Third thread jeeez....

Are you sure your not promoting these two sites?

if you are a developer please share your creations.

If you're not a premium member, all these links you are posting just take you to a captcha page, followed by the actual .ipa starting to download. So there's no way to verify these numbers without signing up.

Look to the top right panel and you will see the total downloads. 47836 downloads

I think this is his site.
http://standardworksapp.com/

I find it strange that this many people would be stealing churchy scriptures. Not trying to cause an argument or flame war.

As some of you know, these two websites work together to distribute hacked copies of our iPhone apps. Appulous is the front end (go ahead, search for your app)...and Appscene.org is their primary backend.

I have alerted the FBI and they have asked for more reports of abuse. If your iPhone application is on their website(s), please go to: http://www.ic3.gov

I know, I know...if we stop one, ten will come up. But these guys are the biggest (they just announced 10M downloads of illegal iPhone apps) and if a few of us file a complain, the FBI will get on them.

What do you care? You have your iphone, use it the way YOU want and others the way THEY want. Hackers crack stuff everyday. Where is your thread to shut down Limewire? And if you use a program to convert your DVD's to iPod/iPhone format instead of buying them in the Apple store, your no better.

Thanks. I'll keep these two sites in mind, especially if developers begin to make you re-purchase their app every single time they produce a small upgrade.

That is the point...I'm redirecting them to the church scriptures. They thought they were downloading another type of app...and surprise, after waiting 15 minutes to download a fat (45Mb) app it isn't what you thought it would be.

Maybe its late but I am confused. Before the download starts you can clearly see what it is your downloading (lda scriptures) so how does this trick someone?

Also, what apps do you sell to keep your creditablity?

Are you serious?

Hackers are what make America, America. It's the freedom to explore, create, and share.

I won't use those sites bc I assume you have to jail break and I'm not risking hurting my $300 phone for Koi Pond.

Please explain to me how doing what they are doing prevents you from doing what you're doing? If someone downloads an App from there, are you unable to sell your App? Whose to say that there is any actual loss of profit?

You are a poopie head. (I have more choice words, but this is MacRumors after all.)

Please explain to me how doing what they are doing prevents you from doing what you're doing? If someone downloads an App from there, are you unable to sell your App? Whose to say that there is any actual loss of profit?

You cannot prove or disprove a loss of profit. Some that go the cracked app route may actually have purchased the app if they couldn't get it for free. It's probably correct in assuming that most that obtain an app via other means than the app store would have never had any intent of purchase, but that's still only an assumption.

Hackers are what make America, America.

Um ok. These sites are providing the means to obtain licensed software via a method not approved by the copyright holder of the software. In other words, it's illegal. But I guess I should go by your word and download some cracked apps to help make America even more America.

But to the OP, seriously, I at least understand your frustration. But it's not necessary to make a new thread every 2 hours about this topic...

Might be worth noting that those who illegally download stuff tend to buy more stuff than most. Source.

Do you really want to go after those who might otherwise buy your product?

Eh hum....

Another pirate nation that began in a fashion similar to Sealand is
the United States of America. During the nineteenth-century Indus-
trial Revolution, the Founding Fathers pursued a policy of counter-
feiting European inventions, ignoring global patents, and stealing
intellectual property wholesale. “Lax enforcement of the intellectual
property laws was the primary engine of the American economic mir-
acle,” writes Doron S. Ben-Atar in Trade Secrets. “The United States
employed pirated know-how to industrialize.” Americans were so
well known as bootleggers, Europeans began referring to them with
the Dutch word “Janke,” then slang for pirate, which is today pro-
nounced “Yankee.”

Oh and this dude is a troll.

Its like pissing in the wind.
Even if you're willing to do that every day 365 days a year it still wont make a difference.
They downloaded a file that it wasnt what its supposed to be, with a few clicks they'll just download it again from a different link and install.
You waisted someones 2 minutes, big deal. More important you'd be waisting your time trying to do that and keep up with thousands of people thruout the internet. If it makes you feel better thinking you're putting up a fight and ressisting the hackers then go right ahead.

10M compared to 1 billion

If you are really so gun - ho about this you should try and go after pirateba..... oh yeah that's right

People and OP specifically! Welcome to the 21st century where our Information Age begins.

And if you use a program to convert your DVD's to iPod/iPhone format instead of buying them in the Apple store, your no better.

This post is completely and entirely incorrect.
It is completely legal to convert your DVDs into videos that could be viewed on an iPhone or iPod.
When you buy a DVD, you're not actually buying the DVD, you're buying the right to view the content of the DVD at any time.

lol @ reporting to the FBI.

Yeh they put it on the pile right under Murder investigations, terrorism and illegal drug smuggling.

It's like people saying downloading music is damaging the music industry. Yeh but the fact that the music videos they produce and the marketing lengths they go to doesnt waste any money at all does it?

I got a good idea, why don't you write some big signs that say 'STOP STEALING APPS' and march round your neighbourhood. It will probably do more good.

Actually, knowing that you can download apps for free may increase iPhone sales, much the same way the rise in the iPod's popularity mirrored the rise of pirating music of the internet.

LOL. A sandwich sign! Or what about one of those signs that are "twirled" on street corners.

I'm going to admit it, I've downloaded plenty from the sites mentioned. But Dev's can rest assured that those apps that I have kept on my iPhone, I have later purchased to stay current with the latest updates. Not all, but those I have downloaded and not purchased have been deleted after a few weeks.

If Apple changed their policy and allowed a cooling off period, I probably wouldn't bother with the above mentioned sites.

No.

You're buying the right to view the contents of that DVD on a TV.

Also

17 USC 1201 says you are breaking the law. Remember that fair use is not a legal right, but a legally defensible position.

(A) No person shall circumvent a technological measure that effectively controls access to a work protected under this title. The prohibition contained in the preceding sentence shall take effect at the end of the 2-year period beginning on the date of the enactment of this chapter.

Zipper, I merged your 2 threads about your actions, as they both drew comments and interest.

This may make the new thread a little lumpy to read, but should make sense.

Please limit yourself to one thread per topic.
