% simply because they aren't "Professional" platforms.

I personally am not expecting an iMac or consumer oriented product announcement at WWDC, but I wouldn't count it out simply because its WWDC. Though I would be shocked if an iPod announcement was made.

The question ending with "if it was intended for professionals only" would logically follow FreeState's thinking if [he's] suggesting iSight is only for professionals. I personally think iSight is for everyone.

But 1984, why would the title have the word "Developers" in it if the overwhelming theme isn't for developers? Surely Apple has some continuity in their events with regard to titles and product offerings...

They won't be revealed until after the keynote...?

There is also the rumor that Apple no longer considers the iMac a consumer product and will be pushing it higher with the elimination of the 17" model.

OH- OK just so I understand you, you're suggesting developers only develop for software, and all of the 3rd party accesory manufacturers aren't developers?

There is also the rumor that Apple no longer considers the iMac a consumer product and will be pushing it higher with the elimination of the 17" model.

And I mentioned that.

What bit you in the ass and started to wiggle? Last time I checked developers write programs for computers. They don't exclude consumer models.

I can't be arsed reading these other posts, BUT i'm going to make one prediction. That illusive banner will announce:

"Leopard: way better than Vista etc. Coming some time soon"

Not really front page news.

Mac mini has a plastic top - its not all metal.

Internal iSights are a completely different thing.

The most important thing about WWDC is surprisingly not the keynote on the monday, it's more about the sessions during the week, that's the cake, the keynote is just the icing on top. Please try not to be so condescending to others on the forums.
