It’s painful to watch. Gruber spends more time talking and explaining himself and his grandiose idea of why he is necessary than asking questions that users care about. I don’t know why this has become a tradition, but it needs to stop; it’s like old Apple friends from back in the day trying to be relevant and reminding us of their bond that no one cares about.

I noticed he talks a LOT more than the other two. He clearly likes listening to himself.

the only reason apple is out doing media after wwdc is because it landed with such an underwhelming thud. so they are out doing spin. Steve Jobs used to just drop the mic
There is no real evidence to support that assertion. Some woe is me Apple lied to us type posts on here by people who made bad assumptions doesn't constitute proof.

Gruber has never done too well at asking questions but I think these remote "The Talk Show" events in 2020 and 2021 have made it worse because I think having the Apple Execs and fans right in front of him helps pressure him into moving at least a bit faster... behind a screen he rambles. It does get better 14-15 minutes into it.

John, buddy if you are reading this... having Craig and Jaws in front of you is sold gold... any minute not asking a question and listening to THEM TALK is a wasted minute.
Totally agree. 2020 and 2021 events have been rough. So many missed opportunities for good questions. And I don’t mean I want him to put pressure on Apple type questions. But he aimlessly rambles on and then that leads him to another aimless question. It honestly feels like a waste of Craig and Woz’s time. I think they seem bored talking to John. Maybe he just feels more confident in person. Idk. But even his OG podcast has been rough and I’ve slowly stopped listening to it.

They did this blitz after WWDC last year. C suite executives talk with Gruber every year now and have since 2016 or 2017, I think.

This is normal IN THE AGE OF COVID, as there are no press or influencers or event. Apple can't just hold court like it does when WWDC is live and in the flesh.

I was mildly disappointed by WWDC this year, as were many people, but this media blitz is irrelevant to how WWDC was received.

I can't believe I took the time to type this out---should be fairly obvious.

May check this out. Hopefully it's not a safe interview as always...
Was just about to say. Gruber actually has the guts to ask harder questions and push back a bit so this one might be worth checking out compared to the YouTuber softball love fest earlier this week

If you are hoping Craig talks about the new iPad and RAM options versus actual ability usage in the new OS as well as the debate of MacOS to iPad, you can watch something else.

John never asks any type of legitimate questions that we often see here. There were a few minutes of good insight and explanation from Craig about several features (mail privacy and Safari). I am glad I watched it but, it's not something I would recommend to others.

Greg's time there was essentially a waste and his boredom started to show.
Greg is nothing more than a cheerleader as he’s the head of marketing. He figures out how to spin stuff into digestible sellable points. Back a few years at least apple had a more coherent vision for things that made the marketing more believable. Now….and especially the last couple years apple has been massively dropping the ball on software…..not features, I’d be fine if they never introduced a new feature for two years, BUT STABILITY. iOS 13 was the messiest and terrible rollout in the history of iOS. Last year was equally a mess in other ways like overall wonky-ness of iOS 14, moving widgets around, stuttering and choppiness (still not totally ironed out but better). So this year I’m scared as hell to upgrade and thankfully it looks like apple won’t force us like usual.

The silver lining is that there were really not a whole lot introduced on the “new features” side and maybe internally they are finally realizing they need to release more stable stuff out the gate. Because iOS 14 and each .1 update has been one step forward two steps back for months. It’s getting pathetic.

Quite a bitter thread.
I'm not sure why you would equate "bitter" with "dislike."

Actually, I am sure.

"Dislike" is reasonable---everyone dislikes someone or something. It's universal and understood.

"Bitter" has a connotation of unreasonableness on the part of the bitter party, and perhaps a tinge of envy.

By conflating the concepts of "dislike" and "bitter(ness)," you're attempting to make people who dislike John Gruber or softball questions tossed to C-Suite Apple executives seem unreasonable.

If you're going to demean people you disagree with, at least be honest about it.
