CPW - now preordering for delivery on the 11th online...

Wtf?

I am getting more and more confused and pi**ed off with this - just rand CPW to try and find out if I could get an indication of whether I could expect my phone on Friday, only to be told that if I've received an e-mail saying it's out of stock then I've probably missed the initial allocation and won't be geting a phone on Friday. This despite getting my order acknowledgement at 11:53 which I think must have been pretty soon after they started accepting orders. And no-one at CPW seems to be willing or able to look at my specific order to say for sure - they just say "If you've received an out of stock e-mail you won't be getting it on Friday".

So has anyone placed an order for a 16GB with CPW and NOT got an out-of-stock e-mail? If so, what time did you place your order?

Why can't they tell me if they have allocated a phone to my order? Do I just have to wait for Friday and see if anything gets delivered?

What an emtional roller coaster today has turned out to be:

:)O2 taking orders
:mad:O2 site down
:)o2 site back up
:mad:o2 sold out of 16GB
:)CPW taking orders
:)Succesfully ordered 16GB from CPW
:mad:Received out of stock e-mail from CPW
:)Realised they send this for all pre-orders
:mad:Now told out of stock e-mail probably does mean no pre-order

Does it really need to be this difficult?
 
Just noticed that on the CPW website you can still pre-order the 8GB, but the 16GB pre-order option has been replaced with "More Stock 11th July"

Yep I guess we are all at the mercy of the store allocation lottery come Friday now. If no 16gigers in Greater Manchester am gunna go medieval.

So all being well I can pick mine up from Store on 11th.

Following on from this I have just rang CPW and the person at the other end of the line said:

"What we are advising all people who have had confirmations is that the :apple: iPhone will be there at some point on Friday but we are unsure what time, so if it is a special trip I would wait until Saturday or just call down and check".

Looks like I got my order in just in time.

As in people who pre-ordered?

Or are they saying that the iphone for first come first servers will only be there at somepoint on Fri?

Whats your order status showing, and did you get any kind of email confirmation about the fact that your iphone will be in store on friday?

I never input my mobile details so, wont get a text - just wondering if you had an email as well, so i know that if i dont get an email like that - its no go for me on friday :-(

Although my CC has been magically charged the £159 - so i wont be happy if they have taken the cash with no firm date that i will get my phone!
 
Ordered a 16GB iPhone from CPW, about 10 mins after 16GB orders were opened.

Got a confirmation email, but no 'out of stock' email like you guys have done...

However, if they have now cut off the option to order 16GB, it would seem they set the website to only sell theyre pre-allotted amount, which is a good sign that we'll get the order completed :D

I'm with you man. o2 Market Street could get ugly. I'll try get there an hour before the store opens.

That indicates to me that orders that have already gone through will be delivered on Friday...hopefully.
 
I got those emails too. with the confirmation of the order being processed and then that the item wasn't in stock and if it was a pre order then bla bla

mmmm all very confusing.
 
I have the first "Fulfillment order details" email at 11:58, and the "this item is out of stock... If you knowingly placed a Pre Order or Back Order on carphonewarehouse.com, then you do not need to take any action. We will despatch your order as soon as it's available" email at 12:19.

My order is on Stage 2 with the "Your order contains an item which is out of stock. We will deal with your order as soon as possible.. Your order should arrive on Tue, 08 Jul 2008" message.

What, at 9am? :D :D We'll all have our iphones and gone home by then...

(they claim to be opening at 10am, not 8am.. Arndale is opening at 8am though. Presumably they decided no point in both stores opening early).

congrats - so at what time did you order and how long after did you get your lucky email with final confirmation?

Can you upgrade at CPW? If not then maybe CPWs are the way to go on Fri for iphone newbies?
 
I spent 3 hours this morning from 9:00 - 12:00 trying unsuccesfully to order the phone from the o2 website after pre registering my interest and recieving the email informing me of the pre-order sceme at 8:45.

I then tried the CPW website to find that they had starting taking pre-orders so I ordered a 16gigger at 12:00 and immediately recieved the txt message saying that the item would be delivered to my local CPW as requested. At 12:01 I recieved the order confirmation email and at 12:22 I recieved the out of stock email. I haven't had any other emails since.

I logged onto the CPW order tracking and that was at stage 1 right up until 17:00 when it changed to stage 2 where it states that my order contains items that are out of stock and they will be dispatched tomorrow! It is currently still at stage 2.

I am starting to wish that I didn't bother with the pre-ordering and was just going to the local o2 shop come friday morning.

Certainly a badly organised day completely lacking in hard information from CPW and especially o2.
 
hey i ordered 16gb around 440. got confirmation email and out of stock email with pre order on it. went to check the preorder site and its not taking 16gb versions to check on friday, so hopefully will get delivered to my local store which i selected

You are further on than me then Shrub... mine still comes up as Stage 1.
